  The Outstanding Secrets Moxche Entertainment Team

  Overall the experience was amazing as the quality of service, food, and drinks was exactly what we knew we were paying for. The biggest area that helped us exceed our expectations was the entertainment team that the resort had to offer. We played volleyball in the pool and beach almost every day and just had amazing experiences with each of the entertainment team staff members we interacted with. To single out specifically Joram, Miguel, Adrian, and Sandra were amazing and they enhanced our entire experience from not only the activities but to even getting us to sing karaoke at the sports bar. Another person I want to single out is Ilse, there is not enough good things I can say about her as she was an absolute joy and pleasure to be around and we were sad she was off on our last full day because we really wanted to say goodbye to her. She remembered our names and always made it a point to come up and say hi to us which was a nice personal touch. The last person I wanted to specifically call out was Sergio and similar to Ilse there is not enough good things I can say about him. Every time we saw Sergio it was like we were catching up with an old friend. He always kept an eye out for us before events knowing we were most likely interested in joining but even more than that he made time to make a personal connection with us and go beyond a surface level relationship. It was sad to say goodbye to him on our last day but I am glad that I get to give him such a glowing review because I couldn’t have asked for a better worker to see on a daily basis while on the resort!

  Great new property

  Great property. Relatively new so it was very clean and nice. Pools and food were great and as mentioned, never too crowded

  Nice getaway

  This was my first secrets experience and my husband and I really enjoyed our stay. The heated pool was amazing. And I had probably the best ceviche I’ve ever had at dos Alma’s. The rooms were spacious . We booked the preferred club swim out that was actually private which was nice .

  A cautionary tale for all-inclusive travelers

  Travel long enough and you learn the polished brochure rarely tells the whole story, and this resort proved it. Our entire group fell ill during the stay. For me, it turned into more than a week of recovery, prescription treatment, and days lost to simply getting through it. When things go wrong, how a property responds tells you everything, and here it was a scripted email with no real accountability. Food and water safety is the bare minimum at any all-inclusive, and this one fell short. Save your vacation days for somewhere that takes guest health seriously.

  ⭐⭐⭐⭐ 4/5 – Absolutely Stunning Resort with Exceptional Food and Service, but a Few Disappointments

  My wife and I recently spent five nights at Secrets Moxché celebrating 15 years together. We’ve stayed at several Secrets properties, and Moxché is easily one of the most beautiful we’ve experienced. While a few things kept this from being a five-star vacation, there’s so much to love about this resort! Rooms and Grounds We stayed in room 2820 on the top floor, and it was fantastic! Beautiful modern design, incredibly comfortable bed, and we loved the Secrets Box for room service deliveries. We checked in through Preferred Club and were pleasantly surprised to have our room ready around 2 PM. The pools are absolutely spectacular! The lagoon and cenote pools are some of the nicest we’ve seen at any resort. The lush landscaping gives everything an incredible tropical jungle atmosphere. The Preferred Club rooftop infinity pool was another highlight. Poolside service was consistently excellent. The beach unfortunately had significant sargassum during our visit, so we didn’t spend any time there. Obviously, that’s seasonal and outside the resort’s control. Food and Drinks This was one of Moxché’s biggest strengths. The food was genuinely some of the best we’ve had at any Secrets property! We tried Allora, Suki, and Ember, and every restaurant was fantastic. Ember was probably our favourite, especially the delicious brisket. Breakfast and lunch at Market Café were excellent, as was the Preferred Club beachfront breakfast. Even room service was impressive, with great food and surprisingly quick delivery. Drinks were great, and the service from bartenders, waiters, and pool staff was outstanding across the board. Restaurant Reservations and Preferred Club One of our biggest frustrations was the new restaurant reservation system. Reservations must be made through the app, but you can’t book until you arrive. By then, many desirable times are already unavailable. It also seemed that Impression guests received priority. Preferred Club doesn’t feel quite as exclusive as it once did now that Impression is the highest tier. However, we still enjoyed the rooftop pool and additional dining options and felt the upgrade was worthwhile. Anniversary Disappointments Unfortunately, arranging anything special for our anniversary was frustrating. Before arrival, we were told a romantic breakfast in bed could be arranged. Once there, we were told our only options were regular room service or a floating breakfast for an additional charge. We also tried booking a cabana and dinner at Teodoro for the seven-course tasting experience, without success. Our concierge took my number and suggested she might be able to get us into Teodoro, but we never heard back. When asking about a cabana, we couldn’t even get a clear explanation of what was included. Instead, our concierge spent approximately 25 minutes chatting with us about Justin Bieber, and we left without accomplishing anything! It was particularly disappointing considering we were celebrating a special occasion. The everyday service was exceptional, but the concierge experience and follow-through definitely fell short. Entertainment We managed to catch the 45-minute magic show one evening. Nothing groundbreaking, but entertaining and enjoyable for a resort show! Unfortunately, We Both Got Sick The biggest disappointment was that I developed severe diarrhea on our second day, and my wife experienced similar symptoms shortly afterward. Unfortunately, we remained unwell for the rest of our stay. This significantly limited how much we could eat, drink, and enjoy the resort. Considering how exceptional the dining was, that was especially frustrating. We cannot say what caused our illness and don’t want to unfairly blame the resort. We also didn’t report it to staff, so we can’t comment on how they would have responded. We did subsequently come across other guests reporting similar experiences online, which was concerning, although we can’t confirm any connection. Final Thoughts Despite these setbacks, Secrets Moxché is an incredible resort. The grounds and pools are breathtaking, the rooms are beautiful, the food is outstanding, and the majority of staff provide genuinely exceptional service. The restaurant reservation system and concierge follow-through need improvement, particularly for guests celebrating special occasions. Would we return? Absolutely! We’d love another opportunity to experience everything we missed while feeling unwell. The resort really is that impressive. A solid 4 out of 5 stars, and with a few improvements and a healthier visit next time, it could easily be a five-star experience!
