  Disappointing stay – not the standard advertised

  We booked this hotel for our honeymoon, expecting a relaxing stay, but the experience fell well below expectations. The Superior Double Room we paid for appeared significantly smaller than advertised and was poorly maintained, with damaged tiling, an inadequately cleaned bathroom and other signs of neglect. On two nights courtyard event noise continued until approximately 3:30am due to events hosted at the hotel, disrupting our sleep. We raised our concerns with reception twice but were passed between staff and asked to submit a complaint by email. Our retrospective attempts to resolve the matter and obtain a reasonable resolution have been unsuccessful despite whatever response this review might get. The combination of a misleading superior room, poor cleanliness, maintenance issues, a serious privacy incident and excessive noise made this a very disappointing honeymoon experience. We would not consider it value for money and would urge prospective guests to manage their expectations.

  Horrible Bathroom and not good for my 80 year old mom

  What should have been a memorable trip to Paris with my 80-year-old mother and 16-year-old daughter became an incredibly disappointing experience because of this hotel. Upon arrival, we were assigned what felt like the worst room in the entire property. It was tucked away in a back corner, as far from the main lobby as possible. To make matters worse, there were at least ten stairs just to reach the elevator, which was already inconvenient for my elderly mother. The room itself was outdated, stuffy, and had a noticeable stale cigarette smoke odor. The furnishings felt old and worn, and the room was certainly not reflective of the premium price we paid. The most unacceptable issue was the bathroom. The bathtub was extremely high and deep, making it virtually impossible for my 80-year-old mother to safely enter. There were no grab bars or safety features, the tub surface was peeling and slippery, and the entire bathroom appeared run-down and poorly maintained. As a result, my mother was unable to shower for the duration of our stay in Paris. No guest, especially a senior citizen, should have to endure that. When we raised our concerns with management and asked whether another room with a more accessible shower or bathroom might be available, they showed no interest in helping us. We were simply told that nothing could be done. Had we been offered a refund or any reasonable accommodation, we would have immediately moved to another hotel. Even small details demonstrated how outdated the property is. The hair dryer looked like it was decades old and barely functional, further reinforcing the neglect and lack of investment throughout the hotel. For the approximately $1,100 we paid, this hotel delivered absolutely none of the quality, comfort, or service we expected. The lack of concern from management for the safety and well-being of an elderly guest was especially disappointing. I rarely write negative reviews, but travelers, particularly those traveling with seniors or anyone with mobility concerns, should think twice before booking here. This hotel was not worth the money, and unfortunately it was one of the biggest disappointments of our trip to Paris. I would never stay here again.

  Very enjoyable stay in September

  A friend and I stayed at Les Jardins du Marais for 11 nights at the end of September. When we first checked in, we were given a room that was typical size for European hotels but felt a bit cramped for us. We went back to the desk and were promptly greeted by manager Larry who said “let’s see what we can do”. We went back to our room to wait and within 5 minutes, another polite agent came to our room, arm wrestled our bags and took us to our new room. Top floor, corner room with a view of the top of the Eiffel Tower and the Sacre Couer. Small balcony, microwave, cooktop, frig and even a dishwasher! (Highly recommend room 77 in the Eiffel bldg). I’d like to compliment Larry (who also manages the housekeeping staff and came by every day to inspect the room and ask if we needed anything), housekeeper Happiness and the delightful young woman who greeted us in the breakfast room most mornings. All added joy to our stay. To anyone who complains about the service, I’d say all you need to do is ask. Everything we needed (replacement hair dryer, washcloths, bathrobe) was delivered promptly and with a smile. The breakfast was perfect for us, with everything we could want. We were a little concerned about the hotel based on reviews but please, give them a chance to make it right and they will. Highly recommend - used by Road Scholar groups, OAT groups and other large travel companies. Don’t hesitate!

  Great Hotel

  great hotel . location is fabulous, they had provided dog bed, dishes, and toys as well as shampoos, soaps, toys for my granddaughter. Rooms are super clean and spacious, grounds are beautiful, fantastic value

  Overpriced and disappointing

  So disappointed. We paid a fortune per night for 2/3 *, definitely not 4* as advertised. Staff were nice but untrained .. they tried to help in various situations but were way out of their depth. We asked for an upgraded room, it was bleak and tired Elevator was not working to first floor. My husband had a knee injury so this was really tough to navigate. We were told it would be fixed but for the 3 nights we were there it wasn’t. We complained and were offered another room but not upgraded as hotel was full. We stayed put amd navigated the stairs. The outages bar in courtyard ran out of Rose and it was never replenished The hotel was a maze, due to the elevator not working to floor 1 we constantly met guests confused where to go There were few signs. A red plastic tape was stuck on the floor number in the elevator. We had little or no help with concierge ( they don’t have one) The coffee was awful. It had no atmosphere, just like a conveyor belt of people coming and going. The breakfast was in a dingy dark room far from reception and it wasn’t included in our extremely high priced room (almost $500 a night). We were celebrating our anniversary so the whole experience was pretty lame. It was in a good area and near the metro
