I think you should be able to smoke on the beach. People very nice. Loved the inaction with all of the staff

7th vacation in RIU Palace. First time in Jamaica.
In RIU Palace Jamaica it was fun and entertaining. Afternoon air traffic was the only disturbance for me. In our room, damaged sofa cushion issue was resolved quickly after ours complain. However, the "old" cushion damage in RIU Palace? Food was fantastic. And service people were Jamaicans as we expected and we will always remember them for ... to be Jamaicans. It was very nice vacation.

Amazing Holiday - we will definitely be returning
This hotel is fantastic. The standout memory will be how amazing all the staff are. They are so friendly, courteous, provide great service and best of all so happy. A special mention for Audley (waiter in the buffet restaurant) who works so hard, provides exemplary service and always with a smile. I would go as far to say that he is the best member of hotel staff I have ever met. There is a wide range of tasty food in all of the restaurants and it is prepared and presented to a high standard. The entertainment team deliver a fun packed program every day and evening. The location of the hotel is great and it is kept very clean.

Great extended weekend in Jamaica
I want to give it a four and half, but that’s not an option, and I’m stingy with the fives. But this is not a negative review by any means. Four is good :) My wife wanted somewhere we could fly to easily and have a beach vacation with no kids running around screaming and not have to worry about anything and have people bring us drinks on the beach. Check check check. I’d seen mostly good reviews and there’s always a few disasters, but we’re pretty easy going so, we were content and enjoyed ourselves mightily. The good: Everybody was friendly and helpful and smily. We never encountered an employee having a bad day. And despite having read this sometimes, there’s no tip expectation. We did tip the maid and the bar staff and the kitchen staff here and there but not every time. It didn’t make a lick of difference in the service, because it was always nice and friendly regardless. We never had to wait an annoying amount of time for a drink or a meal. the resort is appropriately staffed. One minor exception being Pepes Grill for jerk chicken lunch. Lines were long there both days and it moved slow, but ehh. If that was the worst that’s fine. Never had to fight to find a beach chair or place to sit and we weren’t early risers or chair savers. Plenty of room with shade. The food was by all means adequate. Was I gourmet? Nah. Was it better than cruise ship food? Hell yeah. It was all buffet, which had me nervous but a wide selection and we encountered very few things that we didn’t like. We had one meal at the Krystal restaurant and despite less varied selection, the food was slightly better and we enjoyed our one evening doing that. Cons: The beach isn’t gorgeous. It’s ok. There are dudes in kayaks that will try to sell you souveniers and marijuana. They won’t hassle you but they will make sure that you’re not interested at least once if you get in the water. Friendly but mildly aggressive. A simple no thanks shuts them down but we’re spoiled in that we don’t even wanna have to do that. It’s not crystal clear blue water. It’s kinda brownish mucky water with eel grass once you get past about 2’ deep not ideal, but at the same time I’m kinda happy they didn’t just wipe all that out. Our room had a leak if you turned on the overlaid rain shower. We realized that after first usage. Water was dripping off a light fixture and out of a crack in the ceiling after we were done. We didn’t feel like moving so we just decided we didn’t need that shower head and told them about it after we’d checked out. I usually like to go places that I feel Comfortable exploring. I didn’t feel like I wanted to take that solo morning jog off the compound. I hit the weight room instead. In February, when the sun goes down, flocks of blackbirds come to roost in the trees. This coincides with when they close the pool (6 pm) but those birds are loud and plentiful. It was a good way to get you off the beach and out of the pools. Maybe that doesn’t happen other times of the year. We saw a couple small bugs in the room over five days. I think that’s reasonable in the Caribbean. The resort was clean and you could tell they put effort into doing that. The liquor at the bars was for the most part bottom shelf. They ran out of makers mark at two bars I went to (and I promise it wasn’t because of me!). Alll in all though- we had a good time and were happy with our stay. Dunno that I’d return but that’s more because I like to see what else is out there but if I did another all inclusive, I’d certainly keep the Riu resort family in mind for a future vacation.

Nice resort with exceptional staff
Spent 7 days there a week ago. Staff was the best ever ! Wasn't wild so liked that too. I liked the variety of food. Wife needs to eat gluten free (Celiac disease) and had a much more difficult time getting proper food. Was very little food for her to eat. Nice beach and pool. Plenty of lounge chairs and entertainment. Stayed on the resort since didn't want the constant hounding by locals trying to sell us stuff. Room was large. Huge and comfortable king size bed. Furnishing were outdated and most drawers were hard to open/close. Nice shower. Lots of free drinks and staff taking orders on the beach constantly. It was worth the money and getting away from the cold and snow !
