My voucher pricing was not honored and I was forced to pay a different rate or go to another hotel. The My Barcelo website made the error, not me. So should have been honored as it was their mistake without any prior correction notice. Manager was to rectify situation but after 11 days I left with nothing.

We had the premium level rooms. I would highly recommend this. The drinks are better, there is a private lounge and you get unlimited reservations at the à la carte. As they have only 3 à la cartes it is nice to have this perk. .

A very nice resort on a beautiful beach with lots of amenities
I’ve been to a number of Mexican resorts over the years and am a timeshare owner in a few of them so I have a lot to compare this one to. I give the Barcelo Huatulco top marks for cleanliness, quality of the beach and pools, investment in entertainment, and variety of resort amenities. Overall, service was efficient but due to the language barrier, some requests were not well understood and servers were not conversant with us. The rooms have colourful decor and are spacious, and we had a wonderful view. I didn’t like the beds or pillows. Although there is a rule against reserving lounges, everyone does it and all of the shaded ones are gone by 7 am most days. My biggest complaint was with the lunch and dinner buffet. I am not very adventurous with food so would’ve liked more Canadian/American choices. It was heavily weighted towards Mexican food. Even the hamburgers were not good. The specialty restaurants were all good though. I’d recommend this hotel for families and couples wanting a Mexican resort experience at a reasonable price, but would highly recommend paying the extra money for “Premium” level which gets you quite a few extra perks such as premium liquor, more availability at the specialty restaurants, special lounge area and late check out.

Food was always cold in buffets.Service was not that great at any restaurant.I would not return to this hotel.The shows were very good.
