    Riu Plaza Miami achteruit gegaan

We felt our stay at Riu Plaza Miami was not worth the money. For one week, including the resort fee, we paid €2400. Approximately 90% of the staff were unfriendly. The housekeeping staff, in particular, didn't say anything when we encountered them. The reception staff could also clearly improve their hospitality. Sleeping in was hardly possible because the corridors were very noisy. In our room, one of the beds was practically unusable, it was so uncomfortable. The curtains were dirty, even with bloodstains on them. The balcony was poorly maintained, the paint on the ceiling was in bad condition, and the laminate flooring had turned green. This was our second stay here, but once again, the general hygiene and condition of the hotel were very disappointing.

    Ok stay, till check out.

We only stayed here for one night after our cruise. We had a good welcome and we got our room straight away, which was great as we had been up very early. We had some lunch from the little cafe, which was lovely! We slept well although ear plugs were a necessity. Breakfast was good, but busy. Having the room till midday was great. Then came check out. Not so great. We handed in our key cards and were then asked for the towel cards, which we didn't have. The receptionist said we would have been given one at check in, but we weren't. I said we were not given any and had only been here 1 night. He looked confused. After a pause he looked at us and said ' ok I choose to believe you." This was not very well received im afraid. I then said well whether you believe us or not we didn't have any. Not impressed. Hotel was nice but fell at the last hurdle.

Beware of booking this property. They charged me for the room, cancelled my reservation without warning & won’t refund.

Beware of this hotel. I have been put through an unexpected chapter that I’ve never experienced at any other hotel, ever. I had never stayed at an RIU property before and wanted to try something new. I called the RIU customer service number. The rep was friendly. He helped me find the right room and dates. I had no intention of canceling the reservation so I opted for the non-refundable rate. No worries, had done that dozens of times before at other brands. A few days before my arrival I received an email stating ‘cancelation confirmed.’ I opened the message thinking it was an error. I was already traveling and had to take time to call RIU. They claim I cancelled the reservation. I know I most certainly did not as I was counting on those dates for my family. To this day I am still negotiating to get a refund. This is a shady company that will take your money, not provide a service, and then not refund you. Never experienced this before. Many other hotels in Miami that would appreciate your business.

Very Good Stay, Small Inconvenience for Late Flights

Overall, everything was very good and we enjoyed our stay. The hotel is comfortable, clean, and well organized, and the staff were friendly and helpful. The only thing missing is a service for guests with late flights. If you check out but leave the hotel later, there is no option to use a room for a short time (for example, 30 minutes) to take a shower and change clothes before departure. Instead, you need to use the pool shower and change in the restroom. Aside from this small inconvenience, the stay was very pleasant and I would still recommend the hotel.

Didn’t reflect Riu standards. Is the brand going downhill?

The property grounds are very nice with access to the pool and beach. Buffet is always nice at the Riu. However the room we had was very outdated. We had chosen the city view room since we were only there for two night before a cruise. It was very noisy, since the windows are not well insulated. The bathroom also had a window in the shower, which looked very old and felt like from a horror movie. If you stay here do get ocean view even if it is more $. I think our experience would have been better with ocean view.
