From the moment we walked in the door, we felt like valued guests in this slice of heaven. The staff was very engaging in the guests (and us). The staff set up activities for anyone who wants to have an active day in the resort, but also kept it peaceful for those who wanted to sit in the lap of luxury for the entire day. The staff was very kind, Helpful, and always had a smile on their face. One girl in particular, Billie Rodriguez, blew us away with her kind-hearted servant attitude. In my many years of traveling, I have never witnessed such a servant like her, and highly recommend Secrets The Vine to anybody looking for an experience of a lifetime. More>

Back again! 5th stay - 64 nights in total!
Janice-and-Ali, Scotland
Thu May 19 12:45:45 EDT 2016
Back at Secrets the Vine for our 5th stay between 2nd and 16th May 2016. Since the hotel opened in 2012, we have spent 64 nights here now so I think I'm qualified to do a good review! I love it ... love it ... love it! It is worth the long journey from Scotland, to spend some time here. A great place to chill out and re-charge your batteries. This time, we were treated like royalty. The resort does not award loyalty points or credits to earn (thankfully). Instead, they just treat us like VIP's and look after us so well. Everyone from the General Manager - Jean-Pierre Sorin - to the cleaners, knew we were returning and pulled out all the stops to make our vacation really special. So what is so good about Secrets the Vine? * The views are spectacular. * Our Preferred Club Junior Suite on the 27th floor was stunning. The bed is really comfy and the shower is great. The seating - both in the room and on the balcony - is super comfortable too. There's loads of space for storage, huge closets and plenty drawers. The vanity area in the bathroom is huge too. * The hotel is very clean - everywhere. They clean all day every day. Someone is always mopping, sweeping, wiping and polishing, everywhere you go. * The food in the restaurants is amazing. We especially love Bluewater Grill; Nebbiolo; Olio and Dragons. * The staff are just so lovely - friendly, polite, genuine people who do a wonderful job. * The daily wine tastings are fantastic - the Sommeliers are excellent and it is a great way to socialise with other guests. * The entertainment around the main pools during the day, is varied and of a really high standard - sax player; bands and singers; gymnasts; dancers; even synchronised swimmers! * The Vine Coffee shop is great for all inclusive coffees and muffins, cakes, sweet treats, cookies and pretzels at any time of the day or night. * Our opinions - both from previous reviews on Trip Advisor and from comments made during our stay are always listened to, and acted upon. It is clear that customer feedback is very important here. What could be better? * Not much to be honest, but in the interest of giving a balanced review, here are a few suggestions. * The main swimming pool areas need more umbrellas, as it is so hot in the middle of the day. We were asked on a few occasions if we would give up our umbrella and let someone else have it. This is not acceptable for a 5 star hotel. Staff were constantly stealing umbrellas from one area and moving them to another (including the Pool Concierge!). The rule should be - every 2 sun loungers = 1 umbrella. The hotel needs to buy more. * The bartenders working in the Lobby Bar are not nearly as good as those from previous stays. They mix a good drink, but have very little interaction with the guests. This bar used to be a fun place to spend time. Not any more. The only one there trying really hard was Guillermina. * The prices in the Spa are ridiculously high. Even the special offers are far too expensive. The Spa would be busier, if the prices were more reasonable. A full body massage for 1 hour should never cost more than £60 or $90. * We didn't really like the menu or the food in Sea Salt Restaurant at night time. Peruvian is a strange cuisine for the resort to feature. We have already provided feedback and alternative suggestions about this to Hector - the Food and Beverage Manager. * Outdoor food at lunchtime would benefit from a nice salad bar. * We thought that some of the public areas in the Lobby were too hot and required better air conditioning - especially around the Lobby Bar and the Coffee Shop. Who were our favourite people? In all honesty, there were dozens of them and we cannot mention them all. Here are a few of the best (and I'm really sorry if I missed you out!). * Sommelier Martin. An absolute star who has blossomed over the years and is now confident, knowledgeable and great fun. His customer service is outstanding. * Krystal Martinez - Head Concierge - also took great care of us and genuinely wanted to make sure we were OK every day. A great welcome. * Chef Mery-Jo in Olio - so talented to produce such amazing food. She wanted us to taste everything, and we were always stuffed! * Chef Adan in Nebbiolo - a young culinary star who just wants you to love his food (and we did!). He has a real passion for cooking and it shows. * Hostess Wendoly in the Market Café - always smiling and a real star. A really genuine, lovely person and we loved her. Also Hostesses Gloria and Mariana. * Market Café waiters Marcelo and Alberto - a great team - both so much fun and we shared a laugh with them every day. I got a hug every morning. Waiter Francisco in Olio was lovely too. * Entertainment team - Axel, Valeria and Stephanie - all lovely and a great asset to the resort. * Pool service - Martha and Blanca - they work so hard in such hot weather. * Not forgetting the Management team - Jean-Pierre; Hector; Ariel and Giovanni - all excellent. We cannot wait to see you all again in 2017. Thank you all for an amazing holiday. I cannot praise this hotel highly enough. It feels like our second home. More>

A great time

My husband and I went here for our 29th wedding Anniversary. We are from NY and it was a quick flight and short drive to the airport. We have been to Cancun several times before, but never at an all inclusive. We were a bit leery, but it was really wonderful. The rooms were beautiful, and spotless. The staff was fabulous. Alberto in the preferred pool area was on point. He knew your name and your drink almost immediately and greeted you every morning. We didn't love the steak house. I thought there was no atmosphere and the food wasn't great. that was our first night dinner so we were a little nervous about the rest of the stay. But it was all good after that. The buffet breakfast is terrific. Lunches were eaten by our chair at the pool or in Sea Salt. Both were great. Loved Dragons--really delicious and the servers were the nicest in all the restaurants. Loved the Italian as well.. If I had one negative comment, it would be that as a preferred member there was not top shelf alcohol available throughout the resort. Some places had it, some places didn't. It was annoying to have to go the 12th floor to get a drink if I wanted a top shelf one. Doesn't make sense to me. It should be available in all the bar areas. One other thing that I found odd. One night we ate in the Italian restaurant and were thinking about ordering a bottle of wine. The wine was $124.00. I said to the waiter we aren't paying a $124.00 for that bottle. We will pay $40.00 . We eventually agreed upon $50.00 for the bottle--but I don't want to go someplace and worry that I am getting ripped off. The same thing happened the next night at dragons--but we were prepared this time, and gave the price we were willing to pay for the wine and they agreed upon it. They should just lower the prices of the wine and not do that...kinda left a bad taste for us. Otherwise...place is fabulous, beach is beautiful---Go and Enjoy More>

Melissa and I had a very nice time at Secrets. The hotel was beautiful and clean and the staff was outstanding. The food for the good but not great for the most part. Nebbiolo was bar far the best. Adan and Edwin were terrific hosts. Angel was our butler and he was so helpful. He made our trip very special. We paid extra for preferred level and it was worth every penny. Having our preferred rooftop pool was terrific and Sylvia and Blanca were so helpful! We love having fun but did not want to deal with 50 year old spring breakers at the lower pool. It seemed like the cocktail selections were somewhat limited and only mini bottles of a few liquors were left in the room. This is our second trip to cancun and we will go back again. Secrets was a good value, but overall we liked Hyatt Zilara much better. More>

The location was fabulous and just a short ride from the airport which is always a plus! Overall we found the staff to be pleasant and extremely accommodating which was at times not an easy task as there were 18 of us. LOL. But they went out of their way to ensure we sat together during our meals which was appreciated and tipping never hurts even at an all inclusives. I would rate them a five except after paying for a last minute upgrade I missed out on spending an evening with my friends and some time everyday every day of my trip because the door to Suite 1500 would not lock sometimes when I would attempt to leave the room. They did successfully repair it. Unfortunately, it was on the last day of my trip. More>
