A Surprise Wedding to Die For!!
Aleah W,

This review will do no justice to how great this resort was. My husband worked with Shelly-Kelly to plan a surprise 10 year anniversary renewal of vows wedding and it was magnificent. As I was the one surprised I don't have all the details. However from what I do know, Shelly-Kelly corresponded with him for at least a year to make sure every detail was perfect. All of the staff were alerted not to spill the beans and I never heard one peep. Even when I was in the spa getting my massage by Rosemarie, who was amazing, I wasn't told a thing. Rosemarie was firm with her hands but gentle not to be too forceful. I also got my hair and makeup done and it was so lovely! Not to gaudy and hair perfect for a wedding. Grace and Javaughn were two employees we saw numerous times around the resort and they remembered our names and always spoke to us! Shevelle and another gentleman would always be the ones to bring our room service and Shevelle was so sweet, she always included my daughter when greeting us and had a smile on her face. The gentlemen was cool he would bring our food on the tray on his head!! Which my daughter thought was so cool! The activity team were great also! Lashana, Owana, Romario, and Sabrina were always in great spirits, invited us to do sports and activities and take pictures with my daughter. Stanley was also very friendly and would interact with my daughter and family as well! I wish I could have gotten everyone's name because they were all so welcoming. We loved the water park area, it was perfect for toddlers and for adults! The resort was always clean and free of debris. The food at all the restaurants were great! We mostly ate at the buffet but did visit the Italian and Asian restaurant as well as the restaurant on the Cove side and the beachside restaurant near the lobby. My daughter and I played put put golf and she had a blast. The shows were pretty amazing also. We caught the Grease show, the circus, and the band shows. I would definitely visit this resort again! If you're planning a special event or just going with family and/or friends you won't be disappointed with spending your money to go here. Can't wait to go back!!

All in all, you get what you pay for. We booked this because it was a very reasonable deal. I wouldn't say it's a 4* resort, but I think it could be with some minor changes / updates / better management. The Staff: Most of the staff was very nice, but some were rude for an all inclusive. It was like we were bothering them sometimes. At other all inclusive resorts I've been to, the staff was happy that we were there. Here, it seemed like we were an annoyance to about 25% of them. The Bars: They ran out of different items and didn't seem to follow recipes. Drinks were never the same. They should have been stocked better. many times we were told that they couldn't make a drink because they ran out of something. The Grounds: The resort is older but it's maintained for the most part. It could use some updating but most of it was very nice. The mini golf course and and old trampoline frame should probably be remove and a nice garden or something else installed. There was a large old concrete patio in front of it that seemed like wasted space. There was a lot of trash out on the rocks in front of the resort - bottles, cups, and even a refrigerator door. It was there all week and that could easily have been cleaned up. But most everywhere else was continuously cleaned and maintained. The Restaurants: The food was OK - but nothing was great. Each had an adequate selection. Be prepared to wait. We would typically put our name on the list and then go to the buffet for our appetizer or a bar to get a few drinks while we waited. We were told an hour wait at one restaurant that was half full. When I asked why, I was told, "We have a list." Breakfast buffet was good, but the selection of foods did not change. The Room: The room was a typical hotel room that you'd find at a Holiday Inn Express or similar except with a much better view. The fridge was just a college style mini fridge shoved in the corner of the room. The bed was very hard as mentioned in previous reviews. The Spa/Gym: The spa was excellent. My wife and I had a couple massage and it was outstanding. The gym was also very nice. It had newer equipment, was clean, and well maintained. Kids Areas: I didn't bring my kids on this trip, but I can see that the slides, pirate ship, lazy river, etc... would be heaven for a kid 3 - 12. I can see this being a good, very reasonable priced vacation spot for a family. Overall, it doesn't compare to some of the other 4.5* or even 4* places I have stayed in other places like the Dominican Republic or Mexico. However, for the price, it was a very nice get away. Would I come back here, probably not.

An inexpensive all-inclusive with no bells and whistles

This was my first all-inclusive resort vacation, so here goes... The lobby is all open and very welcoming when you check-in. My complaint at check-in is that they don't have enough staff working the check-in at peak times. We must have taken nearly an hour to check-in. That's the last thing you want when you travel half a day to get to the resort. My recommendation here is to try and get a drink from the bar before waiting in line to check-in. Beyond the lobby the main areas of the resort just feel like they need updating. For example, the ceiling of the big open area in the lobby and walkway to the pools and restaurants has the clear plastic panels, some of which are missing. This is really unsightly for what I thought was a classier resort. The buffet food is nothing special. They occasionally have tasty local favorites - Ox Tail for example, was one of my favorites. Don't expect gourmet food especially from the buffet. If you are looking for food options 24hours, don't expect the buffet or the island grill to be open after 9pm. They only have a 24-hour cafe that serves finger foods. Their restaurants are nothing to write home about either. Expect to wait in line as they don't take reservations. They have three restaurants that are open to all guests not including the buffet. Most nights one is usually closed, due to them being understaffed. The best restaurant is probably the Italian restaurant. They have options for adults and kids to satisfy the pickiest of eaters. I would not recommend the seaside grill. As they don't have a dedicated kitchen, the food is likely prepped way before then brought to the outdoor restaurant. This is evident in the food when served. I had the pork chops which were very dry and was a rather small portion. If you plan on doing excursions make sure you budget ahead of time. I wasn't aware of the exorbitant prices even for a resort-related excursion and would have cost my family of 3 about $300 to go on the 1-2 hour catamaran ride. Also if you want to go anywhere on the island taxis are ridiculous too. Expect to pay $50 or more each way to go anywhere good. Just wish uber or lyft were available... There are some decent things about the resort. The view on the beaches was beautiful. Their bartenders aren't stingy with their pours, which for me was good. For the most part the service of the resort was good. The staff tries to make your stay an enjoyable one. The rooms are actually pretty nice. I do like their complimentary fridge stock (water, beer, soda). Its a good thing to have if you plan on doing a beach day or venturing outside of the resort. The waterpark area is good if you have children. As an FYI, make sure you are watching your children in the water on the beach or pool since we saw the lifeguards not really watching the water frequently. My son was afraid to go down the big slide and we finally managed to talk him into it our last day there. In conclusion, on a budget its an OK resort. If you go and expect great food and lots to do on the resort you will be disappointed. However, for a relaxing vacation its a reasonable value.

Should be a 5-Star

Absolutely incredible. The food, the staff, the drinks, the pools, the whole experience was simply superb. The only two (2) complaints I would have are these: 1) Not much to see around the resort (if you get out). The closest gift shop is a 45 min walk. 2) There are rocks on the beach as you get into the water. A few tips for shoppers: - Don't go to the Hip Strip with the US$40 taxi ride offered by the hotel. - If you walk out of the hotel, there are taxis and you can negotiate your price much cheaper. - Don't buy liquor anywhere else than the duty free shop at the airport - it is cheaper at the airport The safe is a keypad safe with your own code, not a keycard safe, so it's much safer. The rooms have a mini-bar with free soft drinks, water and beer.
