    We love this place!

This place has not once let us down. We have stayed in El Dorado, Royale, Casitas and Generations. So on our second visit, we decided to join the membership. And the third time we decided to upgrade our membership to 25 years. Our preference of room is Beachside Casitas. The picture that I will post with this review I would like to know if someone could tell me what room numbers they are. One is a beach side, Casita in section 27 and the other is beach side, Casita swim up section 28? If someone could give me that information, I would definitely appreciate it. We are traveling next year with family for a wedding renewal.

    Bolsa Mixta

Does "Casitas Royale" translate to "mixed bag?" Because that's what this resort comes off as. While the grounds and facilities are immaculate, the resort is very lacking in other areas: mainly service and room maintenance. We arrived and were directed to a "concierge," who seemed to be perpetually out to lunch. There was always a sign saying "Be back at x time." hanging from the door. After finally connecting with the concierge, we were astonished to learned that there were ZERO restaurant reservations available for dinners. They were definitely trying to send everyone to the buffet, which added to the "cruise ship on land" vibe of the place. After much complaining we managed to land a reservation on the first night, then the second night, etc. But we go on vacation to relax, not have to work hard to manage a simple task. When we did manage reservations, the restaurants were somewhat strange in their starkness and spread out tables. It was almost uncomfortable to eat in them, like you were dining in a meeting room at an Embassy Suites in Orlando. The food was adequate, like a lower budget wedding at the same Embassy Suites. Service was generally pretty speedy, and we did notice that many of the servers would also be working the day shift at other places. So tips were well-noticed, and lead to exceptional service in most cases. Hats off to Alfredo and Alberto, our pool servers for 4 days straight. The guest rooms were adequate, with a comfortable bed. But they were dark, and seemingly very tired and dated. Some light switches were attached to nothing. Water pressure was intermittent, and there was a constant sewer smell coming from the toilet. We didn't try the beaches. They weren't very inviting, and at least in the non "members only" areas, I believe swimming was prohibited. The pools are not heated, so during our stay in early January it was an exhilarating experience to get in the water. If you want to hit a pool, get out there early as other guests stop on their way to breakfast to put towels on chairs and reserve space. We opted for a $200 bed each day, which came with a bottle of champagne, and the above-noted great service from multiple employees. If I were to return to Cancun, I don't think I would consider this property unless it was deeply discounted. It really didn't exude "relaxation" for us.

BEWARE!! Dishonest employees / manager over the Casitas.

I planned a wonderful vacation away with my husband for his 60th birthday. We have been to this property twice. Once in 2023 and again in May of 2025 and had a lovely time, which is why we wanted to return to the Casitas section of the resort, which is more expensive than the Royals or Generations section. We arrived and the bellhops saw the area where we were staying and transported us with our luggage to the check-in area at the Casitas. We arrived with 2 other couples. 1 couple was immediately checked in while we waited with the other couple. After about 20 minutes, one of the girls approached us and advised myself, my husband and the other couple that there were no more Casitas available and that we were being moved to The Generations section where the families with children stay. All of us told them that we specifically paid the higher rate to stay in the Casitas and we were not going to stay in the other area. We have nothing against being around children as we have 4 of our own and 6 grandchildren. However, when we go on vacation we prefer adults only properties. We requested to speak to her manager. He showed up about 15 minutes later and was very rude to us. He told us that there was a maintenance issue in the Casitas and that was why they were out of rooms. Meanwhile, we continued to see other couples arrive and were getting rooms in the Casitas so we questioned him again. Why are we still sitting here while others are getting rooms??? He proceeded to stand his ground that the Casitas have a maintenance issue that is dangerous for us to stay there. We asked if we could move into an available Casita the following day when someone checks out. He said no one is checking out in the next week while we were there. Everyone knows that people check out everyday from a hotel. So we knew he was NOT being honest. We even asked if we could stay in the Royale section and he said no guest were checking out there either. Very strange!! After about an hour of arguing with the manager over the Casitas and a long day of travel, we were hungry and tired. We conceded and just asked for a room key. The message here is even though you pay the upgrade in advance for a Casita you aren’t promised one!!! The next day at the Casitas pool in section 32 we were talking to several couples that were leaving the following day. Proof again that the manager over the Casitas was lying through his teeth to us. It’s disappointing that you pay for a specific area or room and nothing is guaranteed. They told us we had to deal with our travel agency that we booked through for a refund. We just checked out today and while we were waiting for the transportation back to the Cancun airport we were approached by a very nice staff member trying to sell us on paying $299 to put down for our next time we rebook with them. We explained what happened to us and that we would not be returning to this resort EVER. She proceeded to tell us that if you don’t book the rooms directly through the hotel there is no guarantee that you will get the area you prefer to stay in. WTH? If we would have known this in advance it would have been helpful and saved a lot of wasted time at check in. They are doing some shady business here so beware!!!

Subpar resort not worth the little bit of savings from better resorts

We were so excited to try out this resort and left disappointed. The facilities are extremely outdated and unsafe. Literally sections of handrails missing on several staircases replaced with caution tape. First room was flooded twice by air conditioner and had to demand a new room because they felt that it was OK. Tile floors stained, furniture falling apart, mini bar was never restocked, the palms roofs were so tattered and missing sections. Then you go to make dinner reservations. Good luck getting what you want. Half the restaurants are closed every other day because they are under staffed. We couldn't get dinner reservations for 2 of our 6 night stay. We go to the buffets to have to wait because they dont have enough people to bus the tables. This was no most subpar resort we have ever stayed at. The only positive thing we're the workers. They are absolutely amazing, but overworked.
