Requirements for Weddings in Costa Rica
Birth Certificates of both (Bride and Groom): Original and copy
Passport: Original and copy
Certificate of civil state: Single state certificate of the home country. Final divorce decree if either party is divorced, death certificate if either part is widowed. Only originals.
Two witnesses: They cannot be relatives. (If the bride and groom do not bring their own witnesses, the hotel can provide them)
Additional information: Occupation, addresses, nationalities, ages, of both, bride and groom and witnesses.
The bride and groom must be at the property at least 4 days prior to the wedding date, in order to finalize the necessary paper work.
Ceremony must be scheduled with officials at least one month in advance.

Gabriella y Katya in the special lounge are the most helpful, best gals in the business! This is a very chill place, for if you’re not trying to have a crazy crazy- but still very fun, romantic experience!

We enjoyed our stay at Occidental Papagayo. We stayed in the deluxe, king size room. We had a lovely view of the sea and mountains. The unit was clean and large. The food is average. The resort is clean and the landscaping is beautiful. Nice and relaxing place to stay. Not much to do. Just sit back and enjoy each beautiful day with your family.

One week stay at Occidental Grand Papagayo
Great hotel, good value for the all inclusive package we booked. The hotel is really adults only, and quiet in the evening. To our delight, the deluxe room we booked turned out to be an ocean view suite. The view from our ground floor porch was just amazing. The food options are excellent and the grounds are well maintained, and beautiful.

This hotel is in need of a face lift. It is run down and not the cleanest or best furniture. The cleaning staff may need some training as the dust on our very outdated lamp was thick and corners of the floors had stuff still stuck to it, and if you don't leave a tip one day, you do not get all your towels or coffee area replenished and the potential to have something taken...I had a chocolate bar taken from the mini fridge one day and the next day I had a few granola bars on the desk and one of those were taken too. Both pools do not have enough lounge chairs and there is definitely room for more at the pool bar by the beach. They only have four umbrellas at each of the pools and the one by the beach (pool bar) has the umbrellas in the shaded area under the trees? The sun never even reaches there in the morning to 3:30pm when the sun goes behind the trees. So no umbrellas in the sunny area? The pool closer to the lobby is full sun all day, so unless you got an umbrella, we could not sit there. We arrived on a Saturday and had called ahead to request double beds for our group, as we were all friends and did not want to share beds, to find that they did not have that for all of us (group of 10) needing 5 rooms. Some had to share and I fortunately did not, but when we got to our room, the AC was not working. It took them 1 hr to get it running to have it cut out in the middle of the night and woke up sweating. Called down to get it fixed and couldn't get there until 8am, so in 35 degree weather, this was uncomfortable. It finally got fixed, and we came back after a day at the beach to find it off again. We played this dance for three days until they could find us another available room with two double beds. There was no compensation offered and just a sorry. I strongly suggested to them that a good host would either upgrade us, give us some money back (as we wasted hours going back and forth to figure this out) or something from the spa. Finally on day 4 they offered us two 30 min massages at the spa. Then one morning our toilet clogged, called down at 8am to get someone to fix it to only come back to our room at 4pm and not done. Called down again and they said they had no record of me calling earlier and a report should have been made but was not! The a la cart dining is much better than the buffet which is very small for over 300 people. The snack bar offers more American food and did have the best fried chicken I've ever had. But if you were hungry after anything else closed, there was nothing open to have a snack like other places we've been. Lastly, this is not a place for anyone who can't walk a long way to the lobby or up a lot of stairs, as there are plenty of those up to the lobby and up to the rooms with no elevators. If you get a room in a building way to the back away from the lobby, you likely need to call a shuttle. The stairs down to the beach are very narrow and sketchy, so if you have mobility issues, this may not be the right resort for you. The beach is nice and there are some people down there trying to sell things and massages etc. But if you tell them nicely no, they do not bother you too much. Costa Rica is an amazing place to go, but beware of some things about this location as said above.
