We booked a 7 night all inclusive at the del Mar . We upgraded when we booked to be cloer to the pool and beach. When we arrived our room was not anywhere near the beach and the pool which was the closest was under construction with giant tarps coveringit. This was our 3rd stay at an iberostar hotel in the past year so we were not new to them . I was offered an upgrade to either the Lindo or Maya at a cost. Lindo 404 per night per night or maya 100 per ngiht. We had stayed at the Maya in November and actually had our daughters wedding there in November. After the extra $700 that we paid we were happy with the accommodations. One thing was different this time, the harrasement to join the club was twice daily. We stopped walking through the lobby just so we could avoid this. Other than that we were able to enjoy ourselves. Apple flight and transfers were great.

Apple Excursion Representative Not Very Informative ~ Very Dissatisfied with Excursion
GABRIEL T.
Mar 08 2019
At the Iberostar Paraiso Beach, Sostenos, the Apple Representative, assisted us with booking an excursion with Cancun Adventures for Saturday, March 2, 2019, which included a Catamaran ride, Snorkeling and Isla Mujeres excursion, which turned into a very big disappointment. 1. Sostenos did not have accurate details regarding the excursion, nor, was he knowledgeable about the current events on Isla Mujeres. 2. We were told it was a 5 ½ hour event which turned into 8 hours – we were not told about the shuttle ride which was over 1 hr. each way picking up additional people. 3. The snorkeling location was very poor – there were very few fish some coral and statues. I was not very impressive for 20 minutes of snorkeling. The paddle boarding stop by the beach was a waste of 30 minutes because 2 people out of 30 went paddle boarding when we could have spent more time on the island. 4. On Isla Mujeres, we were allotted a 2 hour time limit, where we were hoping to rent a golf cart for about $10.00 (according to the Apple representative), but, we were never told we needed a driver’s license which canceled the golf carts out. Also, the price was actually $25.00 and up – Nor were we told that the Carnival celebration was occurring and the place was very over crowded with people, golf carts and cars. It was too busy for our expectations. I have been to the Island before and normally it is very relaxing and not as hectic. We were very overwhelmed with the crowds, cars and vendors. Our excursion to Isla Mujeres was a total bubble burster for us. We would have never gone had we known about the Carnival on Isla Mujeres. Isla Mujeres is just not as relaxing as it used to be, which is very sad to see. Also, it appears to be a bit run down and has many cars instead of just golf carts on the island now. On Sunday, we talked to Sostenos about our disappointment with the excursion, and he said he would talk to the manager and compensate us on Monday morning before we left to return home. But, due to the office being closed on Sunday, we were not compensated when we were leaving. I believe we should be compensated financially for the mis-direction of the Apple Representative for at least half of our USD $179.77 spent for this excursion. Please contact me directly to discuss this issue.

Good hotel overall and would go back for the right price. Did not get a king bed which we had asked for. They do rip you off for sun screen. USD$27. They did not replace the body lotion or hair conditioner and there was no face cloth either. Staff were great so friendly, our best experience in 4 Mexican trips. Wild life in the resort was great to watch and nice to see they were cared for.

There were 4 of us ladies, all over 70 years old. We requested 2 rooms, garden level, close to each other, they gave us rooms in different buildings, then they gave us rooms in the same building but one room had only one bed, we requested 2 beds in each room. We went back to change it. By that time it was 4 pm, all restaurants/buffet were closed and we were hungry, we traveled since 3 am. The fountains around the hotel don't have barriers and the floors are so slippery, one lady fell twice into it, hurt herself, broke 3 ribs and she is all black and blue. The floors are so slippery everywhere that one person fell in the bathroom. I asked if there is a doctor on premises and they said he is charging $150 per visit. Floors look beautiful but dangerous. Entertainment was so loud that it was not enjoyable to listen to.

Excellent staff, excellent facilities, and great option for family with young kids

We stayed at the resort for a week during March break 2019, and I have to say that the resort exceeded our expectations in every way. The staff, especially our concierge Jorge Garcia, was excellent throughout the trip. He made us feel welcomed, showed us the facilities, gave us advise, and was friendly and courteous. My kids actually wanted to go see him every day to say hello, and missed him when we said goodbye. Another point to highlight was the StarCamp, which was a kids-centric facility designed for kids. The staff there were great, designing activities for the kids, and even had a show every night for the kids where they get to show off their talent to the audience on the main stage. Aranza, who I am assuming heads the StarCamp, was phenomenal. She is always enthusiastic, always energetic. The facilities were great, the activities were great, and I have to say that I can easily stay another week just inside the resort without being bored. My wife joined the beach samba, and enjoyed every minute of it. The pool was enormous and the kids couldn't get out of the place. Finally, I have to talk about how clean the place is. Someone is always cleaning and tidying up the place. I would say that I would highly recommend the resort, and is already planning our next vacation with Iberostar in mind.

We stayed from march 7th to 14th and it was fantastic. The check in was fast and friendly with a super nice lady named Gracia so nice and very helpful. The bellmen Joe and Carlos are just sooo nice they couldn't do enough for you. The lush tropical grounds are a spectacle for the eye so beautiful and well maintained. The pool and beach areas are kept in tip top condition and lots of wildlife moving freely around the grounds. The entertainment team was so incredible at making the vacation fun, highest compliments to Lilliana {the crazy girl} Giovanni,Raul way to go you guys. When it comes to the food wow!!! the a la carte restaurants were terrific and the buffets had lots of great choices.special mention to waiters Faustino and Samuel. The house keeping team did an excellent job we felt they were on top of everything that was needed. Now i saved the best for last. We have never been treated like a part of the family at any resort before but Jose the public relations manager went so far over what would be expected. You can tell he is proud of his company and the resort he has a genuine concern for his guests to insure they are satisfied .When we spoke with him we didnt just hear him talking we felt his passion. WAY TO GO DELMAR TEAM !!!! for sure i will send my friends and family and we for sure will be back!!!

Vacation at Iberstar Paraiso Del Mar
Tom W,
Mon Mar 18 16:37:31 EDT 2019
WE vacationed at the Paraiso Del Mar between Feb 27 and Mar 6, 2019. This was our first stay at this resort and our second visit to Playa Del Carmen area.. The Paraiso Del Mar is one of several resorts located on the Iberostar property. The Iberostar property is huge but segmented so that it was easy to get around. We had a room in building 16 which was centrally located between the most or the restaurants /lobby and the beach. While a pretty good walk from one end to the other, the hotel had carts running frequently along an access road that you could wave down for a ride. The hotel has a massive pool. It was not possible to see from one end to the other since it twists and turns from one to the other. There were plenty palapas and chairs along both sides of the pool and finding a chair was not a problem. At the end on the pool closest to the beach was an activity pool with games, music, swim up bar and ice cream stand. The ice cream was very good and a big hit in the warm afternoons, My wife and I area big beach fans so we spent most of our time at the beach where it was also much quieter. On the beach was a great deal of grass/seaweed. The resort used a large tractor and seaweed remover that ran frequently picking up what they could but it build up again in no time. The beach had several places where it was easy to get in the water but there were also several areas where coral/rocks made it a little more difficult. There were plenty of palaps and chairs on the beach as well. We had no problem getting a good spot if we looked before 9am. Otherwise they filled up quickly. The beach was good for walking and there was plenty of room. There was only one bar on the beach that served the Del Mar and Maya rooms. It would have been nice if there was one for each but the drinks were good and I never waited long for service. The food was very good in general. Besides the main buffet, we at at the Mexican, Japanese, Brazilian and Mediterranean specialty restaurants. The Japanese and Mexican restaurants were excellent. The Brazilian was good but way too much food for us. The Main Buffet was always set with plenty of tasty items to choose from. Our one disappointment was the Mediterranean restaurant. Everything we tried including the main dish was bland. Absolutely nothing had any seasoning on it. It was so bad we got up and left early. Very disappointing. Our room was so typical of Iberostar in design. We have staye at many of their resorts and the room layout and materials use were very typical. It was always well cleaned and in very good condition. My one complaint was not being able to set the air conditioning fan to manual so it would run all night. It would stop running when the room cooled down and the absence of "white noise" would disturb our sleep. Otherwise the AC worked well. The staff was exceptionally friendly with great service unlike some reviews I read before leaving. Given the chance I would return again.

Hello, I am from Canada, and spent a week here for march break with my family. The Del mar staff at Iberostar was amazing. They made sure we will pleased all week. They went above and beyond to keep us Happy. A special thank you to Jorge from the Cigar Bar, Joe , the Bell Boy, Eulojio that drove us when we got lost from one of the restaurants. Without these men going doing beyond what their job description is...., made our decision to return to this hotel for Christmas break. Thank you to all, Best, Amy

Overall everything was superb. The grounds were impeccable and maintained very well. It was odd that there were a lot of people at the resort during our March Break, but it never really felt crowded. The food was of great quality but it would have been nice to have the Steak and Italian restaurants some place other than the regular buffet's. The Japanese Restaurant was our favourite. We booked a snorkeling excursion through their onsite shop - Dressel Divers. It was a 1/2 day trip to Puerto Morales which we booked through Manny, and our group of 23 had a blast. We were told the boat could hold 35 but I wouldn't recommend having that many as it would have been too crowded. They were kind enough to entertain our request to have some specific Beer as part of our Trip, and even though we ran into some issues obtaining the Photos we purchased, Manny made sure we were taken care of. Thanks!
