Dec 03, 2025Another Incredible Thanksgiving at Grand Velas Riviera Maya – Thanks to the Amazing Pool Team!
This was our family’s fourth year returning Thanksgiving getaway to Grand Velas Riviera Maya, and once again it was absolutely unforgettable. The resort itself is beautiful, the food is outstanding, and the grounds are immaculate — but the real reason we keep coming back year after year is the incredible pool staff. Luis and his team — Miguel, Reuben, Michael, and Jorge — are truly exceptional. Their service is consistently prompt, thoughtful, and incredibly friendly. They anticipate your needs, remember your preferences, and go above and beyond to make everyone feel welcome. Whether it’s finding the perfect spot by the pool, bringing out drinks before you even ask, or making sure the kids are having as much fun as the adults, they make each day feel special. Without this team, the experience simply wouldn’t be the same. Our family has been fortunate to travel to many great resorts, but nowhere else have we found a staff that makes us feel so at home. Grand Velas is already a world-class destination, but Luis and his crew elevate it to something truly memorable. We’re already looking forward to next Thanksgiving — and it’s all because of them. Everything We Needed and Wanted
We love the staff at Grand Velas, they are what makes it so wonderful. Our very favorite is Luz at Grand Class, along with her team (Yazmin,Daniel,Javier), and Edwardo the manager is hard working and made sure our experience was exceptional. Bistro staff work seamlessly together and remember the details of our preferences: Edgar,Raymundo,Francisco,Fernando, David,Isaac, Samuel (I hope I didn't forget any, they all are so happy to provide great service. Also Manuel and Alejandro at Frida, Alejandra at Sin Lin. Thank you all for a relaxing vacation :D

What is not to love!!
We were completed wowed by Grand Velas!! Luxury at its best. Lovely location. Great pools. On the beach. Just the right size: never feels crowded. The restaurants and coffee shop, teens club, gym and of course a Michelin rated restaurant were just ‘perks’. Above all, their service is to die for! They strive to make sure you have a good time, and treat you like a king. Nora was our concierge and made us feel special, was always in contact, and very diligent in making sure we had reservations/activities/transportation set up. We are coming back for sure!!

Exquisite Experience by the Caribbean sea
We are simply blown away by our 6 night stay over Thanksgiving week! I knew the Grand Velas would be a 5 star experience but I never imagined just how special this place is. From the moment we arrived, we were treated like royalty. Bags whisked away quickly and in a moment we all had welcome drinks in hand. Although it was 10:30 am and check in isn’t until 3, we were offered to dine at one of the fabulous restaurants while we waited for our room to be ready. We sat down for a tasty breakfast buffet and within an hour, our suite was ready! Amazing! Our lovely concierge, Raul, took us to our suite in the Zen are, it was huge and perfect for my family of three. We felt very comfortable and loved that we had a private patio with a little lily pond. We enjoyed spending time on the patio during our stay watching turtles and fish swimming. We were surprised that we would need to take a shuttle to get to the beach. At first, I was disappointed as I had hoped we could walk to the beach but it truly was no big deal at all. A 30 second walk to the Zen spa where shuttles run continually 24/7. We were at the Ambassador within 2 minutes, at the beach within 3 minutes! We spent many days plopped in front of the Ambassdor pool, which is the perfect temperature. Ruben, Humberto, Michael and others took care of us with never ending drinks and tasty food orders! They all treated us so well and with giant smiles on their faces. We had reserved our dinner reservations in advance and every single restaurant was an amazing experience. We especially loved Piaf and Sen Lin. We wish we had tried Lucca but next time! We also took advantage of room service and dined at the Chaka restaurant for breakfast almost every day. We also really enjoyed two “group” dinners on the beach at the Ambassador, the Thanksgiving dinner and show was especially memorable. My daughter and I also rented stand up paddle boards and had fun paddling in the sea. We also reserved the jet ski for 1 hour. I wish I could remember the name of the sweet young man who offered to drive us around. He took us on a tour of the coastline and it was an adrenaline-filled experience! Then he let my daughter drive and he was so kind and patient with her! What a wonderful experience. If you are looking to feel extremely pampered and treated like royalty but not in a formal way but more of a “you are part of our family” way, go to the Grand Velas! I texted Raul nonstop with requests and questions. He graciously answered and helped us with anything we needed! What a gem of a human being! Living on the West Coast, we usually go to Hawaii for our tropical getaways, but I think from now on we will be coming to the Grand Velas! Nothing compares and we usually stay at luxury resorts in Hawaii. We can’t wait to come back very soon! Thank you all for making our vacation so truly special!

Fabulous Thanksgiving Getaway
We just returned from 4 days at the Grand Velas Riviera Maya. Our group consisted of 11 people - 6 adults and 5 kids - ranging from ages 8 to 79. We were there over Thanksgiving and had a fabulous time! There are lots of activities if you feel like participating, and the grounds are gorgeous. We stayed in the Zen area which is beautiful and just a quick ride over to the ambassador section of the property. The staff here is outstanding! So warm and welcoming, always ready to help however they can. I have to give a special shout out to our concierge, Izamar Soto. She was there to greet us upon our arrival and saw us into our airport transportation upon our departure, along with being a quick text away if we needed anything at all during our stay. She checked in with us daily, both via text and in person and is just delightful. She lined up spa appointments for the younger kiddos (yes, a mini spa!!) and for our teens in the cabana spa. Such a treat for the kids! Our vacation became even more relaxing knowing Iza was there to help if we needed anything. Highly recommend this hotel. Our family will definitely be back!
