    Lovely resort with a little work needed to make it fantastic!

    Myself and my family visited in August (3 children aged 7-11). We did Family Concierge and paid £800 for this. On reflection, the FC benefits were great but i'm not sure that they align with the cost. On the whole, the hotel is lovely but there were a few areas that need a little work to make the resort fantastic. Positives: *Large, spacious and never felt as though it was busy or overcrowded *Plenty of sunbeds and space around the pools *The food was fantastic. Plenty of a la carte choices and we easily got reservations (not sure if this was because we were FC?) *The service in the Italian was poor but aside from there, staff in restaurants were welcoming and the food was good quality and a good choice *The pools were large with swim up bars and a nice atmosphere *FC pool and the Lunch Box were both great and a nice to have *Our concierge, Ana, was wonderful. Helpful, responsive and really thoughtful. The children loved their little surprises in the room *Omar was helpful, friendly and knowledgeable *Many at the pool bar made the best cocktails *Good quality drinks with branded labels, although some staff took more care making drinks than others *M Bar in the adult section and the steak restaurant was top notch *Cenote trip with FC was super. We had a wonderful time. We would rather of had more time in the fresh water instead of doing the yoga though Areas to work on: *Most food and beverage staff all expected tips (some actually asked for tips which did not sit well with me!) *The hotel was pretty silent after 9.30pm. There were low quality shows but then after these had finished, there was no music or entertainment *The bar for families was more of a thoroughfare and so you kind of sat in an open walk through. It was also not air conditioned because of this and so it made evening drinks really uncomfortable *The rooms are a little tired and need some TLC - flaking paint, broken curtain pole, rusty pull out bed. Not huge but areas for work *Kids club - hours and facilities were great however the staff spoke very little English and the activities often didn't happen or were cut short so the clubs were not overly engaging The hotel is very eco friendly and as a result, pests are not kept under control which I understand however, the abundance of coatis around the place made me uncomfortable. Ultimately, these are wild animals and I was nervous when they were near the children. It also meant you couldn't have snacks or food of any description (even if sealed) around the pool as they would raid peoples bags, scavenge for food etc. I was snoozing on a Bali bed one day and one jumped on to the pillow next to me! The beach has major issues with sargassum which we were aware of before we booked however, I didn't realise how extreme it would be and rendered the sea inaccessible completely which was a shame. I didn't like the area that the resort is set in. It is in Playa Del Carmen but right at the start of the 'strip'. Outside of the hotel felt really unsafe to me and I wouldn't have felt comfortable leaving on foot. When we arrived, we noticed what seemed to be a jail about a mile away and several police cars attending to people literally metres from the hotel. This isn't to safe that the area is not safe but this is the feeling it gave me. We did a trip to XCaret which was a fun day out although very long and tiring. On the whole, we had a lovely holiday!

    Very happy with everything

    The hotel is beautiful, the workers so friendly and food delicious. Our concierge Rodolfo Medina was the best . Make our vacation even better. His is very professional.

    See you next time

    This was our second stay at this fabulous resort. We were celebrating our 40th anniversary and the staff went above and beyond at every turn. The suite was so lovely, the food was great and the spa was very nice. It’s not a loud party atmosphere but it’s plenty of fun. We stayed in the adult side this time. Shout out to Cynthia for being so helpful!

    Clean, nice, but not a party atmosphere

    Beautiful resort, very modern and well kept. Staff was extremely helpful and pleasant. Especially in Hadar for breakfast, Ernesto and Rolando! Also the ladies who work in the restaurant by the pool.
