Colonial lobby bar- Denaly
Me and my families experience at the Barcelo Maya Colonial lobby bar was fantastic. We returned many times to this lobby bar from the Maya Palace resort. We found this bar much more friendly and accomadating than the Palace bar. The reason for our continuous return to the Colonial lobby bar in the evening was the bartender Denaly! Denaly was very professional, kind, very friendly, amazing with my 8yr old son (even made him special fancy kids drinks) and always remembered our regular orders! She is an round lovely person to know. By the time we left the resort, we felt she was more than a staff member, she became our friend. We were all very sad to say goodbye to her! The Barcelo is very very lucky to have found such an amazing staff member as they have with Denaly. 😊 She is a diamond 💎 and very rare and valuable! We hope when we return we will see her again. Nov 05, 2025Disappointed by my first experience at Barcelo Hotel.
I was excited to visit this All-inclusive Hotel but I got disappointed. First, the food at the buffets looks good but lacks flavor plus it is the same every day. The desserts, how can even be possible, they were all bad, no flavor whatsoever. Drinks, well, they were water down. Now the service by the room cleaning people needs to improve, I heard so many times the expression 'sorry, we can not do that". Exemple: I needed to exchange cans of soft drinks for mineral water, but no, "sorry, we can not do that". Now, tv was so old, the screen even had lines, the bathroom makeup mirror broken, iron broken, patio door in disrepair, everything old! Oh front desk did not tell us when we checked in that we needed to make reservations for dinning at the different restaurants, when we wanted to do it all was booked and we were not able to enjoy that. I had to ask a second person when I checked in to help me make a change in my reservation because the first person said, you guessed it! "sorry, we can not do that!"

Our Home away from Home!
Look no further this resort has everything you need. If you like to stay on the resort you will be extremely happy here. Yes there's a cost for some of this extra amenities but with no travelling how can you go wrong. Service and Food are excellent. Our family has visited this resort 18 times and we have no interest going anywhere else. Tip- but a few dollars on the table when you sit down to eat , they will go above and beyond. Your trip is only as good as you make it.

The only complaint I have is that there is no air vent/fan in the bathroom and you’ll need to shower with a bathroom open to minimize the evaporation from shower and having all your stuff wet this includes the floor and the walls, the walls, floor and the ceiling were covered with water and
