    Different kinda vibe.

This was my 4th time at this resort. I was traveling alone, everything went really well, the staff was amazing. They always make the effort to speak English and remember that we're in their country. The downside was the quality of the food and entertainment at the pool, some of the choices was cold or very dry, this had never happened with the other times. Not much entertainment by the pool, the staff didn't get involved, fewer games. The bar staff are awesome, Maria is the best!!

    Did not speak English

I would like to inform you that I had a very unpleasant encounter during my stay . I had very hard time communicating as most staff did not speak any English . I needed to freeze some breastmilk and I spoke to the check in person requesting a mini fridge with a freezer . I was told that wasn’t possible but they called the guest service and they said they can freeze it for us . The next morning we arrived at the service guest desk with the breast milk and there was no one there for 30 min . We spoke to the concierge who sent us to the closest bar . The bar staff were very unpleasant and unhappy about our request and told us the freezer will be unplugged at 2 am . I was very upset as I was told the day before they can freeze it from Thursday until Monday when I leave . As I was late to an excursion I left the milk at the bar and came back to it afterwords . We had trouble retaining the milk back as the worker did not speak English . Afterwords we had to go back and speak to a different concierge who sent us back to the service guest who said it was no problem and they can freeze it in their staff room . We walked to a different resort reception Iberostar Punta Cana and spoke to their guest service which said they will freeze it in their staff rooms mini fridge until Monday . I tripled checked that it will be frozen , I used google translate to confirm and they reassured me it will be frozen . On Sunday I came back with 4 more bags of breast milk and asked them to freeze it . I once again was reassured it will be frozen and taken care of . On Monday morning I arrived to pick up the breast milk , no one was at the desk so we knocked on the door and was told to come in and take what I needed . To my surprise when I open the fridge , 3 small bags were in the freezer. And 15 bags were in the fridge . I had to through away 15 bags of breast milk at the resort . That is unacceptable and a week worth of food that my baby has lost . I have spent so much time and energy running around the resort trying to get help. I was lied to disrespected . I find that service unexpectable.

    Choice for Budget Travellers

Overall, our stay here at the Iberostar Dominicana was 4/5. The staff made it more enjoyable, from the friendly greetings, service and the day/night entertainment. I recommend going to the night shows! The room is outdated but it’s not bad as other reviews state, it’s a good room. The only complaint would be the food. The lunch time buffet is “Americanized” with pasta, pizza and fried food. Would’ve liked to see more authentic Dominican food. The a la carte restaurants were a hit or miss. The Maria Bonita, Sebila and Italian restaurants were the best. We weren’t a big fan of the smokehouse, the options were limite/ a bit greasy. The drinks/bars were really good, they had a lot of variety and were made well. Lastly, the beach was nice, you had to get there early to get a nice chair but the water and sand were refreshing. Only thing to watch out for, there are a lot of vendors walking along the beach. They won’t harrass you if you say no though. Overall, it was a good experience, I would say it’s more of a 4 star hotel rather than 5.

    My experience about this hotel

If you wanting a good holiday I would not recommend coming here, food is at a level of a 3* hotel at best (that is me being generous), service is non existent had better service at a self catering hotel, entertainment is only catered to Spanish speaking countries haven’t had a night where I heard English music or any thing which could involve everyone and lastly I find the staff are very hit or miss one day they can be friendly and help and then the next day they would even speak to you. From my experience RUI is 100x better with everything than what this Iberostar is. Another thing is if you on the facebook group for this hotel don’t believe anything you read as me and my girlfriend have both put are OPINIONS about this place and we have both been blocked from the group and I even got a lovely message from the administrator telling me “ to get over myself”.

Not a 5 star hotel or experience

I did not do much research when booking this hotel, I just went with the name thinking Iberostar has to be quality and I am also an IHG member. It wasn’t! It started from the greeting. Never, ever have I ever had to bring my own suitcase to the reception area in a 5 star hotel whilst staff just watched and there was only two of us arriving!!! Never ever had I not been offered at least a cool towel or something cool to drink whilst checking in at a 5 star hotel, but we were offered small talk & a chargeable upgrade. This was not the experience I expected at all. Whilst it fell flat at the start, the hotel had some good moments, but not great. The rooms were functional but in desperate need of refurbishment. Our room overlooked the gardens which were beautiful & well maintained. There is no way of walking from the rooms to the main restaurants or reception area without getting drenched in a tropical downpour. The buffet had lots of choice, we always found something to enjoy. We did try the Asian a la carte, it wasn’t good. There was better stir fry’s were in the buffet. We never tried any other restaurant. The staff were very hit & miss, however a lady in the restaurant always looked out for us & wave us to her area & provided us with a wonderful table service every time. We were there during the Euros & one afternoon my husband asked a staff member if they were showing the matches on the big screen. The staff member said give me 10 minutes, disappeared and never returned. There are certain other things about this hotel already noted by others and i regretfully agree. We hope to return to Dominican Republic in the future, but will not be returning to this hotel and would not recommend it to friends or family
