Hotel overall is decent, however the food was awful with the exception of breakfast(Henry) the guy making the omlettes was great. Had to spend extra money to eat outside of the resort. My family & I stayed here for a week to celebrate my sister's destination wedding. The food was better than food I've eaten at most all-inclusive resorts. There was a decent variety and a good salad bar. The specialty restaurants required long pants and collared shirts for men. The restaurants really needed some music. They were good, but I thought Sandals was much better. Overall the hotel was kept pretty clean. You constantly saw the employees keeping the grounds clean and neat. On two occasions, we saw huge cockroaches. One was in our shower and the other was scurrying about in the hotel lobby in the evening at around 9 PM. Bugs are to be expected on any Caribbean island though, so while we were grossed out we knew it was normal. Many of the hotel employees were really snooty and seemed to resent helping you. For some unknown reason, I found the women MUCH nastier than the men. The men were helpful and friendly; the women acted like you were bothering them or were putting them out of their way. For example, I was at the fitness center and saw only empty coffee/tea cups. Upon finishing a workout I asked if there was coffee. The woman there barked back through clenched teeth "No MA'AM. Just what you see." I said, "what do you pour into this cup?" (which was really ALL you saw, plus some empty tin creamer cans) and she snapped "TEA!" I said "oooookay..." and just left. The reception ladies of the spa were quite snippy too. I booked a massage and told them I was using a $50 spa credit when I booked it. When I went to sign the form for the remainder to be charged to the room, I had to argue for them to apply the credit. The woman did not want to honor the coupon. After an uncomfortable encounter, she finally did. If you have young children or are bringing an elderly relative OR plan on drinking too much, be careful! There is a step in the room that separates the bed from the pull out sofa that requires a CONSCIOUS effort to not trip over. I had to keep reminding my 5 year old son to watch his step. My other son is special needs and tripped on it. He hit his chin and got a huge bruise. My dad who is not elderly and doesn't drink also fell down it twice injuring himself. I am guessing other guests also had the same problem as I would hear furniture being moved in the morning (presumably to block off the step) as I have done after my son fell. Much of the furniture is also pointy and made of marble- not a good choice if you have young children! The pool was good. There is a lazy river but like others said, there is no current to propel you forward. You have to get on the raft (if you can fit) and paddle it yourself. The rafts are designed to fit children, not adults. I am a petite woman and was barely able to fit in it. There is a kids' waterpark, which was great. It was not crowded at all and my kids loved it. The ocean was way too rough for children and most adults. Most of our party did not find it enjoyable. My brother in law almost stepped on a sea urchin. If you want to surf you might like it. If not be prepared for rough water and lots of seaweed. The temperature of the water was great. It was too bad it was so rough. Overall, this vacation was better than being home but I wouldn't go back. I'll stick to Aruba or St. Lucia or even Cancun.
