Couples Negril all inclusive was great from the beginning until our departure, Beautiful place with great views and people, tasty food and so much to do that we didn’t have enough time to cover everything.. Love to come back soon!!
Excellent 5 star adults only resort
We visited this resort in July 2019. We find Jamaica is fairly expensive during the winter peak season (especially from Canada) so the low season in summertime is a good time to go. Weather was very warm (30C+), with usually a daily rainstorm for maybe an hour or so (they do provide an umbrella in the room if you need it). The resort is a solid 5 star hotel, we had few complaints and it ranks well with the many other All Inclusive resorts we have stayed at across the Caribbean and Mexico over the past 25 years. Good things: -location is great, on a nice beach, although note this is not located on the main Negril beach, but on Bloody Bay which is a bit further north - all staff were friendly and helpful at all times, notably had great service from Cavel at the Veggie Bar and Travis at the Terrace buffet restaurant. - all the restaurants were pretty good quality and service – lots of variety, and they all had a number of vegetarian options which is good as this is hard to find at some resorts. They even have a Veggie Bar that prepares veggie salads /wraps, etc. Also the house wine is not bad, again this is better than we have experienced at other resorts where it is sometimes terrible. -evening shows were pretty good – different musical varieties although nothing over the top. The steel drum band (Silver Bells) was notably good. Things to note: -mini bar in room is not stocked before you arrive so make sure you put your order on your door so it gets stocked the next day. I am not sure why they don’t just put some beer / soda in there for your first day… -there isn’t a lot of shade on the beach so if you need / want shade you need to get down early to sit near to one of the big trees (other resorts have the thatched umbrellas to sit under – not so here). Would be nice if the resort could add more shaded areas on the beach (there are umbrellas up by the pool area). All in all a great vacation and we would recommend this resort.

Amazing Vacation - Can't Wait To Return
Already miss Jamaica. My husband and I have traveled to all inclusive resorts in the Maya Rivera for over 10 years and this was our first trip to Jamaica. We researched the best place to stay on the island and found Negril and Bloody Bay/Seven Mile Beach was the most beautiful spot on the island. We wanted an adults only and the decision was down to Couples Negril or Couples Swept Away. Based on what we were looking for in a resort and based on the wonderful Tripadvisor reviews we chose Couples Negril and we are so thankful we did! We took the opportunity Couples gives you to do a free day pass to visit the Couples Swept Away. After visiting Swept Away we were even more convinced we made the right choice with Couples Negril! Couples Negril is a boutique resort, yet has everything you could need in a resort. This makes it that much more special. We have stayed at Grand Palladiums, Iberostar, Bahia Principe and the Valentin resorts in Mexico and this resort beats them all hands down. From the friendly staff, to the phenomenal food, awesome accommodations and pristine beach we cannot wait to return. Now for the best part of the review! The first day we arrived we were early and our room wasn't ready yet so we wandered down to the beach bar and met Taylor and Amay. These ladies go out of their way to make you smile and make sure you are having a great vacation. Taylor made us amazing drinks every time! She is one of the best bartenders we have ever had anywhere on our vacations. She made us shots with care, precision and love 'mon! Later that evening she even asked to make sure we got into our room yet. She remembered our special drinks of rum, soda, a splash of pineapple and lime. She even remembered that I liked less pineapple in my drink than my husbands. Amay's smile and warm welcome always lit you up and made us realized this could be our new home! On our first night we enjoyed the small private pool near the water sports and outside of our building 5 and it might have been a bit later than we should have and we couldn't find any towels (only because it had just rained). But one of the lifeguards, Alex noticed we needed a towel and he offered his own personal towel to us. This was such a nice gesture and that is what you can expect from the entire staff! Jevar, Timoy, Kadesha were other amazing staff we looked forward to seeing everyday that made our stay so amazing! Ask a bartender to make you a "special shot" ! In particular, Kashee at the pool bar has a great shot called the "wet p***". Lindon at the pool bar always handled the pool bar party like a true professional even when we were asking for 15-20 shots at a time he did all with a smile and an occasional joke. Orvelle at the beach bar makes excellent bloody mary's! The food and wait staff were amazing. We had a made to order omelet almost every day and in particular Nickoy made her omelets for us with love. They go out of their way to ask where you are from, about you and make it feel like they are truly hosting you in their own home. We wished we would have taken advantage of more of the included activities. We did the catamaran cruise to the cliffs and totally recommend it! Our room was in building 5; always clean and super functional. It is not a modern hotel but has everything you need and one of the most comfortable beds we have ever slept on. We were so sad to have to leave and we can't wait to return... home! OH and can't forget about our bellman Franklin - so kind and patient with us arriving and going home!
Definitely great, but a few disappointments
We rescheduled our trip to Couples Negril after canceling a trip to the Dominican Republic recently. The hotel and chain had such great reviews so we had high expectations, especially since this resort cost us much more than originally planned. However, we were willing to pay for the upgrade for exceptional experience and service. We have experienced two other all-inclusive resorts prior to this trip, although both were in Mexico. We experienced definite highs and lows on this trip. For starters, the Couples lounge and service from the ariport to the hotel made things enjoyable and easy! The transportation to and from the airport were excellent! The resort was beautiful, clean, and compact, which we liked the proximity and coziness of the resort. The ocean water was warm, clear and the beach was VERY well-groomed and maintained! There was a nice balance of ongoing activities if you want to participate or you can do nothing but sit in the sun (or shade) if you wish. We did basketweaving with Joe, who was very friendly and the nature walk with Donnovan who was also very friendly. The piano bar sing along and karaoke was fun and Paul was a blast! We loved that some fun excursions and activities were included such as catamarans, snorkeling, and scuba. The sunset catamaran cruise was exceptional and our favorite part of the trip! Because of this, we did not feel the need to schedule other extra excursions. This was a nice perk. The cuisine was high quality and was all very good. We especially liked the restaurant Heliconia. One or two more restaurant options would have been nice. Housekeeping was satisfactory. Great pool, but I wish the pool bar was more readily accessible to the whole pool and were craving more poolside music. The entertainment staff was fun, friendly, and outgoing. We had excellent service from Nikidia, Tennyson, Kaylynn, Lindon, and Roshane. However, unfortunately, there were several times when the service definitely lacked throughout our stay. The first two days we were there, the bar and poolside service were unfriendly, to say the least. We were often greeted with apathy and even got a roll of the eyes from a bartender when we asked for a drink our first morning there. Our dishes sat poolside for over four hours after lunch, and I often got up to throw away trash that had been sitting around since the day before. We used our flags to get drinks but they were often ignored or the one time it worked, it took about 20 minutes for a response. The first day of our arrival, we noticed that the outdoor toilets by the veggie bar were clogged and backed up with feces. It smelled slightly of sewage. However, an employee was waiting outside the bathroom so I assumed it would be taken care of. It was still there by noon the next day. I notified the staff and was met with apathy and annoyance. It was eventually taken care of, but at a resort this nice, I should not think that a toilet should be clogged for almost 24 hours nor should we be met with that kind of response. The bed was much too firm for my liking, but others in our party did not mind. Although this is a no-tipping resort and we did not see tipping for the most part. However, I did see a few employees accept tips in the higher-end restaurants. I was not sure what to think of this. I agree that they deserved them, but also wonder if this is why there is such a drastic difference in the levels of service we received. All in all, it was a good trip and service got markedly better after our first two days, although we are not sure why there was such a difference mid-week. We enjoyed ourselves and may visit again, but I am honestly undecided.
