Great place! Great price!

We initially booked our stay at GR Solaris, but after a very unhappy and unpleasant experience, we decided to change resorts after our first day. Secrets of the Vine immediately relieved our stress and troubles when we arrived. As soon as we walked in, they served us champagne and took our bags. Check in is 3 p.m.: Room: Pros - Ocean View, Balcony, Big Closet, Comfortable Beds, Dual Shower Heads, Mood Lighting, Incense you can burn, Keurig (generic version), Room Service - Have breakfast in your room at least once! It's awesome! Cons - Sulfar Water - (The P - Trap allows a very foul odor to fill the room at times), the toilet is in a glass box - no privacy. Food: BRING NICE CLOTHES! All the food is pretty good, and at least four of the restaurants require you to wear nice clothes. They have a coffee bar and a relaxing place to sit by the fire. Like football? Don't worry about missing the game! There's a bar called "Half Time," and that was one of my favorites. They have all inclusive boneless wings, cheddar peppers, chilie cheese fries, and burgers! Drinks: All of the drinks are pretty tasty, and they like to sneak up on you! Top shelf liqour is typically found at the "preferred" restaurants, open to the "non - preferred" at night, but sometimes you can find it during the day if you're lucky. Entertainment:. Absolutely amazing! They have a piano bar, and one of the nights they had "A Night in Paris," and the dancers were incredible! Very sexy and elegant. There was even a pro hula-hooper! During the day they had a few live bands, a saxist, dancers, break dancers, dance lessons, and water aerobics. Service:. Service was hit or miss. Some of them were very polite and friendly and made sure we had what we needed, others would walk by several times without offering to refill our beverages or they would disappear for a long time. I would say Sea Salt outside was the worst of them, BUT after a few days we found our favorite servers. Itzel and Miguel were my two favorite pool servers. They were extremely nice, and they always made sure we had a drink in our hand. Eduardo made sure we had a place to sit and went all the way down to the beach to grab us an umbrella! Ricardo at the Dragon Bar made sure we had drinks in the hot tub after the bars had closed by the pool and my fiancé had to venture up to grab us some. Jesus was our favorite server at Sea Salt. He was THE only server we had there that was super nice and made sure we had what we needed. Samuel at Bluewater conversated with us, built a connection, and served us well. Gieser was our server during breakfast and he was sweet and wonderful as well! By far the best servers we had our entire trip, was Heydy and Dany at half time. Their service was EXCELLENT! They seemed happy to be there, and gave us what we needed before we needed it. BUT all of these people are the people to see at this resort. They work extremely hard and deliver excellent service! Our stay at Secrets was amazing, and we will definitely be going back again! More>

WOW!
kevinls1972, Las Vegas, Nevada

Where do I start! Wow! I have been in the hospitality industry for 30 years working at 4 and 5 diamond resorts in the US as well as upscale private golf clubs. And my wife has done the same for about 20 years. We live and work in Las Vegas and have worked in other hospitality driven cities in the US. So, to say we know good consistent service is an understatement. We booked a 7 day trip in mid September. When checked in, the greeting of "welcome home" is a wonderful greeting. While you are not actually "home" so to speak, they definitely make you feel right at home. The scented towels and champagne when you check in is also a wonderful touch and a great way to start a vacation. Every time you tell an employee "thank you" for something they did or provide, the response was always "my pleasure". Another great way for the staff to end each guest interaction. We upgraded to the VIP floors which is worth it. You definitely get some great perks including access the private VIP pool on the 12th floor. You also get a butler on your floor and we were on floor 27. Our butler was Arturo and what a valuable employee he is. He is all about making sure his guests he interacts with have the best possible service experience within the hotel during your stay and makes you want to come back an visit asap!! I was thoroughly impressed by everything he provided and did for us while we were there. Thank you Arturo! The rooms are gorgeous with great views. Keep in mind that you have hotels on both sides of the buildings that have activities each night outside and you ill hear it in your room. Not much you can do about it, but each night the noise seem to settle at around 10PM or so. The rooms are incredibly modern and sound proof from room to room. But, the hotel being in the tropics and everyone coming from the beach and/or pool is all hard surfaces (tile, marble, or laminate flooring) which is great. But the echoes in the guest room halls is loud and you can hear everything in your room. The staff does their best to work quietly in the halls, but all it takes is one idiot guest that thinks that yelling and screaming in the halls at midnight to wake everyone up. Carpet would mold over so quick there because of the humidity, so the hard floors are great, but that is a negative about the guest room areas. The food and beverage staff here is great and the food is good to very good. Our favorite restaurant was Nebbiollo and we went there twice. Jorge was our server both nights and he was awesome! Definitely was on top of our table and at any time he felt he wasn't readily available to us, he would apologize which was completely unnecessary! A top server in my book! There were two pool servers, Itsal (spelling?) and Teresa who were just incredible. The fact that they can remember what you drink each day especially when you are sitting in different spots, is amazing in itself. They do their jobs with a beautiful smile and have fun while they are out there. I will say that it seemed that they were off on Sunday while we were there and the service definitely suffered a bit. Same thing with housekeeping. It seemed as though when the "A team" is off, the "B team", while very friendly and cordial just wasn't as strong as the top staff members. Like I said, the food is good to very good. The Asian restaurant, the sushi was incredible, but the dinner dishes were pretty bad. We should have stuck with the sushi and we would have been fine. Both our duck and beef were overcooked and tough. We did the BBQ night at the market Street Café and it was ok. The cold items were very good, but the hot items were not really BBQ at all and did not taste very good. I am more of a critic in this area as I spent many years in Tennessee and Georgia, so I do know good BBQ when I eat it! Nebbiollo and the Seafood/Steak restaurant (forget the name) were both very very good from the first course until dessert. We ate petty much everywhere else too and the food was all good. Just the ones I mentioned above stuck out as not so good and very very good. Our only bad experience was taking the vacation package tour that we were offered to do. Very much like a timeshare type of presentation, but the deal is actually a good deal. It was just bad timing for us in regards to purchasing it. Scott was our tour guide and he did a great job selling the product and the company. He was honest and upfront with everything discussed, so there were no secrets or anything like that. But, when the time came for them to bring in the big sales guy to try and close the deal, we knew we weren't going to buy at that point which is what we told Scott. The guy came over, I forget his name, and was pretty much rude from the get go and could really care less if we were sitting in front of him. He was already looking at the next table he had to go to and already in his mind and in his body language blew us off. This infuriated me to no end as it is so unprofessional, but I was on vacation and I wasn't going to let him get to me. He finished, and we collected our gift which was an amount of money to use on an excursion and went on our way. If we were remotely interested in these packages with better timing on our part, this guy would have turned me off completely. He was a typical used car salesman sales guy. Basically, what I expected with this presentation, but Scott was very good and would be someone I would see again about buying the package if it ever came up again. Also, if you do decide to go on an excursion or do activities outside the hotel, see BD Travel. They were great, honest, and priced very well for the tours and excursions they provide. At the end of the day, the GM of this hotel/resort should be very proud of this staff. All very professional (except for the used car salesman sales guy) and willing to do what it takes to take care of the guests. We will definitely be back to visit this hotel/resort. Totally worth every penny you pay. I have heard some true nightmares about other resorts in Cancun, so we were very happy to be able to have an experience that exceeded our expectations! More>

Honeymoon of a lifetime!
Devenney1976, Columbia, Missouri
Wed Sep 21 11:32:35 EDT 2016
My wife and I travelled to Secrets for our Honeymoon. We made reservations for the Junior Preferred Suites prior to our arrival. It's a little more costly but well worth the extra money we spent. Upon our arrival we where greater by our main Butler, Mariam NOTE!! Typically you will arrive prior to your room being ready at 3:30/4:00. Pack your swim suit and your Yeti mugs so you can hangout at the pool and have drinks while you wait!). Anyway Mariam, was amazing for our entire stay. Anything we needed she was on it; from changing out our larger billed American money into smaller bill American to leaving us well wishes every night on a card next to our bottle of champagne. Our evening Butler, Auturo, was also just as amazing and helpful. (One downside is both our main Butlers where not on duty of the weekend. Not the end of the world but something to keep in mind). We mainly stayed in the "Preferred" pool. Mainly due to the higher standard of service we received at the pool. The Head Pool Butler, Silvia and her assistant, Giovanni where on top of everything. Moving our umbrellas for optimum coverage throughout the day. Not only did the preferred pool wait staff, Martha and Sergio, and bartender, Mike, know my wife and I by our name after one day but they also knew what our preferred drink was. Another perk was they all insured we had a bucket ice containing bottles of water at all times. When we did go down to the beach it was always clean and well groomed. Both the main beach butlers, Thervin and Gustavo, took amazing care of us. Similar to the preferred level they insured our drinks where never empty and that we had ample shade with the umbrella. Thervin also assisted me in getting us a discounted rate on a snorkeling excursion. Because of these mentioned staff members we will be returning. As for the food dinning and night life. We typically had breakfast on the 21 floor at the preferred lounge. Our server was, Erick. Again Erick knew my wife's and my coffee order and juice order every time we stepped off the elevator. The preferred lounge offered a small variety of options, danishes, yogurt, warm buffet. We ate heir because it was what we wanted and def convenient. Note: after 9:45/10:00 they stop refilling the buffet. For lunch and dinner we ate at every restaurant but one. Our favorites by far where the Olio (lunch), Nebbiolo Ristorante, and the Bluewater Grill. We loved the Bluewater so much we ended up eating their three times with our favorite server, Justo. Justo twice made special arrangements for additional items from other menus to be brought in for us. We did not care for the Sea Salt grill. Food was by far substandard from anything else we ate during our entire stay. As for the night life we went to the Piano Bar. The DJ would play American dance music then switch it over to more of Salsa/ Popular Mexican dance music. The other couples we where with all agreed it would have been nice to have a little bit more of a mix of both instead of just one or the other. The Hotel also offered other night time entertainment that we where told was "ok", I can't comment on that because typically we ate a late dinner and missed these shows. All in all. We had a wonderful time and it was hard to leave such an amazing place. More>

Excellent holiday yet again

This was our second visit to the vine and fourth to the secrets chain. Food excellent, drinks excellent and our room was brilliant and it is worth going preferred club. I have been to a lot of hotels in vacation round the world and this is really one of our favourites for everything. Thanks to Gabriella and Daniel our 23rd butlers for all their help and their friendliness. Nothing was too much trouble for them. The preferred club pool was lovely and had excellent service from Alberto and Martha and our pool butler Silvia was excellent and friendly. All staff in the piano bar were brilliant as were the staff the sports bar. Was disappointed with the time share guy Juan who was nice and then as soon as we didn't buy and had to take us for the voucher he ignored us and spoke to his friend in the elevator and didn't even say bye which shows a bad side of the hotel service and did spoil a part of my day but par of the course in time share but could put people off returning to the hotel again.
