Big disappointment
This was a second-rate resort. Although it was “all inclusive,” it wasn’t possible to get a reservation in the ala carte restaurants even though we asked shortly after getting there. All that was available was the Japanese restaurant the last evening we were there. (We had a 4 day stay.) The buffet, where we had to eat most of our meals, had variety with some decent dishes, although the dining room was extremely noisy and it was hard to talk. We had no bath at for the shower when we arrived. Half way through our stay, the toilets stopped working in the room, the restrooms outside the dining room, and the bar nearest the beach. It had still not been fixed upon this writing although we reported it right away. The water stopped working for 12 hours. (They were rationing water bottles until they ran out.)The next morning, after a rain storm, the bathroom was flooded from a leak in the ceiling. The sliding glass door onto the balcony was stiff and heavy and hard to move. The phone didn’t work, so it was necessary to go down to the lobby to report a problem. The tourist office was helpful about arranging tours and the staff was courteous. The building shows lots of signs of wear (rusty, patched racks and walls.) In short, it was not a resort experience. I would not return. Anne Dalton

2/5 weak.
Wouldnt return. Pools and beach were beautiful. Thats the 2 stars. Everthing else, below average. The food was absolutely awful. Hard to find clean tables at the buffet, constantly busy. Our room was dirty and out bathroom leaked from ceiling in multiple spots. Staff really wasnt all that friendly. Seemed annoyed. Wouldnt return or recommend this resort to others.

Occidental Caribe
Upon arriving at the Occidental Caribe, we had to wait almost 4 hours to get our room, which we believe was given to someone else because there was no acknowledgement of our Anniversary per our request at time of booking. We did have a butler assigned to us during our stay, but it started out on a sour note.

Would not recommend
Mostly everything went well. There were a few hiccups. The resort itself is lovely. The grounds are beautiful. The pools are nice, the entertainment staff was fun, the shows at night were really well done. The rooms can use some work. The first one we had when we arrived smelled of mold, and the balcony door wouldn’t lock and the bathroom wouldn’t flush, and the safe wouldn’t close. We spent our first night in the room, waiting for them to come and fix everything. We spent about four 1/2 hours waiting for them. They never came to fix the balcony door. The next day we told them that we want another room and they changed our room and everything was good except that toilet wouldn’t flush either. We called them, but they never came to fix it. We didn’t want to spend another four hours in the room so we ended up just lifting the lid off and pulling the lever up to flush the toilet anytime we wanted to use it! On Thursday, we ran out of toilet paper and when we went out for dinner, we stopped by Reception and asked them to bring some toilet paper to our room. We got back to the room at 11 and no toilet paper so I went back down and asked them again. We stayed up until 12:30 but no one came. I finally got some the next day. The food on the resort at the buffet restaurant was not that good, however, the service was excellent. As soon as you sat down, someone came and asked you for your drink order and as soon as you finish the plate, they would remove the dirty dish right away. The restaurant food was much better. We ate at four different restaurants. The only other thing was that barely anybody spoke English just the people at Reception, but the bartenders, the servers, the entertainment staff nobody spoke English. That surprised me as usually on resorts they speak English, but maybe this resort doesn’t cater to North Americans.

Punta Cana 2025 trip
We had an amazing time staying at Punta Cana. The staff were so very friendly and helpful. This was our first trip to the Dominican Republic and it makes us want to come again. Morgorita Rosolo (hope that is spelled correctly) was our housekeeper and she was amazing.

The Dominican Republic imposes various restrictions each year for Easter. The restrictions usually begin the Thursday prior to Good Friday, and run a few days past Easter Sunday. The following regulations may be enforced:
*Motorized watersports may be banned
*Non-motorized water sports may be limited, or banned
*Alcohol consumption may be restricted (most resorts obtain a special permit which enables them to serve alcohol to nonnative persons during the ban)
*Music may be limited or silencedThese guidelines are currently vague because actual enforcement by the local government does vary greatly from one year to the next. Each year the actual policies are not published by the local authorities until just prior to Easter. These rules are designed for the safety of everyone, as beaches get extremely busy during this period.
