So many wrong things :( my birthday stay and didn't enjoy.

They need to do a lot of work on this hotel it's so crazy... The first night we arrived and was checking in, they were telling me that I had to pay. When the money was already deducted from my account. And even an extra for international processing fee.. I had to log in to my bank account to show the transaction. I can't take the fact away that we good a good view room and they put a happy birthday banner on my room Door..the bellyman was really helpful.. When we got to the buffet we were so disappointed. There was no food, and this was about after 8pm. I had to have fruits for dinner .. Little to no variety. Very disappointing. We went to get towels sp we could go to pool. Only to be surprised by the young lady telling us that we had to sign for towels. And if we don't return them then we have to pay 25us each for the towels. That was not good... The bathroom has shower gel and shampoo in a container that you pump in your hand that they place in bathroom.. And it was the same thing they had in the public restrooms. (not nice) no little bottles of shampoo or body wash or such. On the second day we had breakfast that was good. I can say i enjoyed all the meals there that i had.. Ann Marie our housekeeper was good and very friendly. The ladies at the biggest during breakfast and lunch was also very good. Shanique was her name I think. She was always checking on us to ensure that we were doing well. This hotel needs a lot of upgrades. I don't know if I'll ever visit again... As said earlier. Good was good for the 3 nights 4 days we were there...

Vacation of a lifetime!

Took the whole family. The kids enjoyed the sea and delicious food. I would love to go back in the near future to experience more of what the island has to offer. Consider any tourist location in Jamaica and you will leave with great memories.

Nice Experience

My experience was quite nice at Sunscape. The highlight of the trip was the great staff and how they made me feel. The warmth, smile and service of the staff made the time spent enjoyable. Food was fine and the front desk interaction was smooth. Want to commend the leadership and staff for making the time memorable. Keep up the great job!

The title says it all. friendly and helpful but the physical property could use some upgrading. Very small beach area, food was average, the cookout was fantastic. Specialty restaurants not worthy of your time. Go to the buffet. like every all - inclusive buffet though, breakfast is the best meal of the day

Location and resort stunning..let's itself down with the rest!

So I am writing this on our last night, still at the hotel (I always forget to do it once back to reality)...I don't often leave reviews but felt this may be needed. We got here on the 9th September and leaving19th. Let's start with the good stuff...location all I can say is wow! The resort is right on a beautiful beach with rocky and sandy parts. It is completely private to the resort which makes it feel really bespoke to us. It's also nice not to have to travel off-site to a beach! The views are picturesque and to die for. There are various pools all catering for adults and kids. The slides and lazy river are ok but our 7 year old seems to be entertaining himself more in the standard pools. They aren't overly quick so think it gets boring quite quickly! (Note: they are quite strict on kids jumping into pools and how they play)...Kids club is fantastic. They have indoor (crafts, PlayStation) and outdoor (tennis, swimming) activities. Unfortunately there weren't many kids going so he did a few tennis lessons but again got bored just going on his own. They give you a phone which I think is a fantastic idea in respect to safety etc. Food... is really nice and we have got to eat alot of traditional Jamaican food. The child has always managed to find something but be prepared with picky eaters. It is quite repetitive but if you are sensible you can mix it up enough. They did have gluten free options last night but that is the only time I have seen it. Drinks... I saw a few reviews about them being weak but that's not my experience. Lots of different cocktails to try and mocktails for those who don't drink. They have coke, sprite etc and have fruit punch. So good selection. Staff... on the whole the staff are fab and really friendly. I feel the best staff are the entertainment and buffet staff as they are really attentive. Bar staff and reception can be a bit sulky but I guess not everyone can be happy all the time. Other guests... pleasantly surprised at the difference to European hotels. Majority of people are from US. There were only a few from UK and Europe. The difference in manners was unbelievable. Everyone saying hello to eachother. No one hogging beds with towels at 6am. Politely waiting in the food queues. Was just a really nice atmosphere. Ok so onto the things that let the place down..some may think they are minor but for me they are the basic expectations. Food... As I mentioned above..the food does get repetitive and a bit boring at times. On top of this the decided to close the buffet unexpectedly on multiple occasions with out proper warning. This was frustrating. Apparently it's so the Al a carte get a chance to open. I get it is out of season but notice would've been nice. The other restaurants are ok. The seaside grill is best for quality and service. The Italian for some reason takes forever to seat and serve so be prepared for a wait but the steak in there is delicious. The Asian is nice and good service but nothing to rant and rave about! Rooms... The rooms are ok but nothing special. We did have a lovely view over the bay which made it better but otherwise very standard. Service... On multiple occasions the cleaners took our towels and did not replace them. They also left us with out a bath mat leaving it potentially rather dangerous (without spare towels to put down). Also our fridge has not been stocked at times, yesterday they knocked once and just walked in, mid my partner getting changed. Shop... The onsite shop is crazy expensive both souvenirs and medicine etc. (Bring it all with you). When we did buy our little one a bracelet it came undone in 3 days. When I tried to return it the normal shop girls were great really smiley and friendly but the manager was a bit miserable to be honest and told me that they don't do returns and refunds but if she does do it this once I cannot return it again. It just seemed like too much effort and tried to shift blame on to our son for going swimming! It was quite irritating. Anyway I got a replacement but considering it cost 9 dollars the situation wasn't ideal! Medical... Wow! This! Our little one got sand in is eye and was in alot of pain so we took him to the nurse to tell us we need to pay 30 dollars just for an assessment. I'm not sure if this is common place but all we wanted was for them to have a quick look and wash it out or maybe just be bothered. My partner is a nurse so we refused and sorted it best ourselves again not an ideal situation! Activities... Erm well not much to say on this. Alot of the activities are held by the waterpark but we weren't aware of this and found out by accident. Anything going on in the day is on a sheet of paper that you have to go and hunt out on notice boards or ask for at reception. Overall as I said it is the little things that count. In respect to location we could not have asked for more but the rest let it down and that is a real shame. We have had a lovely 10 day holiday and for what we paid we cannot majorly complain but I want people to manage expectations before getting here. It is what you make it and we have made it a family holiday to remember...we did two trips with Virgin ...south coast safari and Rick's cafe. Both of which were amazing so definitely recommend. Wish I could give more stars and the potential for this site is unbelievable but needs quite a fair bit of work first. Would I come back? Don't think I would to this hotel sadly.
