Stayed here for 4 days for a destination wedding.

The resort had a daily entertainment program for kids and adults and back up rainy day activiites. There were several restaurants to choose from including a large buffet. We always looked for Modesto and Miguel when we went to the buffet because these guys were the best!. Very friendly, attentive, and genuinely nice. Even though we were eating at a buffet they made sure our table was set with flowers, fresh linens, and kept our cups and glasses full. The room service was a good, but the dining service really stood out. More>

Hotel is amazing, room service 24 hours, everyone very attentive. We were a large wedding group (60) , it was hard to keep tabs on everyone but all of them find something to do - even the little ones. Special thanks to Tony "Montana" Pacheco, he is in-charge of the bar at the relaxing pool (Funny guy - keeps it fun and good spirits! Ask for the "Tony Montana" which is gin based cocktail! More>

Got to Thank Nanda at Beach Bum Vacations for setting up this wonderful trip. We attended a destination wedding. I was very impressed of the most memorable wedding I have ever attended. The Resort really does a great job paying attention to all the little details. The resort was very comfortable and accommodating. So happy the wedding was one week before Tropical Storm Erica hit the Island. I really appreciated all that Davis did for us. He was very attentive to all our needs. The pools were excellent. The beach fantastic. There is seaweed that constantly is being removed....but what can you expect...Its the sea. You just step past it and enjoy the water. The lounges and poolside bars were amazing with wonderful drinks of the day to try out. Different activities going on all the time and fun Evening Shows. We were not able to get to all the restaurants and the ones we tried were enjoyable. Cant say we enjoyed all the food, but there is lots of choices. If you don't find something you like try something else. I found several favs. Beach bum vacations were so attentive to our questions and needs getting us booked and we found them to always be available. Loved the resort and would go back in a heart beat. Nice, but lacking

Nice resort, but it seems as though unless you pay for the "preferred status", you can't do much else. I've been to resorts where the premium guests get more perks, but not to this extent. You can't even use certain entrances/exits for the hotel unless you're preferred! You can't use their continental breakfast area, their lounge, their free WiFi....nothing. WiFi can be purchased by non-preferred guests at the resort main lobby for an expensive rate. Beaches are nice and clean. The staff can be seen in the early morning hours clearing out a lot of the seaweed. The pools are nice, but again, some pools are exclusively for preferred guests. The main pool is large and has a huge blow up climber for the kids floating in the middle. Overall nice, but likely wouldn't return unless I'm "preferred". More>

Overall met our expectations for a great relaxing family vacation!

We did a lot of research on TA prior to selecting NOW Larimar in Punta Cana. Thanks to TA reviews the resort overall met our expectations and we were not disappointed. We booked through Apple Vacations and were pleased that we were able to stay well within our budget for 7 nights and non-stop flights at reasonable hours from NYC to Punta Cana. We took a chance being hurricane season but got lucky that we only had one stormy day due to Erika. It is not 5 star resort, food is satisfactory and diverse but coming from NYC our standards are high. The buffet has enough variety for our family, Wilken was our main waiter and always greeted us with a smile. It was clear that staff do not share tips with other staff. Also noticed that not everyone tips at the restaurants and bars, although we tried to. Staff work for 11-12 days straight with little sleep and get a break for 3 days when they go home to their families. The transfer from the airport to resort was great (Apple Vacations). Our luggage was tagged at the entrance to be taken to our room and we were greeted by a cocktail. Our check-in was fine UNTIL immediately after we were introduced to a man who was part of the "VIP" staff and proceeded to sit us down in the lounge for a talk (family of 5, kids ages 9, 10, 12) He told us he can give us something if we give him something. We are still not sure what he was trying to sell us, maybe a time share or the preferred club? I had to cut him off and tell him that we were travelling for 8 hours now and the kids would like to go use the pool. The management should be ashamed of this aspect of the resort, especially doing this to guests IMMEDIATELY upon arrival. We were not interested in the Preferred Club, it was not worth the extra 1000-2000$ they were quoting us but based on reviews it is worth it to some. Entertainment team and waitstaff were all overall very friendly, courteous and fun. They did "make" the resort in many ways. I enjoyed the exercise classes pool/beachside and the 3pm entertainment at the pool. The evening entertainment was satisfactory as well. Attention to detail at the resort is lacking, mainly at the restaurants. For example, a waiter would pour one glass of water only and forget the other 4 glasses. Once we asked for a main meal to be brought out for one person while appetizers were brought out for the others - this person's food did not come until ALL of the other MAIN courses were served. When I made a reservation for Spice at the concierge desk I asked for a happy birthday song/candle for one our family members to take place during dessert. I then I asked the hostess/waiter the night of our dinner and was very disappointed that I had to ask 2 more staff members once again after they brought dessert and no candle/singing accompanied this, a VERY simple request that I had made was ignored. The resort also seemed a little unorganized where when I had a question I had to ask many different groups of people and was transferred from one area to another. We had an adjoining deluxe family room. We were very pleased with the location, patio faced the garden area where they have weddings. Proximity to pool/beach and main plaza was perfect. We visited the upper section of the resort and truth be told if they placed us there we would have been very disappointed (one buffet and one restaurant, pool but all small and far from beach). Our rooms were fine, bathrooms were very spacious. The beds smelled of mildew though, I believe I read about a musty smell possibly due to humid climate. The smell bothered me the first few nights I was sleeping. Maid service was good, have to ask for fresh towels since this is not standard. My sleep quality was not great the whole week due to noise outside the room. Very rude guests being very loud, running, yelling, etc. late at night and I am unsure if management/staff does anything about this. I understand people are having a good time, but management should consider ALL guests. As a family with children who get up early, we are in bed early, so asking for quiet in the halls after 11pm doesn't seem unreasonable. Poolside towels were available in a timely manner all but one day. I didn't realize there was a waitress by the poolside that you could order drinks from until the 3rd day, was never approached and I had to seek her out. As far as the restaurants, the reservations for Spice go very fast and honestly the wait was not worth it. We have better Hibachi restaurants in NY. I felt rushed - we were in and out within an hour and they did not give enough food. Eating at Spice a la carte without a reservation was WAY better. Blue Water was our least favorite. Tamarind was good too. One of our children has a gluten free diet and we carried around a letter to show the restaurant staff which helped a lot since it was written in Spanish. We are certain that she did get some gluten in her which is part of the deal though when travelling, it would be impossible for us to know for sure that what she was eating was 100% GF. The seaweed on the beach did not bother us since we were warned by reviews here and it's part of the natural environment there. Overall the resort was very well kept, lots of staff working hard daily to maintain the look and comfort. Our 9 and 10 yo tried the kids club but felt a little old for it. The pools were amazing. the room called Score with pools tables, bowling and fooseball was good for the rainy day. Overall very grateful for a wonderful relaxing vacation! More>
