We enjoyed our stay last week at Barcelo. The food in each of the restaurants was fine although not spectacular. It would have been nice to have some food outside the pool area so that you do not have to go back to your room and change clothes just to eat. We were disappointed to find out when we arrived that there was no "mini bar" as advertised but instead a small refrigerator that had a few beers, soft drinks and water. I would suggest you advertise what it really is. I had to go down to the gift shop and buy small bottles of wine to place inside the fridge myself. We were also disappointed with the "Free Wifi" advertisement...it's not free if you need to have it disposable to you for more than an hour a day. Someone needs to check the kegs in the main lobby bar and pool bar. I personally have never seen so much beer being wasted trying to fill a glass..especially in the main lobby bar. I have no idea how much profit is going down the drain but I would assume it's in the thousands of dollars. We arrived last Sunday 8-4 and the kegs issues were never fixed through our departure on Friday 8-9. I even spoke with the bartender and told him the keg needs to be fixed. The staff was very friendly and the rooms were kept clean. The Security Staff should be allowed to wear shorts and short sleeve shirts as they were hot standing outside.
Not so all-inclusive
When you say "all-inclusive," you expect basic things like WiFi to be included...not to be a "pay-for" add-on. On top of that, the food is horrible and the same stuff over and over again. Only variety is to try and fight for a limited dinner spot at the 4 "specialty" restaurants. If I were to do this again, I would have stayed at the Hilton next door, probably. Or somewhere else. Not worth it for the price.
Nice but not great family vacation
My family was traveling to celebrate a few birthdays and anniversaries. There were 14 of us in total. The staff... especially Nathalia in guest relations, tried very hard to do the best they could for us. When we checked in, we were given all double beds instead of the kings we requested. We realized the reservationist on the phone changed our room category without telling us all because my brother needed to leave 1 day early. Not sure why we had to change the other 4 rooms, but that's what they told me we needed to do. After making an issue of it and showing them the initial reservation, they changed three of the rooms to kings. As other people have said, you need to get up between 5:30 - 6 am to get chairs on the beach or at the pool with any sort of shade. It wasnt a problem for me because i am up early, but other people were really upset. As far as the food, the breakfast buffet was great... and the service was excellent. However, the lunch buffet never seemed to be replenished and the dinner buffet was just not good at all. The sit down restaurants were better. The Italian place was great, however, they tried to give us a partial menu and not the full menu because we were 12 people.... really? It's all inclusive, what's the difference. However, as soon as i said something they did bring the regular menu. The Hibatchi restaurant was very good... and the seafodd restaurant was ok. There is a big issue at the pool with towels... you need to give them a card, and you are alloted just one towel with that card. I know they have their reasons... but this just seemed to be WAY over the top. The beach is absolutely beautiful and the water is pristine. Overall it was a very nice time together... however, i don't think i would return to this location.
First Time Aruba First Time Barceló
Loved our first time trip to Aruba. The Barceló All Inclusive was a great deal. Loved the beach & water. Loved our ocean & pool view room. Bed was super comfy. Tub had a huge step to get in that we were afraid we might slip but asking around it seems like the bathrooms varied. We opted for the Royal Level so we got free WiFi, free mini bar, free room service, our own concierge, our own beach bar, our own Restaurant, access to premium alcohol, preference for dinner reservations, and we were able to make dinner reservations over the phone. Buffet food was pretty typical and we preferred the Palm over the Beach Club. Dinner restaurants - Arabian seafood (the buffet is better), Mexican (my mom liked it but prefers what we get in Texas), Italian (Andres our server was excellent, the Land & Sea risotto was delicious, the seafood linguine was good), Kyoto (hibachi grill - absolutely my favorite, regular side - the spring rolls & beef appetizers were good and both shrimp dinners were good), and Royal Lounge (dinner better than lunch, they made my seafood linguine with just shrimp & scallops which was delicious). Tips: no adapters needed for electrical plugs if you’re traveling from US (the hairdryer provided by the hotel was actually really good), bring an insulated cup (yeti or RTIC) for your drinks as they will fill them up and you won’t have to go back to the bar so much, get up at 5:30AM give or take 30 minutes if you want a covered tiki hut on the beach (stupid first come first serve) but possibly a little later if you want a poolside seat (if you’re up at 10AM may the force be with you in your hunt), and bring cash/money for tipping for when you receive (or want) exceptional service (base gratuity is included). The hotel is located on the beach and across the way on the other side of the street are several shopping places and restaurants. On the beach side there is also a side walk that is perfect for walks and it connects to several of the other hotels on Palm beach. Really was a overall great experience! Looking forward to coming back. PS Allow for two hours (min) during low season to get through all the security when flying back home. Allow for longer during high season.
not too much variety of food and the food it was very salty, also quality of the food was average and the resort was on small side they don't have beach volley ball and not too much activity throughout the day
