Hi Sunscape Just got home from holiday at sunscape, would just like to say thank you for the amazing time we had. We travelled as four adults and one infant and stayed for 2 weeks. We were abit nervous about taking our 2 year old son to dominican republic because of the distance from UK and never being to the carribean before..... But after immediately arriving at hotel the nerves were gone. All staff from bell boys, maids, bar staff and entertainment was first class. They all took time to come over and greet us and make an extra effort with our son. From making him laugh to asking for high fives and making sure he was having fun. Out of all the hotels from previous holiday the staff you have outperformed them all and deserve a massive thank you as this made the holiday. Also we would like to give a special mention to victor and angelena from entertainment team, who were magnificent and really went out of there way to make the holiday special and even got us speaking basic Spanish, running around pool and diving on paddle boards with the pool games 😄😄 they really are a credit to your team and took our experience to the next level. By the end of the trip Samson our son was looking around everyday to say hi and interact with them. He built a fantastic relationship and made him feel like he was having fun all the time and comfortable im such new surroundings. We were sad to say goodbye on our last day and wish we could stay another 2 weeks😭 there were many others that could have had mention but victor and angelena stood out. If you could pass on a big thank you from us and tell victor that that Mr and mrs England and Mr and mrs lazy will be defiantly coming again to see him and stay at hotel again. Thanks

Enjoyable vacation in a clean hotel.

On the air plane to the DR, there's a lot of paperwork to fill out, so please take a pen with you, especially if you're traveling with a family of 5 , like I was. After the frustration of all the forms one has to fill up at the airport if travelling with kids under 18 ( which feels like you've just duplicated , if not triplicated, ) the people affiliated with the tour group was well organized. The 25min ride from the airport to the resort was quick and easy. Arriving at the resort , we were one of two families. We arrived first at the front desk but this second family just pushed ahead.Check in should have been quicker, but the people manning the front desk try to understand and to be understood in English as best they can. The restaurants close at 10pm so although we landed at 8:45pm we only reached the hotel just after 10:15pm. The " Tamarindo " snack bar/restaurant was the only place open to eat. The lobby still served drinks. After we were assigned our rooms, the porters escorted us promptly to our building. There are a certain # of rooms which accommodate a family of 5. It consists of two inter- connected rooms one had x2 double beds and the other has a King bed. Each room is large, spacious and clean with superb bathrooms. The air conditioner in the room with x2 double beds wasn't working but it was cool enough as the door connecting both rooms was open and they were both sufficiently cooled. It was repaired the next day after telling our tour representative. Everything was very clean. Although we did forget our Lysol wipes. As a rule my family doesn't use the coffee makers or glasses in room unless we've cleaned them out ourselves with the Lysol wipes. The tap water is not fit for human consumption ( per our travel company representative who we met the next day. It is good for showering and brushing ones teeth, but don't drink it) The hotel provides bottled water to drink and it uses the bottled water that's trucked in each day for cooking) There seem to be a lot of locals on the weekend and it seems to fit in with previous posters that explained how the hotel sells day passes to the locals. No problem though. The barmen are friendly and attentive. As a Canadian we are used to politely waiting in line and they seem to appreciate that. The lobby has free wifi , which can be a bit slow if there are many people using it. Still, I was able to turn my lights on/ off at home thru my web connected apps....wemo...nest..etc. The food is mostly good and there's something for everyone. The staff are very friendly and hard working. No one is slacking off. from the bar men, to the waitstaff to the people sweeping the restaurant on the beach and even the guy collecting all the sea grass that washes up on shore. He constantly sweeps it and places in a wheelbarrow for disposal. Mightily impressed. Everything is very clean here. When on the beach there's a myriad of vendors that constantly ask you to purchase their wares. A polite " no thank you " usually saw them off. Beaches are public areas in the DR, which I absolutely agree with. The beach itself is very secluded in a " bay type" area which makes for less choppy waters and a lack of waves. Very nice. On our first night we had car alarms going off at 12:14am and then again at 2:27am. Also, someone was using a gas powered hedge cutter at 05:30am. Needless to say , our first night wasn't sleep nirvana. We told our tour representative and he told the front desk( in Spanish) They said they would send security that night to see what's going on and if we still had problems we could see other rooms which would be available on the Monday. No further problems occurred and we had a very peaceful next night. After our 10am meeting with our tour representative the next day, we were approached by a person wanting to sell us a time share sorta thing . His opening line was friendly but misleading with " free spa's" for the wife and myself. I was aware of this because of previous posters. I politely declined after calling him out on his selling tactics. He wanted to know how I knew about it?.....lol....doesn't he read the reviews on the Internet.....??...lol. If you have a late night flight ( 9:40pm in our case) checkout time is 12:00pm. We had to check our luggage in a holding room. To get a room for late checkout costs an extra $10 USD PER HOUR. This isn't something our tour operator told us about at the early morning meeting . Furthermore, when I enquired at the front desk 2mins later, they informed me that late checkout was $15.00USD PER HOUR. The Gohan restaurant is tastefully decorated and it allows for ages 12 and up despite saying " adults only" The house wine which is served is vinegary, and contrives to give one a headache. Service is friendly yet slow. Checkout was smooth - ish and we were given a " ticket" to give to security to say that everything was squared. We were on a late flight( 9:40pm) yet we were still required to checkout at 12pm. We still made use of the facilities and when ready we asked security for a " courtesy room " to be able to shower and change. This room is provided for 30 mins, per the front desk and when we got inside it there were no longer any clean towels. The security escort told us to call the front desk to have clean towels brought to the room but the phone in that room doesn't work. So I walked to the front desk to inform them. 30 minutes later 3 towels arrived . We are a family of 5. After showering we left the resort.

The Resort was great the most important part is how the people that work in the hotel are so professional. LikeEdgar

I expend a six day on the hotel the food was great many different food and different restaurant. I enjoy the beach, the pool. Most important the amiability of the personal the worked at the hotel For example Edgar Marmolejos, Yubelki, and the dancers and different shows each night. I was away early part of my life and i can say the Edgar Marmolejos was always with a good attitude to help me and my family to be served by the others.

I e-mailed the hotel inquiring about the status of the hotel after the hurricane. They replied that they were all safe and that the hurricane only produced minor damage. The resort is open for business! We'll be there October 7. If anyone is there before please send updates!
