Great Resort!

My boyfriend and I stayed at the Iberostar Paraiso del Mar for a one week vacation in May. The resort was beautiful, food was very delicious and everything is very accessible. The resort staff were very friendly, the room was clean and we enjoyed the large swinging tree lounge beds to sun on. Very lovely resort, would go back! More>

Overall the resort was ok. The food was average and in some cases terrible (the beach grille in particular). We ate at the Mexican, Gourmet (make sure you bring long pants top ware in the restaurant) and Brazilian restaurants. The lobster at the Gourmet restaurant was tough and inedible. The beef is your best bet. Overall the Mexican place was the best choice. We heard from some other guest that the Steak House restaurant was also not very good. The breakfast buffet was the best in terms of inclusive meals. As far as the drinks go they only offer well or 2nd tier alcohol. So if you like Jack Daniels, or a better Tequila, Vodka, or Bourbon, bring your own or buy some at liquor store there. For beer your only choice is Dos Equis (no Corona or Modelo). They will put cans of Superior beer in your room fridge. Our room had two double beds. Fine for our son but pretty small for my wife and I. Also they were really firm - I actually slept on the the little couch thing a few nights because they were so hard. Also my wife drinks decaf coffee and it took them 4 days to make them understand that she wanted Decaf in our room. If you go to the beach make sure you bring water shoes - it's very rocky. They do provide an hour's worth of snorkel equipment per day but I found the reef immediately offshore to be very murky and cloudy on the day we tried snorkeling. Your best bet is to get off resort as much as possible. Our three best days were spent doing the Extreme Talum (ruin and zipline) tour, Dolphin Discovery and spending part of 2 days in the town of Playa Del Carmen. Playa was great, lots of shopping and great restaurants (our 2 favorite meals and drinks of the trip!). Next time we'll stay closer to Playa and book in one of the many cool boutique hotels. Keep in mind when booking an all-inclusive that unless you stay at one of the 4 Diamond resorts you won't get really value for your money. You're get something that looks pretty good in pictures but will disappoint in the end (wallet and experience). More>

Great Customer service

Place it self could be compared to other hotel chains but customer service is incomparable. Samuel Chiu Chan delivered us the best customer service. From the day we got there to the day we left, never have I seen him with a frown on his face. Very professional and very courteous. Awesome food choices, clean facilities and outstanding service. Another person I want to thank for this experience is our chambermaid named "Alex". Found valuables on the floor and placed it on the desk with a note. Entertainment and activities was choreographed by amazing people as well. They will always ask you to join them. Cons - *rocky beach (some parts) * mosquitos * wild life * lobby's distance from rooms *really warm pool (main pool, other pools are fine) Pros *food *clean beaches *professional employees *sports and entertainment * tropical fishes could be seen at the rocky part of the beach More>

Don't give this place a second thought, just go

This resort was worth the wait!!! We stayed for a whole week and it felt like home, by the third day i was calling my room home. We stayed at building 12 and it was right in front of the pool and a 2 minute walk to the beach. I did have some minimal cons, the first one was that the pool closed at 8pm and the pool bars closed around 6-7 pm, it wasn't all that bad because it pushed you to enjoy the nightly show that was going on in the theater. My second con was the Mexican restaurant it is not worth it wasn't really authentic food, it was the same as the taco bar at the mall, but not as good. Don't get me wrong tho we also had the steak house ( i had the salmon) and all the food was perfect. Also we had the Brazilian steak house and it was wonderful but a lot of meat. The third con was the transportation, you had to call down and tell them you need a ride or you could wait and hope the have room or stop to pick u up. But if you ok with the walking you will be fine. My last and final con is that everything is marble and is slippery, you have to be extremely careful around the pool because you will fall, and extra careful in your building walking to your room. But I believe the pro out ways the con, its the biggest pool, and is centrally located in the rivera maya area, and is well worth the money you will spend. ALSO YOU MUST VIST OUR BUDDY LIONEL THE BARTENDER: HE MADE THE TRIP AWESOME AND SEALED IN ALL THE FUN WE HAD. ( p.s: Lionel if you are reading this you rock dude -with great love and respect the group with the guys who wanted to go to chilly willys ) More>
