  The Good, the Bad, and unfortunately, the Ugly...... of OMR

  Honest Review of our stay at OMR, the good, the bad, and unfortunately the ugly..... let's get into it. THE GOOD : Booked an Oceanview Jr Suite with Privelege , building 12. Awesome room, great view and comfortable. Refreshed daily, best view of the carribean. Steps from pools and buffet restaurant. Bartenders and staff : really awesome group, specifically our butler, Leidy. Great communication and answered all our questions promptly. Bartenders were great, coffee shop staff were great, all in all service was very good. Food - good..... repetitive buffet selections, but overall all, good. Sports bar and lobby bar were great hangs. We're not really " evening show people" but, the effort was there and that area was lively every evening. Also, I really enjoyed the interactions and conversations with the other guests. A very friendly, and lively group during our 9 day stay, couldn't have asked for better fellow vacationers. The Bad...... be ready when you enter the property..... the " we're not a timeshare " timeshare team will approach you. They will tell you the information will not take a large chunk of your time..... SIDE NOTE: one of the options presented to you during the "not a timeshare" pitch is R.C.I. ....... Google it..... sixth word of the description is timeshare. You'll then be whisked away to the buffet, then to the sports bar where the pitch man, brings the closer and diagram a bunch of options asking you to commit thousands of dollars down for a down payment and ongoing monthly payments, and extra $$ if you want all inclusive features, and extra, and extra....you get the idea. At this point you are still considering the options, only to look down at your watch, and 3 hours have passed, it's you first morning at the resort..... Boo. Also bad - beach experience. If you are looking for the turquoise water, expansive white sand beach, LOOK ELSEWHERE. I am not saying that this is the resorts fault, but if you are looking for time in the Carribean, I'd look elsewhere. Privelege beach area is actually worse..... much, much, worse. And....THE UGLY. And I'll be very honest, these are the reasons, we won't be back to this resort, and it will make choosing other H10 resorts, difficult. **** FIRST UGLY **** during our checkout, we were accused of stealing the scale from our bathroom..... can't make this up folks.... WHO GOES ON VACATION, AND EVEN USES A SCALE ??? Luckily, I just happened to take a pic of our bathroom the day we checked it. No scale to be found in either of our pics. After presenting this to the rep at the PRIVILEGE check out and waiting several more, awkward, silent moments, we were then accused of staining the cover of the extra blanket / bedding bag, that was on the top shelf of our closet. This bedding was not used, and the contents were still in the original wrappers. After a few tense moments, and calling them out for these very insulting accusations, we were free to go, and did not have to pay anything extra. **** SECOND UGLY **** before the "we're not a timeshare"... 3 hour timeshare presentation, we were informed that even if we declined the offer, we would get something for our time. This never happened.... the pitch man texted me several times and said here is your gift, attached within the texts..... it was never attached. My assumption is that they want more of my time to try and repitch.... You've take up 3 hours of my day, im not coming back. Final thoughts..... Looking for a small, very walkable resort, with pool centered days, good food / drinks / service, and friendly guests, consider this resort Looking for a great beach experience, no hard timeshare pitch the minute you enter the property, loosing 3 hours of your first morning on property because of the this isnt a timeshare, timeshare pitch, and not to be accused of stealing a scale or staining additional bedding items.... I'd look elsewhere.

  Amazing Vacation, Incredible Staff & So Much Fun!

  What an amazing vacation! From the fantastic weather and beautiful beach to the incredible staff and nonstop entertainment, this resort did not disappoint! We stayed in Block 10, room 1006 and it ws perfectly situated and a great view. The beach was in excellent condition, with plenty of loungers in both the sun and shade. The party pool was definitely the place to be! A little tip: get there before 9 AM to snag a good spot on the deck! The food options were absolutely on point! Something for everyone, plenty of variety, and we never felt like we were missing a thing! We loved the adults-only atmosphere, especially all the games, activities and entertainment. The pool and entertainment teams were fantastic, keeping everyone laughing and having a great time. Housekeeping also went above and beyond, making our stay extra special. A huge shout-out to Ilsa at the Privilege Lounge, Alfredo our butler, and the amazing pool team... CALIENTE!! Susana, Moises, Carolina and Irving! Your kindness, energy and outstanding service made our vacation that much more memorable! What truly makes this resort special is the people. We met so many wonderful guests, shared plenty of laughs and made some great memories. We came for the sunshine and relaxation, but it's the people and memories that will bring us back! ☀️🌴🍹🐝 Can't wait to return! ❤️

  A good time was had by all !

  We vacationed there with another couple.The resort was extremely well maintained,and the groundskeepers were always working..The staff was quick to take care of any requests.From Housekeeping,Waitstaff,Bartenders,all were friendly & efficient. Our Butler,Leidy took excellent care of us,making our dinner reservations, advising us on activities we might enjoy.She was always available to make sure we were enjoying our stay. Five stars for sure!

  Probably Wouldn't Rush Back

  Our experience at Ocean Maya Royale was a bit of a mixed bag. While there were definitely some things we appreciated about the resort, there were also a few disappointments that made our stay less enjoyable than we had hoped. The Positives Cleanliness (5/5): This resort is VERY clean! You can tell the housekeeping staff take great pride in maintaining the grounds and guest rooms. Everything was consistently well-kept, and this was easily one of the resort's biggest strengths. Sports Bar Staff: The friendliest staff we encountered were the gentlemen working at the sports bar. Unfortunately, I can't remember their names but one was always in a referee outfit, but they always made my partner and me feel welcome. They even noticed when one of us was missing and would ask where the other was. Those little personal touches really stood out! Coffee Shop: If you're someone who needs their daily coffee fix, you'll appreciate the little coffee shop on the property. It's usually quiet, has a nice atmosphere, and the coffee is almost as good as Starbucks. Definitely a great little spot to start your morning! Accessibility: I sustained an injury shortly before our trip, so I was initially worried about how accessible the resort would be. Thankfully, there are ramps in some of the key areas where they're needed most, which made getting around a little easier. The Negatives Food: Unfortunately, the food was underwhelming. The buffet didn't offer a particularly large variety of options, and overall, we weren't overly impressed with the food selection. Staff Friendliness: Outside of the sports bar staff, we found much of the staff to be rather unwelcoming. Customer service was definitely inconsistent throughout our stay. Guest Demographic: Although this is an adults-only resort, the guest demographic was predominantly 50 years and older. It was also largely made up of white American tourists. This isn't necessarily a negative in itself, but it's worth mentioning for anyone considering the atmosphere and overall demographic of the resort. Inconsistent Treatment: We couldn't help but notice that American guests seemed to receive noticeably warmer treatment from staff. As non-American guests, we sometimes felt that the level of service we received was different. Beach Conditions: Unfortunately, the beach was inaccessible during our stay due to weather conditions. This certainly isn't the resort's fault, but if you're planning a trip during the rainy season, keep in mind that weather may significantly affect your beach experience. Poor Communication About Resort Perks: Be prepared for some unexpected expenses. We found that communication surrounding certain resort perks and inclusions was not very clear. Because of this, we ended up spending money unnecessarily on things we believed were already included or that could have been explained better. Would I say it was a terrible resort? No. But would I rush back or recommend it without hesitation? Probably not.
