    Hotel Riu Jalisco

The food was excellent! Service was great. Room Cleaning could have been a bit better. They did not stock water or coffee for us.

    Overall Good Value

We were at the property for seven nights, it was very pleasant. The staff was attentive, the room was good. The first night we were in a ground floor room and there was a rather large cockroach in the room, which freaked us out. We asked to be moved and the staff responded by moving us to another room on the third floor immediately. The food was ok, with the Italian themed the best. The entertainment was good with something interesting every evening.

Solid Company and Get What’s Expected

Stay was great again. 2nd time at this resort. It’s a fun and reliable 4*. Food is good, with the rare exception of empty and/or old food being out. Service is good but not exceptional, mainly clean, and no surprises. Price is exceptional for what you experience here. Disappointing Sports Bar as little to no choice on what’s playing, when the same chain hotel 2 doors down has options. Food in the Sports Bar was mainly old and dried out. The Sports Bar was empty most of the time because of this. Way under-utilized space in this resort. Some furniture around the resort is getting to be a bit limited as various bars have few to no bar stools anymore. Rooms and dining areas are still in good shape even though hotel is likely getting a bit older. A la cart restaurants are mainly smorgasbord style now and so it beats the purpose of what a la cart is intended to provide. Drinks were good and bartending was pretty fast. Pretty good at not over pouring which is important when liquor is constantly flowing. Lifeguard lead staff person was incredible. He was exceptional at deescalation when needed for guests who were over drinking and/or wanting to fight. This happened a few times when we were there, which is typical for some guests who over drink. The staff here did an amazing job of keeping an eye on this and helping those who needed to go back to their rooms. I’ve been at other hotels where the staff couldn’t care less. That’s not the case here. Overall solid but could use a few reno’s, improved furnishings around the bars. As mentioned, for the price it was exceptionally fun and solid. Pool chairs available everyday and a great place to holiday.

    Great value

We just got home from the Riu Jalisco May 2024 I was very happy that I received the two ground floor rooms like I requested, elevators were always very busy. ( highly suggest ground floor if you have mobility issues.) Rooms: the bathrooms have very little privacy, shower and sink are open to the room and there is no bath tub. Bed and pillows were comfy. Food: Buffet food was quite good, we also really enjoyed the Asian buffet. Pools : The two pools are way to small for the size of the resort. You only get 1 towels per day! Very hard to get a chair. Beach: The beach was nice, windy most days and waves could get quite big. Sandy bottom, had to walk out a bit before it got to deep. Lots of chairs to choose from. Quite a few vendors on the beach but they were pretty respectful. Shows: we’re good, white party was fun. Overall we enjoyed the hotel the staff was friendly and really enjoyed the evening in the sports bar. Parts of the hotel could use some updating but would go back.

    Should have more pools

CHECK IN/OUT: Check in was a bit longer because we came in with a whole bunch from our flight. Check out was fast. I like how didn't cut our wristbands right away since our shuttle doesn't come till 3:00pm. So, you can basically go for lunch or get drinks while waiting. ROOMS: Very spacious and clean. There's really no beachfront room though. You still have to walk a bit to get to the beach. Mini fridge is stocked every day with water and soda drinks. Our room have an alcohol drink dispenser. Not sure if every room has that. Shower and toilet are seperate which I really like. Matress is hard though. AC is not strong despite having it set to 10degree C. RESTAURANT(s): We tried the Asian and the Steak, we find them not good so we stick to the Buffet which have a TON of selections. Foods are not too bad either. Better than most hotels we've been. ENTERTAINMENT: They're good, we enjoyed them. BEACH: NOT GOOD STAFF: Friendly, no complains. The hotel itself is not bad I actually like it. They kept it clean, housekeeping are behind I think, as we always have to pass because Most of the time we go back to our room in the afternoon around 3 or 4 and the rooms are still not done. I rated the hotel 3 not because it's a bad hotel, it's just that they only have 2 swimming pools, 1 for kids and the other one is for adult which is always packed . The hotel is huge and most stay at the pool because the beach is not good. Strong waves that you can't even enjoy it especially the kids. It also have a smell. You can find horse poop as well which is a turn off coz they just let the wave take it. I wish that they build more swimming pools. I personally will stay at any Riu hotels again BUT I will not go back to Nuevo Vallarta, there's not much to do in that area. You always have to take taxi everytime if you want to go somewhere, which cost so much. It's always 150 pesos and up. I find it very expensive. Another advice, when you check in, some bellboy make you think that they have to take your bags to your room, they don't have to, just take it yourself if you like. Save you money. Overall, hotel is great. Nuevo Vallarta.... Nah, I prefer cancun, beach is wavy but atleast it's clean. Bring Mexican pesos instead. They prefer pesos instead of US dollars.
