    Far short of expectations. There are much better alternatives in the area

    Horrible, crowed beach in front of the property. Adjacent to public park and crowds of people boarding/disembarking from tour boats. Oversold VIP Exhale club which meant no lounge seats at VIP pool. RIU Palace would be a much better choice.

    Lots of BAD and some GOOD

    Rooms are amazing, upsells are a nightmare, and the beach is packed with. locals, VIP pool is too small and only accommodates a few guests, the chair game is prevalent, the main pool gets minimal sun. No reservations at restaurants, but sometimes a wait of up to 40 minutes happens. Silk is fantastic-went twice, and views are impeccable. I never once was offered a drink, not at VIP pool, not at the beach, EVER-very very frustrating. SPA is very overpriced, so we learned about Nancy's massage right down the street. $60/60 min massage (it was the BEST ever)

    Incredible experience with very few downsides.

    We did the xhale upgrade the room was amazing, beautiful view overlooking the ocean. We could see fireworks from the bathtub on our balcony each night and hear and see all of the entertainment happening below our room when we were ready for a bit of solitude but not quite ready to sleep. With the upgrade we had a smooth check in experience. We arrived at night on a Friday and seemed to be one of very few checking in at that time. We were offered a coctail while we checked in and our bags were brought to our room for us. A full detailed description of the room and ameneties was given by the person who brought up our bags. We loved the variety of restaurants. I did request salt at every meal because some items were a bit bland but nothing a little salt couldn't help. There is no need for reservations, in fact in our 7 days at brethless we only waited for a table one time and it was around 45 mins so w just had a drink while we waited no big deal. Our hotel was very close to the bus stop and we also had no trouble getting uber rides to and from whenever we left the resort. The staff was incredibly friendly, I did not encounter even one member of staff who seemed put out by or disinterested in us. Our room did have an odd smell, we didn't mind it enough to make a problem over it and the room itself was very clean the whole time we were there. I loved that I could request different things in the mini bar and that there is 24 hour room service. If you do utilize room service just be sure to order very well in advance of when you want it as it did take quite awhile to arrive. You can request the food be left in the little vault in your room which I loved as well. I found the mixers in the drinks to be a bit watery in taste as if from concentrate perhaps but the alcohol itself did not ever taste or seem watered down to me. Theres a huge variety of drinks available. I didn't appreciate the "vip" time share sales peoples insistence upon speaking to us but a firm no thank you was plenty to end that and we were not ever approached again. Before we left I saw some reviews that were unhappy that the beach was a public beach, we didn't have any issue with that. For us it was no big deal. The beach itself was very shallow but was great for splashing and cooling off. We spent most of our time at the various pools. Mainly the energy pool where all of the music and excitement were. There was dancers and shows each day at the energy pool. The resort has a night club on site we didn't stay there long. It was very very small, and be aware of the dance floor as it sits well above floor level so I noted many people tripping over it. Within about a 5 minute drive there is a ton of nightlife and other resturaunts if you want to get away and experience more as well. We really loved the whole experience.

    Rooftop party pool

    Rooftop party pool was a blast. Hector and Frankie took great care of us and made sure we had everything we could need or want at our cabana. Leo, our server, made sure we always had a cold drink in our hand, and even found me some sunscreen when I ran out on the last day. Truly a great group of people up there. Great food too. Only downside would be limited free seating-to many rentable seats instead of allowing first come and pool was quite chilly

    Overall Experience

    Overall it was a great trip, the only complant would be the "salesmen", they are very agressive, we didn't want to do any tours or want any offers, as we went soley to relax.
