nice hotel good staff excessive noise when it comes to building maintenance.
stayed at the occidental xcaret. we had went as part of a work trip sort of our Christmas bonus. I guess all start with the good things. it really was a beautifully hotel great pools, great walking paths, cool ruins, staff was very helpful and respectfully. the spa was pretty incredible as well next level service and highly skilled for sure. the rooms and hotel where definitely super clean witch is always a plus. All that stuff really was very good. Now the down sides. Food was really mediocre at best. went to la buffet, Paco's tacos, pizzaria, Italian restaurant, steak house, and the Mexican restaurant, beach restaurant and ordered room service (would highly recommend never ordering room service food on average took almost 1h to 1.5h to get to room and quite frankly McDonald's has better tasting food for sure). So the restaurant did have great service but like I said food itself was extremely low standard. its like they where trying to be fancy but definitely fell really short. also jurn my stay they where doing a lot of construction around building 21. witch I understand need to happen for sure but jack hammering concrete right outside of the building for 2 days for 4h to 5h a day was a little much. they also where doing work on the roof of my building jurn the last 2 days witch once again I understand but after getting beat up in the sun all week its really sucked that I couldn't relax in my room because they where literally shaking the whole building as they where working on it. Pretty much the noise level jurn the day in regards to construction and building maintenance is next level high. Just a heads up, the all inclusive part is almost all inclusive not actually all inclusive but that to be expected to a certain extent. In conclusion I would say for the price point it does have a lot of value for sure and I ultimately did have a good time with my stay for sure. Full disclosure I am a a single guy with no kids. So if I was going to come back to Mexico I would definitely stay at a different resort. Based off of that it really is a resort geered twords families with children. Honestly if I had kids and a family it would probably be a good fit.

We were quite satisfied with our stay. Resort needs an upgrade but we’re working on some while we were there. Unlimited water bottles available at all bars and restocking of room fridge which was awesome. Don’t have to carry around with you from the room. Nice jungle setting with animals (monkeys iguanas etc) located next to Xcaret which is not included in resort - some things you read suggest that it may be. Would stay again. Didn’t get tired of food and stayed 10 days. Mexican a la carte was disappointing especially being in Mexico. Italian and oriental amazing! Lots of pool choices and had no problems getting lounge chairs we wanted. Broken lounge chairs at beach need to be removed and not set out as could be dangerous.

Occidental at Xcaret Destination
The outdoor of the resort is very beautiful. Our room experience was not the greatest as the room smelled very moist/humid. We saw what seemed to be black mold on the cover of the AC Vent (not sure if it was black mold or dust, black mold was our guess). Housekeeping did not do a good job in leaving clean towels for us to use after showering. Spent 3 nights, the first night they left clean towels, nights 2 and 3 no clean towels.

Mediocre Resort...
After reading reviews for this resort before my trip (this was a group trip, and I did not choose the location), I actually expected my stay to be much worse. However, while better than I expected, I still would not return or recommend this resort if you enjoy good food or luxury accommodations. I booked a Royal room, but the rest of my party was in the main part of the resort, so I used a mix of both Royal and regular amenities. My Royal room was decent - it was clean and had great AC, but I really felt the bathroom left something to be desired for the resort's highest-level room. The jetted tub was unappealing, with dirty-looking jets, and the bathroom as a whole felt dated. The restaurant in Royal was decent. I very much enjoyed the breakfast every day. Dinner and lunch here were better than the rest of the resort, but I wouldn't say it was high-level fine dining. The service at the Royal restaurant was lovely. The food around the rest of the resort was not for me at all. I didn't like the look of most of the buffet food (I questioned how long it had been sitting out), and there is an issue with flies at the beach buffet. The steak specialty restaurant wasn't great, as I got a bad cut of a fillet. Food is a big highlight of travel for me, and overall, it was disappointing. I will say, the grounds are very clean, the wildlife is awesome, and I really enjoyed the lagoon with no seaweed! These were the highlights for me.
