Oct 23, 2026Loud Construction noises near East tower...DO NOT BOOK!!
DO NOT STAY IN THE EAST TOWER!!! We booked a 10 day trip to Hawaii Waikiki and decided this hotel looked fantastic...and it is. The problem is that right next door the Outrigger is doing renovations and in between both properties is this small building with ducts running from it into the Outrigger. Looks like some type of power and air conditioning for the workers. The NOISE IS 24/7!!! That air conditioning building is very loud, you can't even open your balcony door to enjoy a sea breeze, and forget getting a good nights sleep! They do not mention any of this on their website so you don't know until you check into your room. Btw we got only a $250 credit for the inconvenience. If you can get a West tower that would be much better but probably still a lot of noise. Also the beach experience is ruined due to the daytime construction noise. Best to book the Hyatt across the street and walk to the beach.

Beware of the beach bar pricing. On Oct 17 my wife ordered a Rye Tai and it was $20. On Oct 18 she ordered the same drink, about 6 oz, and was charged $40. Staff told her the first one was cheaper because they were out of their normal rye and used a different whiskey. No price difference was mentioned when ordering, and we only learned of it after paying. Ask the price before you order.

Food not so fresh
Planned a final sunset before heeding home at the beach bar - “daily catch” It reads. The garlic shrimp were a plate of shrimp with minced garlic on top. Location and music gets it more than 1 star. They can and should do much better.

Sep 29, 2026The First Lady of Waikiki stole my heart
I’m afraid any other resort will pale in comparison to our recent stay in an oceanfront room in the Surfrider Wing. From check in to checkout, every staff member that we interacted with treated us with such kindness and graciousness. Housekeeping always checked in and made sure we always had everything we needed. The proximity of the location in Waikiki is unbeatable. I loved the relaxing vibe that is felt the moment you step in the lobby. I will surely return for another stay in the near future and can’t wait to come back. Mahalo, Moana Surfrider and staff.

Sep 27, 2026Wonderful building. This is the most impressive feature of the hotel.
Iconic building with great location. Loved sitting in one of the rocking chairs on the balcony or at the wonderful lobby near the big windows watching street or ocean views. Breakfast is nice but very expensive. Room with city view is good but it not quiet. Swimming pool is disappointing.
