We have been to Mexico a number of times, particularly in this area but this was our first time at this resort. It was absolutely spectacular. The food was great, the pool was out of this world and the beach was awesome. Don't let other negative reviews fools you - everything was great - Front desk service, concierge service, booking restaurants (we went to three and all were great) - all great and with smiles. Bartenders Javier, Lionel, Dimitri and others whose name I can't remember - you fellows are incredible. The only thing that was accurate in some of these other reviews is that the beds are a little on the hard side but I didn't go there to sleep in my room so this was a minor thing and no big deal. Entertainment was great - have to mention Pappi (I hope that's right!) Diego, Giovanni, and Lesly - what a great team! All in all, I highly recommend this place

This was our 2nd time at Iberostar, have stayed at man resorts in the area. Such a pleasant resort. Big enough to feel spread out but not so huge where you have to take a boat to breakfast! Staff was top notch, very friendly, especially the Starfriends Lilianna and Giovanni Also Diago was a bundle of energy and so friendly! Such fun! Shows were fun, little cheesy and predictable but exactly what you would expect. Food was average, some items were really great, others were mediocre. One disappointing thing was only being able to eat in the restaurants 2 nights for a week stay, seemed a little skimpy. Even though they had a rock cafe place, the food options were pretty limited. We traveled with Apple Vacations and flew Delta, always so smooth traveling with them. no problems or issues.

Beautiful resort, disappointing food.

The short review from an experienced all-inclusive traveler: great property, huge beach with lots of open chairs, snack hut, and drink service. The food- awful. Would I go again? Probably if I could get a great deal, but it wouldn't be my first choice. Check in: (after a hectic day of travel), Jose at the front desk was so incredibly helpful- great customer service. I jokingly mentioned I was ready for a margarita, and he picked up the phone and ordered 4 for us. They were brought to us within 5 minutes. The airline lost 3/4 of our bags, so some in my group were without a change of clothes and basic hygiene items. Jose went to the back and gave them each a t-shirt, comb, and some miscellaneous items to get them through the night. My husband and I (and his aunt and uncle we were traveling with) were supposed to have rooms with King beds. **Bed type is not guaranteed, it's based on availability. So technically we couldn't make this an issue.** They were not available the first night and we were informed we would have to switch the following day, not a huge deal. The Iberostar Club folks greet you after check in and want you to book your dinner reservations when you check in, we came down the next morning to do it since we were exhausted and wanted to plan our excursion days first. The next day when we went to switch rooms, the manager said the folks had extended their stay. In order to make up for this inconvenience, Jose gave us access to the spa (saunas, steam rooms, multiple jacuzzis/hot tubs, and an indoor saltwater pool). This definitely made up for the bed issue until we realized we had that access anyways because of our room type, haha. (We decided to just stay where we were because after 2 nights, it was easier than unpacking/repacking.) Rooms: We stayed in Superior Ocean Front rooms which are only located in building 10 (we had 1004 & 1008, perfect). We had a direct walkout to the beach- highly recommend it if you're coming to enjoy the sights and sounds of the ocean because it doesn't get any closer than this. The only reason you would not want this room is if you are not interested or able to routinely walk quite a distance. It's nearly 2/5's of a mile from building 10 to the lobby (using the straight road there- I'm sure it's longer if you wind through the middle paths), so it takes about 7-8 minutes at a normal pace with pool bags etc... There are carts that run on the main pathway that runs along the side of the buildings, however it's not always easy or convenient to track them down. They have covered stops for you to wait for a golf cart, we never had trouble getting one if we wanted one, but sometimes it was just as easy to hoof it. Note: the "Superior" rooms allow you to eat at as many a la carte restaurants as you'd like (based on availability), which is nice because regular rooms only get 3 a la carte dinners for a 7 night stay. Overall, pretty standard room in terms of all- inclusives. It was well maintained, the housekeeping did a great job. Our AC didn't work as well as we'd like, but we managed. If you like your room freezing, just an FYI- they are set to not go any lower than 21C. The beds were as you'd expect in Mexico, a little stiff, but not bad at all. There are no elevators. Low building numbers= closest to the beach. High building numbers= closest to the lobby. The property is absolutely beautiful and well maintained. There is plenty of wildlife to look at; coati will walk right up to you, swans, macaw's, flamingos, peacocks, and cats. The pool is great. Big enough to enjoy peace and quiet or go where the entertainment is, a little area for everyone. It was FREEZING while we were there and we only got in once. As big as the pool was, it was surprisingly difficult to find 4 chairs together, so we spent more time on the beach. LOVE the ice cream hut, you have to get the coconut ice cream of course. The beach is huge and there is always a palapa open. There is an awesome food hut that has hamburgers, hot dogs, french fries, etc... right on the beach. So you don't have to trek through the whole resort to grab a snack or margarita. A couple cool features of this resort- there are technically 5 resorts on the property. The Del Mar, Beach, Maya, Lindo, and The Grand (diamond resort, adult only). The Del Mar is apparently low end on the totem pole, but you'd never know the difference with the exception of The Grand- and breakfast there was just as bad, it just looked fancier. There is a shopping center on the resort- it's within walking distance. There is a coffee shop, taco and crepe shop, and some souvenir + jewelry shops. The spa is also located over here. It was a nice little getaway without actually going anywhere. You'll get used to walking 10,000 steps/day really quick here. Food. Terrible. I mean, awful. The biggest downfall of this resort. I was sadly unimpressed. Some of it was inedible- and I am far from a picky eater. Teppanyaki/Japanese: Best meal we had the whole week. The chefs are awesome and put on a great show, and the food was great. Brazilian: The meat was great, but the sides were terrible. Mediterranean: My husband and uncles steaks were raw. I mean raw. Mine was cooked great, but all of our lobster was rubber. We ended up leaving and going to the buffet for junk nachos, if that's any indication. Buffet: Meh. I could get better in a school cafeteria. The best food on the whole resort aside from the Japanese is the Rock Cafe right off the lobby. It's never busy, doesn't require reservations, and is apparently run separate from the main resort restaurants. We were really sad we didn't discover it earlier in the week. The staff in the restaurants all work incredibly hard and do a great job. Service was never an issue and I'd even say above average. I was extremely disappointed that such a well-known resort chain had such terrible food. Our Apple reps at the hotel; Hugo & Raul were awesome. Julia with The Club and the manager Jose were great as well. Thanks guys!

Spent two nights here before we bought into the Iberostar Club and they moved us to the Grand. (review to come) The rooms were average and in much need of renovation. Lampshades were discolored and there is not liquor in the mini bar. (just beer) The dinner in the buffet was cold and just average. Breakfast was a little better but I expected more. The best part is the beach and pool but you'll have a heck of a time getting a drink. I had to wait at the pool bar for over 20 minutes to get waited on. Here is the rub, we signed up to tour the grand and ended up moving to the better hotel. The two are no comparison. This place is probably good for young families as the pool is very large with lots of space. Like I said just average.

This was our first experience staying at an all inclusive and staying in Mexico. We have been avid cruise people for thirty years. We loved the hotel, grounds and amenities. We were told it was booked solid. It never felt crowded and never a line for anything. The buffets were exceptional and the Brazilian restaurant was fabulous. We felt very safe the entire time. We had a ocean view suite, it was very large. Everyone was very helpful and personable. Looking forward to going back. Great balcony on our second floor room.
