Restaurant staff were friendly and welcoming. They always refilled our water and took away our used dishes.

Nice place
We enjoyed our stay at Riu. The service and food was great. I wish it’s more clean but I understand with so many people staying there is very hard.

They take your money and don’t care about your needs after.
Hotel amenities were good. Customer service at check in and check out was fine. Customer service in regards to a room issue was terrible. Our air conditioning did not work the first day/night. We called front desk and were told maintenance would go, maintenance went and fixed it the second evening but after an hour it broke again, we asked to switch rooms but front desk would not and informed us they would send maintenance again. It took around 3 hours total to fix the issue once maintenance arrived from the first time. We asked for late check our, just one hour as compensation and were told it would be a 900 mxn pesos charge. Really? Had us seating in our room an entire day/night and you could not give us one measly hour for no charge? Way to take care of your customers. Never again.

Great Family Fun!
My Brother-in-law's family of 4 and our family of 5 stayed here from August 11, 2024 to August 18, 2024. Outdoor pool events were fun. Overall the stay was pleasant except for the fact that they only had 4 restaurants plus the burger shack. If you stay for 5 days or more (we stayed 7 days), you get bored of the same food. The breakfast, lunch and dinner were the same every day for each restaurant. You need to stay at a resort where the many options each day. The pool was never cleaned out for the 7 days we stayed there. There was lots of rocks and sand at the bottom of the pool which you would step on. I hurt my feet with the rocks and sand playing water polo and water volleyball even though I had fun. The resort should be cleaning out the pool every evening/night to ensure the people don't get hurt. I cut my toe when I step on it enough times. My daughter and son are celiac meaning they can only eat gluten-free food with no cross contamination. The front desk gave us an allergy letter and every time we went to a restaurant, we would show it to the waiter/waitresses and then they would take us to the chef. The chef either made the meal from scratch after washing the utensils or told us which food was safe to eat. My daughter is very sensitive so if she was exposed, she would have gotten sick but during our trip, she was perfectly fine which was a huge plus. I can say that they restaurants do cater to strict gluten-free diet. We resort hopped to the Riu Vallarta which is supposed to be one step up. Even though the call center said we can eat breakfast, lunch and dinner besides having drinks, you can only have lunch and the drinks besides enjoying the pool. The Riu Jalisco is a good family resort whereas the Riu Vallarta seemed like a resort for younger adults but I can say that there was more restaurant food since the resort is a more higher end. Oscar and the entertainment at Riu Jalisco did a great job especially on the Neon party night. Everyone was dancing to the live DJ music and the neon colors were great. Oscar and team also did a great job for the pool activities. The only thing I really didn't like is that the hotel doesn't have a quiet time policy so people who went to the onsite club after 11pm and were going to their rooms like 3am in the morning were screaming and hollering and didn't care about the people trying to sleep. In the morning, the kids would be screaming in the hallway because they like the sound echoing due to the whole place being tiled and marbled. Rooms were air conditioned and had ceiling fans. The beds and pillows were uncomfortable. Get the Riu Class membership which is free so you can get 10% percent off on your online book and you also get free shuttle service from and to the airport. We had no issues with the shuttle service. The evening shows which started at 9pm were so-so. They lip-sync and dance to Michael Jackson one night and another night they sang opera which I was not a fan of at all. Other nights weren't as bad but it seems like most of the shows were for the locals entertainment and not for out of country visitors as the expectation was very low. Overall for the price we paid for an all-inclusive, we had fun. On a side note, this is our third time going to Mexico. We went to Puerto Vallarta in 2015 and Cancun in 2016.
