    Shade

This has so far been a very enjoyable family holiday. With a few small problems that could make the experience better. 1st the good. The staff at the hotel are very friendly and hard working. The food has also been of a good standard in most places we had eaten. Now the bad!! Shade! There is almost no shade from the sun in this hotel. I can’t understand why they have no parasol’s. There are a few cabanas round the pools but that’s it. Unless you are out by 5am you will not get near a cabana. So no shade. With this being a family hotel this is no use for children who need to get out the sun.

    Worst Resort and Vacation ever

DO NOT STAY HERE. BOOK SOMEWHERE ELSE!!!!!We are still here and this has been by far the worst vacation and the biggest waste of money spent. We normally stay adults only and have traveled to Mexico many times. This year we decided to bring our little and chose this place for the kids amenities and the 5 star reviews. This resort is trash! We paid to upgrade to the family resort so the little would have things to do. On our first day the AC in our room didn’t work, I called the front desk clerk said that is how it is supposed to be, we complained the next day and it took an act of congress to get our rooms changed. The new room while cooler has roaches very bad, the tv doesn’t work and the door doesn’t close and it has a mildew like smell. We contacted them again, and it went no where. The staff is very rude and unfriendly. The drinks are trash and made me nauseated all week. What they do not tell you when you book is that you only have access to certain liquors. SMH. There was really nothing to do for the kids the way online leads you to believe. The beach is dirty, the pools are dirty, the food is nasty even at the reservation needed restaurants. If there was a zero star I would give it and I am stuck here 3 more days. I have almost cried to go home twice. I have never wanted a vacation to be over so bad. I can say this with certainty I hate this place. I will never recommend any one here and told my travel agent do not book anyone for here it is a terrible resort! I wish I would have spent my money elsewhere. I need a vacation redo to recover from this. We travel often and have experienced many resorts in the Caribbean. NOTHING has even been as bad as this. My little even wants to go home! Do not stay here! Book somewhere else!

    Couldn’t fault it!

What a place! Very surprised at the bad reviews and to be honest it did worry us for our visit but we had a great time. Weather was perfect, we arrived just after the hurricane and you couldn’t even tell there had been one. The wildlife is amazing. Pool bars, Jose, Romeo and Mateo made it for us drinks flowing great chat, we loved them! Cleaners do a great job we didn’t bother entertaining platinum due to cost but glad we didn’t the deluxe suite was enough. Buffets cater for everyone SO MUCH food, it’s a wonder how this hotel makes money! Tuesdays and Wednesday are the best buffet nights. Mama Mia is the best restaurant to go too. Excursions we booked through BD the guys in red on site- Xplor fire- Xplor I think would be unmanageable in the day time due to the heat, it’s a lot lot lot of walking but get to zip line, boat through the caves, drive buggies ect not really suitable for young children YOU WILL NEED ENCLOSED SHOES OR WATER SHOES Xcaret is amazing suitable for all ages the river walk is great and the beach is lovely if you can- try adrenalina it was so much fun! If you intend on buying souvenirs wait until you’re at the airport as it’s cheaper than the hotel shops! Ladies in pink on the beach- best massages and great price. Tips- from the UK tipping is not natural to us however we did not feel pressured to tip once but chose to because such lovely staff. We took £150 for tips for a 11 night stay and it was just enough’! As an animal lover the wildlife aspect was amazing - not so nice to see the cats as I personally felt they needed more care. So much more I could write but will definitely be coming back, what a great stay!

    Lovely friendly hotel

We are having a lovely holiday here! Had a few hiccups with rooms on arrival but sorted quickly and given access to chill out beach and champagne as an apology. We find the buffet offers a real choice at breakfast and dinner (not tried it for lunch) and haven’t found bookings too difficult to get at the a la cartes. Julio (Escorza) has been a fantastic help sorting our bookings for these and is a credit to the hotel. Really friendly and knowledgable. The hotel has a variety of entertainment on offer in the evenings and even though that’s not normally our kind of thing we have enjoyed some of these a lot. We have booked a few trips so hopefully they will be as good!

Ignore the negative reviews and have an amazing holiday!

Firstly, I’m here at the moment with my wife & daughter, if you’re worried about the negative reviews please.. stop worrying! This is our 2nd visit to this hotel, last time in 2016. The hotel is beautiful, the wildlife is amazing and the hotel staff are so friendly, special recognition has to go to Wilbur in the Sports bar who has looked after us every time we’ve visited the bar. Our favourite restaurant has been the Italian so far but you must visit the Teppanyaki for a good fun show with lots of tasty food! Yes the rooms are a little dated but kept well cleaned from our amazing cleaning lady, Maria Franco, who is always smiling and helpful. The front desk staff moved our room for us, 3 days after we arrived, when I asked for the suites to be adjoining, they even asked if I wanted help to move my belongings! We booked 2 trips, Xelha and Explor, xelha was brilliant and going to Explor at the weekend.
