My wife and I are staying at Qunita Real, just down the beach from the Barcelo. We were walking the beach and decided to try the Barcelo for some cocktails/appetizers. Man in hotel uniform took a look at our skin (white), and asked if we were staying at Dreams (down the opposite side of the beach). Interestingly, yesterday a different hotel employee invited us in. We're also looking for a place to take our two daughters and their families on a future trip to Huatulco. Yesterday we thought Barcelo looked elegant and fun with families in the pool area and an awesome looking bar. This evening we think we'll look for a place where caucasians are more welcome (Dreams?).
Our second trip
This was our second trip to Barcelo (first week of April) loved everything about it. The service, location, food and the people who we met mostly from Canada. We ended up moving twice only because at our age we did not like being near the Disco this time even though we paid more for an Oceanview. The second was a wild party which went all night till 7 a.m. so we did not appreciate going without sleep for 2 night. Thanks to Carlo Lopez and his helper at front desk who handled it very well and professional. After that they were always there for anything we needed. Our last 4 nights we were spent in a Premium room on the 6th floor. We returned a week later for one night after traveling to Oaxaca City over the mountains, while there the front desk took care of our luggage we could not take with us. Hope to return next year.
Very good hotel
My Stay there esa very good. I really recoment this hotel. The alcohol quality Was very good. I was sorprise with the quality of the restaurant the italian one. Was the best. I really enjoy. The shawer poblably the best i ever see in a hotel
We checked in April 19, 2019. We have tried multiple all inclusives, so we decided to give Barcelo a try. Let me start by saying why I give it two stars. Great location, the beach is super clean, safe, and the weather is perfect, not too hot or too humid. Now all the disappointing aspects: the food is below average, for example, same daily food with appearance of being reheated, flavorless, and rancid taste. Dishes are not cleaned properly. I observed them washing the plastic drinking cups by simply dipping them in water once and on to serving a drink to the next person and passing germs around, 4/5 of us have been sick. The alcohol and everything is very poor quality and not what you would expect for what you pay Finally, and worst of all is the loud music in the cantina which goes on until 2:00 AM, good luck trying to get some sleep. The cantina is centrally located in the middle of the buildings where the rooms are. We called to complain multiple times, but nothing was done. We paid $5000 for 3 adults 2 children for 1 week, and we feel absolutely disappointed. On our last day, we ended up walking to Dreams and spent a lovely day there. Do not let the excellent reviews fool you.
Exceeded our Expectations.
We just got back from a wonderful family vacation at the Barcelo Huatulco. ( April 16-23) The entire stay was wonderful and exceeded our expectations. The view from our Premium Level room was fantastic. Unobstructed oceanfront view from our large balcony with seating area and hammock. The service was excellent from the moment we stepped onto the property. Mario, ( the lifeguard) was great and always watching guests on the beach or the pool. He was friendly and nice to talk to and get to know. Fernando kept our drinks coming by the pool and always made sure our kids had cold slushy drinks as well. The buffets offered lots of variety and the Italian restaurant was a nice treat for our last night. Our girls loved the self-serve ice-cream cones... maybe a little too much ;) The weather was perfection! Hot everyday with a perfect ocean breeze. We arrived at high tide with a full moon, so the first 3 days were rough ocean not suitable for the kids. The pool was great fun and safe for the kids so there were no complaints from anyone. Once the ocean settled everyone had fun playing in the crashing waves. The vendors on the beach were kind and easy to deal with. They sold great goods at fair prices and would move on if you said no thank you. I was more than happy to buy goods from these wonderful people and support the locals as much as possible. If you want to buy jewelry look for Sergio ( George of the Jungle) He is such a lovely man and speaks at least 4 languages fluently! Amazing! This was a family vacation we will never forget and we are so thankful to the beautiful people of Huatulco for making it so. I have never written a review before, but I just want everyone to know how special this part of the world is and if you on the fence about going.. trust me, you will love it! Safe, sunny, friendly, clean, relaxing and family orientated. What else could you ask for!?
