Horrible experience if you value your sleep
Absolute horrific experience. Stayed there two nights with my family. Both nights, incredibly loud music played well into the night - close to midnight one night, and well past midnight the next. I’m talking music so loud that even after you close all the windows and turn on a white noise machine in the room, it sounds like you’re at a club. Calls to the front desk were met with promises to check out the issue, to no avail. The overnight manager even promised a personal follow-up the next day, which of course didn’t happen. At the end of the day - it doesn’t matter how good the food or the service is. If a hotel cannot offer you a quiet place to sleep at the end of an active day, what’s the point? If you have young children - STAY AWAY!

Mixed Experience at Hyatt Ziva Los Cabos During Our milestone Anniversary Stay
We visited Hyatt Ziva Los Cabos over the holidays to celebrate our milestone wedding anniversary with our family. While the resort offers beautiful grounds, great beach access, and genuinely friendly service staff, our overall experience fell short of the expectations we had for a Hyatt Ziva stay—especially in terms of room quality and loyalty recognition. What went well Resort & Activities: The property’s beach access is superb, and the daily activities were well organized. The kids club was fantastic and kept our children happily engaged throughout the holiday season. General Service: Day-to-day service around the resort was consistently warm and helpful. Most team members were kind and welcoming. Food Concierge: The food concierge was responsive and helpful with dining guidance. What disappointed us Room Quality & Initial Assignment: The first room we were provided felt quite dated. We had to return to the front desk and request a room change, which was accommodated—but it set a disappointing tone. Explorist Loyalty Recognition: Despite booking with our stated reason (anniversary celebration) and status, there was no loyalty welcome or meaningful Explorist perk provided. The front desk mainly recited discount percentages rather than acknowledging status with tangible benefits. Anniversary Coordination & Communication: We called, emailed, and even tried Hyatt chat to confirm an anniversary note for December 26th. Emails kept bouncing back and never reached the property. The concierge asked us to submit the complimentary request the day before, which we did on December 25th, but nothing was fulfilled. We had to remind the team again on the evening of December 26th and re-request the benefit. This last-minute scramble undermined the special occasion we hoped to enjoy. Missed Member Discount & Refund: Our member status wasn’t accurately recorded for the applicable dining discount. We requested a partial refund, which was acknowledged but still hasn’t been processed. As of now, we are waiting on a $40 refund. Construction Noise: There was noticeable construction and noise around the property, with no prior warning. It impacted the atmosphere and relaxation we expected for a premium holiday stay. Room Comfort: The room could have been more presentable for the Hyatt Ziva category. The sofa bed was not comfortable—the thin spring mattress offered little support. Romantic Beach Dinner (Paid Experience) Positives: The setup matched what the concierge described and the photos we’d seen. The beachside ambiance was lovely, and the meal itself was delicious. Areas to Improve: The palate cleanser was forgotten before the main course and arrived before dessert, slightly interrupting the dining flow. Communication on the day of the dinner was lacking; we received no clear instructions on timing or exact location and had to proactively ask, which felt disorganized for a premium, planned experience. Mosquitoes were a significant issue—while waiting for food and drinks, my wife was swarmed, which made the evening uncomfortable and distracted from the romance (photos available). Service was decent but not “above and beyond” for a milestone celebration. Suggestion: Including champagne as part of the experience would help elevate the celebration and make it feel truly special. Bottom line Hyatt Ziva Los Cabos has strong fundamentals—beautiful beach access, engaging activities, and kind staff—but our stay was impacted by outdated room quality, construction noise, mismanaged loyalty benefits, and poor communication around our anniversary. We left feeling underwhelmed and would be hesitant to recommend this property to friends and family unless improvements are made in room standards, status recognition, refund timeliness, and special-occasion coordination.

Just okay
We traveled to Hyatt Ziva Los Cabos as a family of four with two older children during Christmas week. We had looked forward to this trip and really wanted to like this place. And there are some positives. But overall, this is a midrange 3.5 to 4 star resort masquerading as a “luxury” resort. It is a far cry from a true 5 star luxury resort such as Grand Velas or even a 4.5 star property such as Grand Solmar, both of which we’ve stayed at in the past. Adjust your expectations accordingly. POSITIVES - Above average to good service levels, especially among restaurant staff which somewhat offset the mediocre food quality (more on that below) - Multiple restaurants and casual dining options (unlimited with no need to make reservations except for teppanyaki at Dozo) - Friendly and efficient check-in process - No wristbands needed for activities, dining or anything else - No sales pitch for timeshares or “extras” - Beautiful and convenient beachfront location - Large but compact resort that is easy to navigate - Multiple large pools - Nice large gym with two outdoor pickleball courts and a basketball hoop - Reasonably comfortable and quiet rooms with decent sleep experience NEGATIVES - Loud music with heavy bass thumping from the head of the pool throughout the day and into the evening (from about 11am to 10pm) that disrupts any sense of tranquility - Highly trafficked property with visible signs of wear and tear and stains, especially in non-renovated rooms and around the pool area (bathrooms, casual snack areas etc); surprisingly, even the newly renovated lobby looked worse for wear with stained upholstery throughout - Some of the bartenders and waitstaff in the pool area appeared exasperated and overworked and were not as friendly or as pleasant as restaurant staff - Lots of small children (could be a positive if vacationing with small children) - Lacks an overall sense of luxury and doesn’t feel “special” - Property grounds and landscaping are “just okay” (feels staid and ho hum) - Inconsistent food quality ranging from below average to slightly above average (more below) DINING Overall, it’s meh, just okay, a B-. It’s barely good enough not to ruin the experience entirely. Bon Vivant (French) and Mahika (Indian) were generally above average with good service. All others were below to very average. Avoid the Station, Plaza buffet, Coffee House, and Healthy Bar. Fresh fruit and juice options are very limited (almost non-existent) at this resort and drink quality is mediocre and inconsistent throughout. Mahika easily had the best drink options. If you’re a foodie or accustomed to 4 or 5 star dining or prioritize food quality on vacation, this is not it. OVERALL As stated above, we really wanted to like this place but ended up with very mixed feelings. If you’re traveling with small children and you value convenience and ease above luxury, this place might work for you at the right price. However, you must be willing to accept this compromise and adjust your expectations accordingly. Otherwise, you will be disappointed. If you’re searching for a true luxury experience with quality and attention to detail, this is not it. If you’re searching for a quiet and peaceful place to relax, definitely steer clear, as it is much too loud to create a serene experience. Ultimately, we had an okay vacation and it was convenient. But it was not a delightful experience.

Amazing
Deisi Colio at Casa Cortez was absolutely incredible. My husband and I went for the last day of our honeymoon and she made the experience completely personal and wonderful. She went the extra mile, bringing special meals, cocktails, and a whole cake to end our meal. She took care of us and made us feel so special.

Amazing!
The service was absolutely amazing! Everybody, especially Rick who was our concierge, was so kind and went out of their way to make a memorable vacation for my family. The resort was also spotless and had great amenities. We would 100% come back!
