Sep 03, 2025Don't book this hotel.
Sadly this has been our WORST Riu out of the 6 we have thoroughly enjoyed. It is overrun with locals who purchase day passes every afternoon. No seats by or even near a pool. Restaurants are filled with load unruly people and sadly the resort is dirty. The beach is so dirty we didn't get to enjoy it. Our fist morning a dead (decomposing) sea turtle. Resort chairs were old and in need of an update as is the entire resort. Don't waste your money.

Cyclospora in Riu Jalisco 2025
I would like to warn all prospective visitors to Riu Jalisco Resort about insufficient hygenic practices in the resort. I visited the resort for two weeks in May-June this year and got poisoned by a very aggressive and destructive pathogen called Cyclospora. I got my first symptoms just four days before the end of our stay. We did not leave the resort all the time. I had terrible diarrhea, was sick for the rest of our stay and another week in Canada.

The Hotel is great, well managed, food very good during breakfast and dinner. The lunch restaurant at the beach need more options. Pools were too hot during summer. beach is good despite the dark sand, except when there is crocodile alert. The air conditioning in the rooms is very poor. The room towels were sticky. The design of shower is very dangerous and easy to slip and fall. Be careful. Hope be changed during the renovation.

This hotel is impeccable. The cleaning staff does an excellent job in the cleanliness of the hotel. I’ve stayed at more expensive places it wasn’t as clean as this hotel.

I love the place 😍
First time with my family and we so love the place. It's a paradise, a happy place to relax and enjoy!
