Nice holiday
Hotel definitely not 5* the rooms are very tired and in need of refurbishing. The room smelt damp and musty very cold. The room was cleaned daily and I cannot fault the housekeeping. The food was really good and something for everybody, my only complaint being the food was not always hot enough. The staff in this hotel are definitely 5* and are so helpful and pleasant in every area. My other concern was in the Cenote restaurant, please put the ice cream cones in a machine so people don’t have to handle them, I watched people come straight out of the toilet and handle them (just an observation) which put me off having the delicious ice cream. Sometimes getting the trolly to the other hotels was a bit chaotic. All in all we had a good holiday but I will put that down to the wonderful staff who are definitely 5* and go the extra mile in everything they do.

Wonderful, Relaxed and Chilled
My husband and I stayed in the Sian Ka'an part of the Bahia Principe group at Quinata Roo for 2 weeks at the end of November through to the beginning of December 2025, having stayed at the Akumal and Coba parts many times over the previous 10 years. We absolutely loved it. As we are black bands with the Bahia rewards scheme we have previously eaten in the two a la carte restaurants many times and have spent days chilling out at the pools whilst staying at the other parts, so this was our first time actually staying there. We paid extra for a superior room, which are on the middle floor of the villas, and were assigned room 40713 which was a quick walk to the lobby and the pools. Shout out to the housekeeping team who looked after us. Our room was kept impeccable throughout our 2 week stay and the towel art they treated us to really made our stay feel even more precious. Thank you. We treated ourselves to a room service breakfast a couple of times which was very quick to arrive. Food at the 24 hour Cenote snack bar by the middle pool was excellent. It is cooked to order. The buffet is smaller than at the other parts of the resort because Sian Ka'an is smaller, yet there was always plenty of choice encompassing all tastes for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The gorgeous crispy bacon the resort provides at breakfast often runs out at the other parts of the resort as it is always in high demand, but not at Sian Ka'an. It was always plentiful. All the a la carte restaurants are outstanding. Shout out to Florencio and Eric at Katok steak restaurant on the Akumal site and Daniel the manager of the Sian Ka'an buffet and Eglady - my husband is missing your hugs and lovely smile. True heroes. As always, all the staff were wonderful; always happy, cheerful, polite and just wonderful. The vibe at Sian Ka'an is chilled and relaxed. We used the trolleys to visit the Akumal and Tulum parts of the resort. Each individual resort within the complex have their own vibes. We have booked to return for 2 weeks at the beginning of May 2026 and look forward to being there again. As a note of reference, 'luxury' in the title differentiates it from the 'grand' meaning it gives you access to all the parts of the resort, you have dressing gowns and slippers in your room, you can eat at a la carte restaurants across the whole complex, you can use the pools and beach at the other parts of the resort, you have access to room service 24/7 and you sometimes get 3 alcohol miniatures in your minibar, none of which in the 'grand' resorts at this resort. It is nothing to do with the decor. I have read previous reviews where people have assumed 'luxury' meant superior plush decor. It doesn't. It is to differentiate access to services and facilities

Outstanding!
Bahia Principe Sian Ka’an ~Trip Date: January 19-27, 2026 ~Tour Operator: Westjet Vacations /Nexus ~Room: Junior Suite 41424 (4 – Sian Ka’an/14 – Building #/ 24 - Room # (opposite the activity pool entrance) ~Weather: 25C – 30C (fabulous) We just returned from a fabulous 9-day trip to Sian Ka’an. We are repeat visitors to Bahia Principe resorts (Akumal/El Portillo Samana/Luxury Samana/Cayo Leventado Samana). Upon arrival there is no Entry Visa required (for Canadians). Note: We paid the VISITAX before departure (link provided by Westjet), saved and printed the QR code (no one asked for proof upon departure). We paid the environmental tax at Sian Ka’an upon check-in ($36). For those who haven’t been to Cancun airport for awhile, or your first visit: Deplane, then go down escalator and line up to go through customs (have passport ready). Pick up luggage from carousal (if checked bag), then proceed through to outside and if going to Akumal/Tulum – meet the WJ/Nexus guys orange desk/clothing to check in and go wait at last orange flag #6 Akumal/Tulum. They will call out your name for the shared transfer (4 couples/3 stops/2.5 hours). Note: book private transfer (Westjet $70) and carry on only (some people on our plane reported stolen items (designer sunglasses, perfume etc.) from checked bags (took 1 hour to get luggage onto the carousel). Do not place valuables in checked luggage. We used suitcase straps & zip ties on checked bag – so no problems. We booked the Jr. Suite and requested higher floor through the email address: info.siankaan@bahia-principe.com We checked in on the Bahia Principe App exactly 10 days prior to arrival. We found we were booked into 5 of 8 allowed a la cartes. I changed a few and added another. We always do buffet our first night, and chose the Seafood Gala buffet on Friday night. *Due to unavailability we were unable to book Alux or the Japanese at Sian Ka’an. Met a lot of frustrated people who could not get into any a la cartes because they did not know to check in on the BP App 10 days prior to arrival. However, with My Bahia Principe becoming World of Hyatt on March 24th 2026 – not sure how this will all work. Our room was on the top floor of building 14 near the activity pool. We requested a mattress topper and extra pillows through the concierge, which were provided. This entry-level room had hot water, daily-restocked fridge, and faced the activity pool (afternoon music/volleyball & games can be heard) if you’re in the room. Loved this location due to the amenities & morning visits of the beautiful blue tropical birds to our balcony railing, and trees outside our room. Note: there are 40 stairs up and 40 down each time you left this room! We spent our days at the beaches of Sian Ka’an (chair service), Akumal (chair service/infinity pool) & Tulum (Congrejo beach & quiet pool). When at Sian Ka’an section – we would walk to the left near the El Mar beach bar and swim in the shallow cove. When at Akumal section, the cove was inundated with seaweed – so swam in the infinity pool. When at Tulum we swam at the beautiful sandy bottom Cangrejo beach and on rough water days we swam in the quiet Cangrejo pool. To get to the Cangrejo beach we took the tram to the Tulum lobby (purple line), then asked the Tulum tramline guys to take us to the quiet pool/beach – path on left when facing lobby. Never a problem – sometimes a few minutes until they were available. We always walked back to the Tulum lobby for the return to Sian Ka’an. Note: closest food option for this area is the Yucatan Tulum buffet – short walk. Seaweed was starting to rear its ugly head, but the workers at all beaches worked diligently to clear it. I found 2 beautiful heart-shaped sea beans at the Tulum Cangrejo beach during my beach walks. Trams: we liked the tram system. We never waited long and sometimes not at all for a ride to anywhere we were going. Red line (red placard in windshield) will get you back to Sian Ka’an, Akumal Lobby, Akumal Infinity pool, Sian Ka’an beach. Purple line gets you to Tulum, Hacienda/marketplace etc. Very easy to navigate and use. Just tell the drivers where you want to go, if it’s not them, they radio ahead to let the other drivers know you’re waiting. Very efficient system & friendly drivers made our mini excursions around the BP resorts easy & seamless. Restaurants: Buffets: Yal-ku (Sian Ka’an – thank you to Eglaydy/Salomon/Juanita & Daniel for the excellent service), Yum Buffet (Akumal), Cozumel Buffet (Tequila) Yucatan Buffet (Tulum). Theme nights at Sian Ka’an: Monday: Italian/Tuesday: Asian/ Wed: Spanish/ Thurs: French/Friday: Seafood Gala/ Saturday: Mexican/Sunday: American A la Cartes: All a la cartes were phenomenal – stand outs for us were Le Gourmet (thank you Teodormio), Dolce Vita (thank you Diego) and Don Pablo (thank you Jose). Smoked (thank you Carlos) and Katok (thank you Eric) we enjoyed as well. *Six reservations made prior to arrival: Don Pablo x 2 (Tulum)/ Katok Steakhouse (Akumal)/ Dolce Vita (Akumal) / Smoked (Tequila) /Le Gourmet (Coba) The weather, beaches, food, drinks pools and staff were all outstanding!
