  Returning to one of our favorites

  We have stayed here before and love the area and the facilities. The views of la grand via are phenomenal and the service is excellent. Highly recommend

  Great experience

  Alvaro and Irene were incredible guest at the front desk - attending to all our requests and making our stay so easy and nice! Great ambassador of Madrid! In general they were all very helpful! We will come back for sure! Keep the passion up!

  Magical Madrid

  I stayed at the Hyatt on Gran Via and had a wonderful experience. My room was very clean and spacious, with comfortable beds. I had wine and tapas on the roof top with was beautiful.

  Magnifico!

  My daughter and I thoroughly enjoyed the atmosphere of elegance, the splendid breakfast buffet, and the rooftop bar. It is walking distance to museums. Staff was exceedingly helpful. Congrats to Mario and his lovely staff. Hope to return. Michael and Mary

  Excellent Location and Breakfast, but Not a Five-Star Experience

  We stayed at the Hyatt Centric Gran Via Madrid on September 22, 2026, and unfortunately our experience did not resonate with what we would consider a true five-star hotel experience. Given the overwhelmingly positive reviews, we arrived with fairly high expectations, but ultimately found the hotel lacking the sense of arrival, service, room quality, and overall “wow factor” we associate with a property positioning itself at this level. The arrival experience was our first surprise. The entrance itself is not particularly impressive or welcoming, and the check-in area located toward the back of the hotel felt somewhat strange. Rather than feeling like a five-star arrival, our initial reaction was almost, “Are we at the right place?” We are American Express Platinum cardholders and were not offered an upgrade at check-in. More disappointing, however, was the room itself. We were staying in what was described as a Junior Suite on the ninth floor, yet the room felt fairly uninspiring for the category and price paid. The bathroom was extremely small for something marketed as a suite, the shower had very low water pressure, and the water never became properly hot—only warm or cold. Most disappointing was the view. From the ninth floor, we looked directly at the wall of an adjacent building with essentially nothing to see. Even if a better room was unavailable at check-in, it would have been appreciated if the hotel had offered to move us should something with a better outlook become available during our stay. The rooftop was also a significant factor in our decision to book this hotel. Unfortunately, it was effectively unavailable to us because a private event occupied the space over multiple days. This was particularly frustrating because the rooftop is heavily promoted as one of the hotel’s amenities and common areas. With Madrid experiencing temperatures above 90°F during the day, we specifically hoped to enjoy it in the evening after sunset, but never had the opportunity. The downstairs bar/seating area near reception was another confusing aspect of the property. We wandered over twice hoping to have a drink or something to eat, but on both occasions there appeared to be nobody staffing or attending the area, so we simply left. There were certainly some positives. The location is excellent, the room was very quiet, the bed was comfortable enough, and navigating between the room, elevators, and hotel entrance was refreshingly straightforward. The standout was breakfast, which was genuinely excellent—10/10 and easily the highlight of the hotel for us. Unfortunately, breakfast was also about the only aspect of the property we genuinely looked forward to returning to. We never found ourselves excited to come back to the hotel or to our room during the stay. At this price point and with a five-star positioning, we expected a much stronger sense of hospitality, atmosphere, room quality, and occasion. For us, the Hyatt Centric Gran Via Madrid functioned as a well-located and comfortable city hotel with an excellent breakfast, but the overall experience felt considerably closer to a solid four-star property than the memorable five-star experience we had expected.
