    The best inspite of

We visited soon after Hurricane Melissa. Not everything was working and not all restaurants were open everyday, but they did rotate them during the week. Celebrated my birthday and daughter's 10th wedding anniversary.

Staff are trying, hotel and tour operator just want your money

Booked a stay here through TUI 6 months ago as had everything that we wanted from a holiday to Jamaica as advertised on their website. And then the hurricane happened. First our room type was changed by TUI as the Lady Hamilton side is closed due to damage (to be fair some of the roofs do look like they have damage). Contacted TUI to get reassurance that all facilities are still as expected, which they assured us were as advertised. However this is not the case, and I’m writing this review for people like us who will have been given the option to cancel for a full refund. Things that are different from advertised… 1) there are absolutely no water sports. It’s closed down and not opening. 2) only 1 of 3 buffet restaurants are open 3) a la carte restaurants only open twice per week each (so there isn’t the choice) 4) limited operating times on bars (and even then they close before the advertised time) We were recommended by guest relations that “you must go to sunset cove, grab a drink and watch the sunset”. The sun sets at around 5:30pm, life guards, bars everything stops at 4:30pm! The staff are trying their very best (I understand that grand palladium has laid off lots of staff since the hurricane) and we’ve come with extra cash for tips as they deserve it. But the hotel operators and TUI have let us down and they are blaming everything on the hurricane. I would have loved to come here without the limitations, however as it is and with a Time Machine I would take the refund option every day of the week. I feel let down by both the hotel and TUI, both of who I contacted prior to our trip for reassurance on facilities. Sadly the facilities on offer don’t currently align with a 5 star hotel that has cost many thousands of pounds to visit.

    Wonderful vacation!

This was our first trip to Jamaica and second time at a Palladium (we’ve been to Punta Cana). A lot of the other reviews mention the large size of the resort and Lady Hamilton not villas are not open so I won’t speak much about that. What I want to talk about is the AMAZING people that work here. I am deeply moved by the care we received despite what they have went through. We were booked Signature Level and I would 100% recommended upgrade. The crews at the TSL lounge and pool were the most sincere and friendly people I have ever met. Kevon, if you see this review, I want you to know how much I enjoyed your company and conversation. You are a top notch human and the world is a much better place because of you, as well as being such an asset to this resort and Signature Level. Mario and Romaine were both so fun and friendly. I think I could have spent my whole vacation just hanging out with you guys and enjoying the spectacular view from the pool and enjoying Coral Beach. One morning I met a gardener named David and he cut a flower for my wife and offered to pose us for a photo and took great pictures with my camera for me. I also have to give a shoutout to Nathan the lifeguard. The conversation that I had with him one afternoon was so moving that I am still having goosebumps just thinking about his kindness and his perspective about life and all its beauty. I hope to see you again when we return.

    Want All Lose All

The Palladium was simply not prepared to have guests as a result of the category 5 hurricane Melissa that devastated Jamaica ... and it showed. They should have remained closed a while longer. Although I was unable to speak to anyone at the hotel after calling daily, 2-3X per day for over 2 weeks, the Palladium Group refused to refund my all-inclusive fees and instead emailed me with the penalties that they would assess should I cancel my stay. Only after our arrival were we told that we would not be staying at the Lady Hamilton side of the property because of hurricane damages. Again we were not given a choice to cancel but rather told we would be staying at the Grand Palladium, a choice we would not have made. Furthermore, when we requested an ocean room view (many of which were available because of very low occupancy) because of all the inconveniences and aggravation, again we were refused. No show of goodwill whatsoever. And as was predictable, the food at times was cold, stale, about the same each day even as the variety dwindled over time. Issues with our room included standing water in the sink, slow toilet, no phone service, spotty wi-fi, and no drawers in which to place clothing. It was. also eerie being at a hotel that was so empty... and lifeless. The staff made up for this as much as they could. However, one couldn't help but sense the palpable suffering they were still experiencing having just undergone the devastation of hurricane Melissa! I would say greed rather than genuine concern for paying guests and a hurting staff was the chief motivator for Palladium. Not worth it.

    Recent experience after hurricane Melissa

I just returned from Grand Palladium. I was nervous about traveling there with family so soon after the hurricane. It is about an hour driving from the airport. The lady Hamilton side is closed for repairs which is understandable and guest are staying on the Jamaican side. There is a lot of walking from the rooms to the food/entertainment/pool. They do provide golf cart shuttles upon request or if you can flag one down. The property is beautiful. My room was on the ground floor in Suite 14. It was clean. There are no satellite antennas for the televisions in the rooms. However, there were TVs in the sports bar. All the staff I encountered were friendly. Shout out to: Owen - steakhouse Marlon - Italian Carl -signature bar Marolyn- housekeeping Taj- Asian restaurant Ansley- maintenance Chantelle -spa concierge Anthony Malcolm - Mexican restaurant I know I’m forgetting a whole lot of other staff. The spa was so lovely. Sunset Cove Beach was quiet and serene. Definitely asked for a shuttle to get back to the rooms because it is a walk. The main pool was so huge and there were plenty of lounge chairs. Now about the food. I’m a person that does not cook with salt so I felt all of the food was a little heavy on the salt. Breakfast was never really complete for me. The omelette station had few toppings to choose from : onions, chicken, jalapeño peppers, tomatoes and cheese. I could not believe there was no sweet peppers. I did see mushrooms one day on a guy‘s omelette, but I don’t know where he got them from because when I came there, it was all done. I searched every day. I ate the buffet for lunch and it was good/ typical selections. I only ate in the specialty restaurants for dinner. The wait times once you’re sitting at the table could be over an hour for the meal, but during that time you had access to the salad bar, which was a good distraction from hunger. The entertainment staff put on great shows (Motown and tribute to Bob Marley was my favorites) at 9 PM in the theater every night and then at 10 PM the club opened up until 11. Overall, I would say it was a nice relaxing experience. It’s quieter than most resorts I’ve been to in Jamaica. I didn’t see any pool activities like pool yoga, or foam parties or anything like that, but they did have dance lessons and volleyball off to the side. Be prepared to deal with the spa concierge and travel club/timeshare concierge trying to get you to set up an appointment. It was a bit annoying, especially since I had did it already. But there’s no way of them knowing. About the beach, Most lounge chairs on the beach do not have umbrellas so be sure to bring a hat. Beach service for drinks is almost nonexistent so make sure you get your drinks before you come down to the beach. Last tip would be to be patient with them as they are doing their best after a devastating storm.
