    We Love Barcelo Ixtapa

My wife and I had a wonderful time food was great and service was excellent. Special thanks to Eduardo Porfirio for the awesome drinks! Ezequiel Martinez best waiter who served me! Lucio Contreras treated me great! Hermelindo Mata and Guadaloupe were also excellent in taking care of us! Lizeth Hernandez had the most wonderful smile and made us feel special everytime we needed a table...When people like this treat you so nicely greet you and call you by your first name, come shake your hand stuff like that is unforgettable!!! Vladamir at the front desk and Luis another of my favorite bartenders did the usual magic in taking care of us. SEE YOU AGAIN NEXT YEAR CAN'T WAIT1

    Disappointed

We just returned from a week at the ixtapa barcelo. We've been to this chain of hotels and other all-inclusive in other areas and generally had a very good experience. This is not a resort however that I would be making any effort to return to. We paid for the upgrade to the premier lounge and for the money that you spent you got very little in return. The premier lounge rarely had somebody in there to assist you and when there was somebody there it seemed rather inconvenient for them to help you. The food that was in the lounge was very minimal and often cold and we ended up going to the buffet most days. The room that we ended up staying in did not have a balcony rather just a window that opened which was disappointing. We found the food at this resort to be rather bland with limited variety on most days. We were very happy to be of checking out and leaving this resort and won't be making an effort to return.

Overall this resort is a great place to have a vacation. Great service and very freindly. Love the a la carte restaurants. We have stayed in a lot of the Barcelo resorts and have enjoyed them all . The Barcelo Ixtapa has by far the best walking beach.

    All inclusive Motel 6

I stated the Barcelo for four nights which should’ve been less because I tried to leave based on the lack of clarity and how the hotel promoted itself. I was encouraged to go there by locals who I was doing a project with, but they had never stayed there so I was the guinea pig and when I had explained that I didn’t feel the value was there for the amount that I paid very expensive, roughly triple of the other properties on the same beach I asked to leave early and they refused to allow me to leave with any refunds for days that I have not stayed so I was held hostage to stay without a refund. I went to the staff multiple times to see if there could be resolution they did change my room which improved a little bit, but certainly did not meet quality or standards for the price that I paid. The food is largely inedible. I will never return so Barcelo got their small Fortune for four nights, but never again

Friendly Service and Clean Facilities, but Infrastructure and Operational Improvements Needed

I recently stayed at the Barceló Ixtapa and had a notably mixed experience. While the staff is exceptionally friendly and the facilities are kept very clean, there are several operational and structural areas that require attention. Atmosphere: The resort has a generally relaxed but lively atmosphere. The pool music and activities provide a good energy for those looking to stay active during the day. Maintenance & Communication: We experienced issues with the Wi-Fi and the toilet early in our stay. Despite reporting these to both Reception and the Premium Level lounge, they were not addressed for 48 hours. The issues were only resolved after I responded to a management follow-up email, suggesting a need for better communication between departments. Resource Scarcity (Beach Shade): There is a significant lack of shade at the beach, requiring guests to wake up as early as 5:00 AM to secure a spot. Furthermore, there is a lack of oversight regarding beach etiquette; we observed instances where personal items were moved by others to take over shaded areas without management intervention. Acoustics & Noise: Due to the architectural layout, noise from the ground-floor restaurant seeps into the rooms through the front doors. At night, music from events can be heard quite clearly. While this was manageable on the 10th floor, it may be a significant concern for those on lower floors. Infrastructure: The building and rooms feel outdated. The elevators were inconsistent, occasionally failing to open doors upon arrival or not responding when called, which felt like a safety concern. Value Proposition: The Premium Level upgrade did not significantly improve the room experience. The rooms are identical to the standard ones. Weekend Capacity: During the weekend, the resort struggled with the high volume of guests. We experienced long lines for the restaurants, and the food quality—including at the themed restaurants—was inconsistent. Overall Verdict: A mediocre experience. The hard-working staff is the resort's best asset, but the physical property and guest management systems need modernization.
