    Now that's better

After our last visit in November I wrote a very downcast view of the hotel and its future as frankly it was a pretty grim experience. Glad I gave it another chance as the last two weeks here have been terrific. Is it perfect? Well no, but it gets 5 stars for value for money. So what has changed? Well to start it was low season and occupancy was generally well within the capacity of the hotel to service it. Also there were no large groups of overlapping wedding parties and this makes such a difference to the ambience. Just families doing their thing on the beach. Sand castles and excited squeals - the sort you get when you mix young kids and sea water. A lot of older couples also at the resort. People having a good time and showing you don't have to drop your personal standards to achieve it! We also noticed that the front of house and supervisory staff in the restaurants have had a big upgrade. On the odd occasion the waiting staff came under pressure they did a great job helping out with making sure tables were laid and even clearing tables. This makes such a difference as the waiting staff can then focus on the guests. Drinks service in the buffets was much improved. Feels like the food direction has had a bit of an overhaul. My sense is that there is maybe a little less choice each day but that the menu changes more frequently meaning that by the end of the two weeks we were still seeing new options. I really appreciated the lamb chops on our last night (my favourite) and the cold roast beef with capers and horseradish dressing that appeared on the antipasto section a couple of times would grace any fine restaurant. It also felt like there was a new direction with desserts - over the last 10 years we have joked that the overriding flavour profile was 'sweet' however this time there was a really distinct flavour profile for most of the desserts. Some great dark chocolate and strong / sharp fruit flavours. The front line staff continue to show great loyalty to the hotel and really make a difference. Jesus and his crew at the roof top bar are exceptional. Jesus has a very deft touch when managing his team and as a result they perform like a proper crew that could staff a busy city centre bar. Another Jesus and the wonderful Isabel (as well as many others) in the buffet restaurants make a real difference. The guys who work relentlessly on the beach to get you beds and brollies are wonderful - helpful and friendly. I think the real difference is that the hotel was doing what I think it does best. Traditional family holidays with a great food and beverage offering. Relaxed approach to entertainment - there if you want it but not imposed on you all day long. Whoever is making some management decision here at the moment is doing a great job - more of the same please and we will see you next Spring!

    Would recommend

Nice resort! Spent a week here. Rooms were nice as was the food. The pool definitely needs renovation as the tiles are falling off. And the room service needs to be replaced as not much offered!! Though quite a ways away from town, it’s a nice quiet resort. Not much in terms of entertainment Mayra at lobby bar was wonderful always service with a smile. Definitely would recommend.

    Entertainment

Eliana and the entertainment team were so great! She told us about all the activities and night shows. The mariachi band was fantastic we loved the Mexican shows too. The water aerobics with Karla was amazing, this resort is a great option for vacation for anyone including the ones thinking of great weddings

Beautiful resort, excellent service, would come again!!

Just spent 10 days at this lovely resort in an oceanfront, sunset view room. The room view did not disappoint. The resort is a bit of a long trek from the PV airport but definitely with the drive. The resort has an app allowing you to make all room requests as well as set and cancel dinner reservations. It’s super easy to use and also has the restaurant menus and the daily activity calendars. In the 10 days we only left the resort once to go into the surf town of Sayulita. Otherwise we spent our days at the pool and also took advantage of the resort factories such as morning yoga, Zumba, dance lessons and fun pool games BIG shout out to the pool servers Ale and Liliana who learned our names and favourite drinks and brought us extra drinks before going in their breaks. The spa massages were Amazing but I would skip the hydrotherapy. It wasn’t great and other spa guests kind of disrupted the zen by being in their phones etc. the golf course was beautiful but VERY expensive so really only worth it if your a serious golfer. We only ate at the buffet for dinner our first night and then we had no problems getting into each a la carts restaurant twice during our stay. Our favourite was the Pacific Express French Bistro themed to look like an antique train dining car. There were ALOT of kids but we didn’t mind too much since we weren’t responsible for them lol. Drinks were strong and there was a huge variety so I tried something new every day. My favourite was the Pineapple Margarita with a Tajin rim.
