  Paid for elite club and got worst room ever!!!!!

  I had a horrible experience at RIU Baja California in Cabo, Mexico, and after spending nearly $5,000 just for the Elite Club experience, I expected so much more\. Unfortunately, this resort fell far short of my expectations, and I will NEVER stay here again\! **The biggest issue was the room I was given\.** After paying nearly $5,000 for the Elite Club, I was placed in what felt like the smallest, most basic room in the entire resort, with the smallest balcony imaginable\. Meanwhile, other members of the group I traveled with who also paid for Elite Club received much bigger rooms with much larger balconies\. The room I was given looked like something that should have been a standard, regular room, not a room for someone who paid extra for an upgraded experience\! It was extremely disappointing to spend that kind of money and feel like I received the bare minimum\. I even tried going back to the area where we booked our rooms to get answers or address the situation, but no one was ever there to help me\. That made an already frustrating situation even worse\. **Housekeeping was another disappointment\.** Every time the cleaning team came to my room, they would take my washcloths and towels and leave me with towels but no washcloths\. I constantly had to deal with missing basic necessities\. What made this even more frustrating was hearing from others in my group that their housekeeping teams made cute towel animals and creative towel decorations every time they cleaned their rooms\. Meanwhile, all my housekeeping team did was make the bed\. It felt like the level of service was completely different from one guest to another\. **The service at the buffet and restaurants was terrible\.** Staff members constantly walked past us while we were trying to ask questions or get assistance\. It was as if we were invisible\. We should not have to struggle to get someone’s attention just to receive basic customer service at a resort where we paid good money to stay\. My husband even asked for a shot at a restaurant after receiving only one, and he was told no\. The entire experience left us feeling unwelcome and frustrated\. **The entertainment was also disappointing\.** It was lackluster and did not live up to what I expected from a resort of this caliber\. Overall, the atmosphere, service, and experience were nowhere near what I thought we were paying for\. My biggest complaint is that I spent nearly $5,000 for the Elite Club experience and was given a room that felt like the most basic option available\. When you pay that much money for an upgraded experience, you expect quality accommodations, attentive service, and to feel like your money was well spent\. Instead, I felt shortchanged, overlooked, and completely disappointed\. **RIU Baja California needs to do better when it comes to consistency, customer service, housekeeping, and delivering the experience guests actually pay for\.** Paying for Elite Club should mean something, and guests should not have to wonder why other people in their travel group received better accommodations despite paying for the same level of service\. Overall, this was a horrible experience because of the issues mentioned above\. I would not recommend this resort to anyone looking for a premium vacation experience, and I will NEVER stay at RIU Baja California again\. Honestly, this experience has left such a bad taste in my mouth that I have no desire to return to Cabo either\. Nearly $5,000 should buy you a vacation you can enjoy and remember for the right reasons—not one that leaves you feeling ripped off and disappointed\. **Definitely not worth the money\!**

  Nightmare

  Beware! Next to this resort there is a party/concert venue with unbearable music blaring through the night. It's impossible to sleep! I wish I was aware I would have never stayed here!

  A Fantastic Trip

  We loved this resort. The RIU palace properties are always great. The staff were excellent, the bartenders were lively and very friendly even considering they were swamped majority of the day at the pool. Rooms were great and very clean, quiet, we had the garden view and loved it as something different from an ocean view. We often ordered some minibar refills through the app and their responsiveness was great. The salespersons from TIU and other excursion companies were very helpful and I thought they gave me a great deal on a package. They were not pushy at all and overall very friendly. The resort was lively and a mix of different aged adults, the shows were great and the access to RIU party at the neighbouring Santa Fe was great for younger adults looking for the EDM style chaotic party, they are excellent. You can easily go downtown to the clubs, the staff at the front desk will set you up with transport there and a table/bottle depending on the type of night you want to have. Place is overall safe, there is a Walmart nearby, lots of places beyond the resort to explore. You will get heckled to buy things on the beach, but most of them are great people just trying to make a dollar, we did buy a few blankets and nic nacs from them and they are very good to deal with. Only negative is there was issues with the Wi-Fi in room. We couldn't get any in ours any many other people had the same problem. I'm not sure if this was just a temporary outage or if it is common, but I suggest checking before going if it is a must have for you. Great value for money, we booked directly through RIU and thought we got a great deal with transport to and from SJD included.

  Won’t answer the phone.

  Been here several times and love the resort but they moved my reserved elite club room and won’t answer my calls. I know there is staff at the reception. They answered once and then hung up.

  Beautiful Resort, Stunning Views, but Disappointing Food and Service

  I just returned from a 6-day, 5-night stay at Riu Baja adults only , and I have mixed feelings about my experience. First, I will give credit where it’s due. The resort is absolutely beautiful, and the cleanliness is top-notch. The staff does an excellent job maintaining the property, and the breathtaking ocean views are definitely a highlight. However, if good food and drinks are important to you, I would seriously reconsider staying here. The food was extremely disappointing! This is exactly why I stopped booking all-inclusive resorts in the first place. The food is always a hit or miss, and unfortunately, this resort was a major miss. I was even served what appeared to be spoiled shrimp at the Guacamole restaurant, and some of the food had a strange chemical-like taste. The room service menu was also very limited and boring, with very few appealing options. The drinks were just as inconsistent. It really depended on which bartender made your drink. I do want to give a special shoutout to Salvador, who made an amazing Old Fashioned! He definitely deserves recognition. The poolside entertainment was also underwhelming. The entertainment staff could do a much better job engaging with guests and creating a fun, lively atmosphere. overall hospitality was disappointing as well. For a resort of this caliber, I expected a much higher level of service. On the positive side, the resort is incredibly clean, well-maintained, and offers stunning beach views. Thank goodness for that, because can you imagine staying at a resort with bad food AND poor cleanliness? Overall, the resort is beautiful, but beauty alone isn't enough. When you're paying for a luxury vacation, you expect great food, quality drinks, engaging entertainment, and exceptional hospitality. Unfortunately, this resort fell short in several of those areas. If you're going strictly for the views and a beautiful property, you may enjoy it. But if food, drinks, and overall guest experience matter to you, I would think twice before booking.
