Everything about this place is perfect. The staff, the atmosphere, the music. There is a quick free shuttle to the beach club. The rooms are new and clean. Lots of free yoga and other activities. The restaurants a gorgeous and all inclusive. I’ve never been so pleased with a hotel and I’ve stayed at A LOT.

A must visit especially the roof top pool. Do the upgrade to the vantage pkg, will not disappoint. More than satisfied. Will visit again!

Jan 04, 2026Decent Resort But Would Not Return
Hi to all my traveling friends... This is a review of the Hyatt Vivid Grand Island in Cancun, Mexico. First off, the resort is relatively new - less than two years old. The resort is located away from the beach - first warning. They use a transfer van to take people from the resort to a beach they own about seven minutes away from the resort. So, if you are looking for an "on-the-beach" resort, this is not your resort. The resort itself is relatively new with unheated two pools and an unheated spa. The water was cold - I was disappointed by the cold pool temperature and the unheated spa (I have never been at a resort with an unheated spa - for me it was odd). The rooms are nice and well appointed, but they could improve by providing bar soap (they provide a bath gel in the shower which we initially rotated from the shower to the sinks until we called for bar soap for our room). The showers were decent - the water was hot, but the water pressure was modest. We had a bay-side room. Caution - the crowd is young and rowdy. Parties were at the pool on the bay side and lasted till the early morning, and we experienced all the revelry vicariously as the party noise echoed up into our room. If you want a quieter experience definitely buy an ocean-side room (roughly $800 more for the week). Another odd issue was that the resort is located roughly a kilometer or half mile from the guard house. If you are being picked up for a tour at the guard house, there is no hotel-provided shuttle service. Instead, you need a pay a taxi six USD to shuttle you to the guard house. This was unfortunate and I hope the resort reconsiders this and subsequently provides a shuttle service for guests being picked up for tours at the guard house. The hotel has no ATM and no change. I was repeatedly unable to tip hotel personnel because of the lack of change. Unfortunate. I got Vantage Club membership automatically because of my Hyatt status. You get rooftop access, a rooftop restaurant, and a bar with better liquor. If this is important for you, pay the cost. If not, avoid it - it wasn't anything special for us. We stayed through New Year's Eve and they wanted a special fee for the New Year's Eve party. In my opinion, skimpy. We took a tour instead and avoided the drunk newlyweds... The food was decent. Avoid the high-end dishes (for example steaks) and stick to staples and the food is fine. The buffet is best at breakfast, so-so for lunch, and worst for dinner. However, it was our favorite dining option out of all the restaurants. On the other hand, the wait staff was uniformly excellent. Kind, warm, friendly, and excellent with service. They were the bright spot of our stay. All in all, I enjoyed my stay, but would not return to this resort. Hyatt provides premier resort experiences globally and in Cancun there a number of Hyatt properties (for example, Secrets) that provide a higher level of experience than the Hyatt Vivid Grand Island.

Attentive staff
Booked as a last minute getaway, pleasantly surprised at value received. Staff across the board were welcoming, friendly, ready to help make our trip more enjoyable. Hotel was clean and well kept. Food was high quality with plenty of options on property. We would have liked some higher tier alcohol options but this was not a dealbreaker. Property next door being developed for vacation club but we had no pressure to listen/join.

Ambience is appealing. We were disappointed in the meal quality. Also did not like the limitations on making reservations for the restaurants.
