Old, Tired and Needing Renovations!
I have stayed here many times over the years. This WAS a wonderful hotel many years ago, and it has steadily gotten more dated, more beat up, less polished, and more worn out. The furnishings in the room look like they came from a bad thrift store! They charge like a five star hotel, but it looks like a three star hotel. The staff is adequate, but most act very entitled; ridiculous for a three star hotel! And the”resort fee” is absurd for a place like this—scarcely a resort in any way! It could be a nice hotel with a total renovation, but short of that, it is mediocre at best.

Lovely hotel and staff
We really liked this hotel. The staff was absolutely amazing. Our accessible room was perfect. It was really nice to have a laundry facility in the hotel as we spent a few days there before a cruise. The pool area and bar was very nice. We really liked the location-there was an ABC store across the street and many restaurants in the area. We ate breakfast at their MAC restaurant and it was great. We didn’t do the buffet but ordered alacart. The robot that delivered the food was a nice surprise. We will definitely stay here again when we return to Honolulu.

The place grew on me but needs a makeover!
The hotel is not a resort & needs a makeover and wouldn’t require much to do that. Dining facilities: The coffee shop open til 1pm is cramped in what was likely a pantry converted into a coffee shop, they should add a coffee bar in the middle of their lobby like a round shape coffee bar to make their dining options look presentable and modern bc the one “Starbucks” is looking really sad. Also the specialty drinks aren’t all the same ingredients as the normal Starbucks and that was a let down. Breakfast. Long lines & slow seating make it Tedious to sit down for breakfast - long waits til 9am! The breakfast diner MAC is tucked in the back. the a la carte menu is much better than the breakfast buffet which I think is limited for the price and comparing to other Hilton hotels. I did like the fried rice with eggs and Japanese breakfast (although why the Smokey flavor in miso soup? I didn’t like the that). Rakell & Pam however are nice servers. The bar area could be revamped to look more appealing - maybe some plants? but right now it looks like an airport gate waiting area. Room: my immediate reaction to the room was the furniture in my room is very bulky and it doesn’t seem updated since the early 90s. Wasn’t keen on the yellow color scheme. I wore slippers my entire stay bc floor was sticky in some parts, the flooring is weird synthetic material and they need to mop it more frequently. The plus about my room is there was a lot of counter space in both bathroom and main room. By my third night the room did grow on me. Area: the area is central to everything. You can catch the W Line and other buses to just about anywhere on the island and you are 1 long block from Waikiki beach which was nice to walk to see the sunset . Entertainment & spa: I missed the magic show but it was cool to see they also offered free magic lessons at 3pm everyday - I wish I did that

Mediocre service recovery.
It was my partner’s birthday and we both haven’t been to Hawaii so we booked it and took her younger but adult sister with him. The entrance to get in the hotel is so small making cars lined up for valets, though the valets are quick and great. The hotel’s entrance is of decent size but the locations of their services seem to not be customer-focused. You’ll see first the counter thinking it might be the reception but it is for timeshare. I was assisted by a woman and did not thank me for my Hilton loyalty. We checked in on higher floor. My partner and I had the corner room. I paid for an upgrade for both rooms. It has a long balcony. Unfortunately, the shower cannot be turned off on our 3rd night of six. We were informed by the repairman that someone will come in again to have a look and he cannot guarantee that it will. I asked if we would be provided the same type of room, he told me to call the reception. The reception actually called me, I believe that she was the lady that assisted in obtaining a little cheesecake and a bottle of rose thru Bernardo’s (Mac restaurant’s manager) help. She told me that we will be moved to a lower level room, just two floors down. After packing up and going to our new room, we were in the middle of the hallway, so you can hear people come and go. She also told me that as a part of service recovery, she will take away the resort fee and the parking (which we had, and it was for our last night). With regards to the 1st room, it’s of decent size, the furnitures still does it purpose but the carpet has seen better days. If you are at least 6 feet tall, be careful not to hit the ceiling of the shower when you’re shampooing since it is low. The second room is worse, one of the bedside drawers is broken. It’s smaller and the balcony is too cramp. The hotel’s pool is too small for a hotel its size. The buffet is something of a joke, though their fried rice as a side order is a bomb! Overall, their service recovery could have been better by crediting me back the upgrade to the corner suite. It is only then that you’ll do your service recovery. I had to go to the front desk since when they email me the receipt, it did not make sense. Could have stayed in a different Hilton instead since this is two blocks away from the beach.

A Very Good Choice In Waikiki With An Amazing View!
We had a great long weekend here. Upgraded to an ocean view on the 35th floor and what a view it was! The hotel is nicely located near the beach, restaurants and shopping, yet a quieter neighborhood. There have been some nice improvements and renovations, the bathroom was very nice - but still places where the wear and tear of constant tourists does show. Hopefully they will keep up with upgrading the hotel over time. A big shout out to Addy, our restaurant and pool bar hero. She was so fun and personable and very professional. We will miss her. Also like to give kudos to Dexter at the front desk and Michelle, one of the managers who helped out with a pool situation. Downside: The Mac 24/7 restaurant does not live up to it's hype and the magician hawking his show in the lobby everyday began to seem like someone on the street asking for money. It got annoying having to avoid him in the lobby every day. But we did enjoy the old Hawaii feel of the place, a lot of history in the building alone.
- AdvisoryThe Hilton Waikiki Beach Interim Pool in the Gazebo area is now open! The hotel now has 2 pools for your guests to use during their stays until the start of the 10th floor pool renovation project towards the end of January
