Requirements for Weddings in Costa Rica
Birth Certificates of both (Bride and Groom): Original and copy
Passport: Original and copy
Certificate of civil state: Single state certificate of the home country. Final divorce decree if either party is divorced, death certificate if either part is widowed. Only originals.
Two witnesses: They cannot be relatives. (If the bride and groom do not bring their own witnesses, the hotel can provide them)
Additional information: Occupation, addresses, nationalities, ages, of both, bride and groom and witnesses.
The bride and groom must be at the property at least 4 days prior to the wedding date, in order to finalize the necessary paper work.
Ceremony must be scheduled with officials at least one month in advance.

I have had a few massages while here in Occidental Paraguayo. They were all good. But most especially, today I had a massage by Silvia and it was one of the best I’ve ever had! The right amount of pressure to calm the muscles and yet the ability to relax my body also. I will probably go back once more this week. RP

Couples Massages/Spa
We had two couples massages with Deborah and Lorena. We highly recommend going to the spa and having one of these two gals do a massage on you. Both were extremely professional, very good, and very friendly. If you can make it to the spa at the resort we recommend that you do that. It was very relaxing.

Jan 27, 2026Not a customer oriented all-inclusive
This was our first visit to Occidental Papagayo, or any Occidental resort. Pros: The grounds and setting are beautiful. We stayed in building 22, a first club accommodation. The room was well appointed and clean. We had a patio vs a balcony with a stunning view of tropical vegetation and water. Cons: Based on other all - inclusive resorts stayed at. It was impossible to get restaurant reservations that were not after 8:30 p.m. Through other's, we were able to eat at the Italian one night where the food was good and staff was very accommodating. Another night we ate at the grill. There was not enough staff for the number of diners and the steak was of very low quality. I would not recommend. The buffet restaurant is small and one must be seated. There if often a wait and the food is so so. There are two pools. The cleaning begins after 8:00 a.m and thus delays use. You must also walk to the snack bar to get a beverage. Not nearly as accommodating as other resorts. There is a beach, but it is small and and somewhat rocky. We purchased two excursions which picked up at the beach. Excursion staff was very outgoing, however we felt both (fishing and catamaran) were over priced for the experience. Overall, we did not find this resort to meet standards of a typical "all-inclusive". Long time members have said that the quality and experience is overall diminishing since being purchased by Barcelo.

This was such a fantastic experience!
We loved this place. The grounds were beautiful the pools were lovely and well kept, and staff were friendly and helpful. It was a 20 minute uber ride to Coco Beach and we enjoyed walking the beach, dining at a few restaurants and souvenir shopping.

Beautiful resort
Spent a week here with friends. Grounds are beautiful. Had a wonderful vacation. Oriental restaurant was my favorite. Amazing sushi.
