Enjoyable Stay
This was our second stay with the last stay being in January 2020. We decided to see if it was still as good as we remembered and it definitely was. We booked the family room which is basically two adjoining rooms. Rooms were clean and beds were comfortable. Staff were generally friendly and helpful. The resort is on a vast property so be prepared to do some walking to get to the beach or up to the restaurants, but the nature is amazing with all sorts of animals and birds. Paths are very well lit at night and we always felt safe on the property. They also have a golf cart shuttle service if you prefer not to walk. The pools were fantastic and we were always able to get some where to sit. The beach was also very nice. The food and quality of the drinks was very good. We had no trouble finding items we enjoyed. There is also a small mall on the property that has a burger place, taco shop, cafe and crepe and ice-cream shop. These are all part of the all inclusive package and made for a nice place to go and have a snack or treat. The cafe was like a proper cafe and they made great coffees and had a good selection of fresh donuts each morning. We found the evening entertainment wasn't as good as it was when we stayed in 2020, as they have introduced a few events you now pay extra for, but the other entertainment was still good and we enjoyed it most evenings.

TERRIBLE
Terrible experience from the beginning! My wife and I flew from North Carolina for our 1st ever all inclusive adventure. Reception desk staff did NOT have our reservation and blames IHG. I contacted Iberostar help line and 2 different reps confirmed our PAID reservation and dates! The staff and their supervisor would not except it. I called a 3rd time and an Iberostar rep sent me a confirmation email showing our confirmed dates and that we had paid for our vacation. The supervisor said that she would NOT accept this as confirmation and the Iberostar rep should not have sent me that email. We stood in the Waves lobby for 3 hours pleading our case and showing proof and going back and forth. I even forwarded the email confirmation to the Staff email but it didnt matter. We had to pay a SECOND time to stay for our 5 day trip. We were told to call IHG for a refund and that Iberostar was not responsible for the miscommunication on their end! I even stated that our airline dates were correct, both of us took vacation leave from our jobs and those dates were correct but they DID NOT CARE!! To further the bad experience our room on each day had little aunt like bugs in the bathroom and all over the counters! Even had spider webs on 2 different lamps. Took pics of everything but no one cared. Sad that Iberostar treat their customers and blame the customer for Iberostar negligence!!

First time at The Del Mar
This was my first stay at The Del Mar and I did it solo! Can you imagine going to a place you have never been before, knowing that you will be solely responsible for yourself? Well, I’ll be honest, I wasn’t alone. I had Laura and Ausel in the Star Prestige that took care of my every need. This was something that I hadn’t expected but I am more appreciative than I can say. Needless to say, I will return although the next time I’ve invited my husband so he can enjoy just as I did! Thank you friends!

Absolutely not a 5*
4th trip to Mexico from the uk and I have to say this was by far the worst hotel. Nothing 5 star about it compared to how we’ve been pampered at others. However the main downfall for us was the people at the resort, we love Mexico for the fun upbeat vibes. Staff were so miserable except for the entertainment girls who were absolutely brilliant, asset to that hotel!!!! People seemed to glare at us in anger, which turned funny in the end as we used to smile at them. Not the fun, friendly, wonderful Mexico we know and love! Rooms don’t get very cool, they limit the temp on your aircon which we’ve never had before. Had one chair on our balcony for 2 weeks, asked 3 times never got a chair but our table disappeared and then arrived back 3 days later haha. Gorgeous scenery, beach and entertainment staff. But no 5* and pretty boring!

The worse all inclusive resort I've ever been to
The most terrible experience I've ever had in any of the resorts I stayed with my family. The pictures lead you to believe there're activities for the family, acqua park and such. None of it is true. The acqua park is only on Maya and requires a day pass. There are no activities for the kids, the theater shows are for adults only. The food is horrible, cold and stale. no matter which restaurant you chose. There's a policy for not reserving tables at the beach and pool. The staff doesn't care about it. At 6am everyone reserves a place and staff doesn't remove it. If you come after breakfast, you won't find a place. If you ask the staff to remove the objects from the tables that are there for hours empty, they simply will put you in one of their Balinese beds for free. Which is horrible on the beach because it's in front of an area that is not swimmable and far from the bar and food. After I complained to a manager, they told me they would give me a day pass for their prestige club. I said ok, and they took me for a 2h odyssey to try to sell me their membership and at the end, when I said no to the offer, they gave me a day pass for 2 persons. We are 4. The hotel is the dishonesty embodied in an establishment. If you want a place to go with your family, avoid Iberostar.
