This was my third time staying at BP GT, and it was a good experience. Expectations are key. This is not a 5-star resort, despite being posted that way in places. And the price point reflects that. They have cut a few corners over the years but have managed to keep price increases low. What it has: -clean -feels safe and secure -located on a long stretch of sandy beach, with some shallow and sandy entry points, and a protected area behind a breakwater -crews cleaning seaweed off the beach -family oriented, not a party vibe -large and self-contained, it's big enough to provide variety if you don't want to leave the resort, and big enough to find a place that is quieter or less crowded -lots of entertainment and activities -beautiful grounds -decent a la carte restaurants -buffet is good enough for a week's stay -awesome staff -the premium superior rooms are nice Drawbacks -other guests -some people complain about the food and drinks - if you're a foodie you probably will be disappointed -designated smoking areas close to eating and drinking locations such as the lobby bar -lots of facilities, services, rules, and information, but not well communicated - the staff are helpful - ask lots of questions -some aspects are not well-maintained - if you want everything to look new and perfect then this is not for you

Check-in is a disaster. They changed my room 3 times. You can't make reservations at the restaurants. You have to eat the same food at the buffet breakfast, lunch, and dinner. You need to pay for the shows. I never expected the poor quality.

Jan 22, 2026Problems with the wild animals
Friend and us went to Grand Tulum on Jan 13-20 the resort is very clean and chairs were easily available any time of the day ,they had plenty of fresh towels by the pool.Staff at the restaurants were friendly and helpful the only real issue we had at this resort that would keep us from going back is the Coatis they are raccoon like animals that are everywhere they are aggressive and run around the restaurants .We had a friend we were travelling with get peed on from above at the buffet restaurant ,and the next day during breakfast my wife and I saw one crawling around above us and pooped ,which fell next to our table, we left right away disgusted wondering if that ever falls into the food at the buffet .We won't go back to this resort because of this problem.

Another wonderful booking
Our 2nd time visiting, it again was a great time, food selection is great, all staff are wonderful, drinks are excellent. Loved the restaurants. Only complaint is bedside power outlets are very loose and don't hold the adapter tight to facilitate a charge. Otherwise wonderful trip

Bad customer service
This would be my 4th vacation at this resort. But this time, before even going to the hotel, I could not complete the online check-in to be able to make restaurant reservations. From other reviews, I understand that dinners are overbooked and by the time you are at the hotel it is impossible to find available reservation times. I called customer service, and they could not help me either using the website or the MyBahia application, and when I asked to speak to a supervisor or manager, they simply said 'bye' and hung up.
