EXCELLENT STAY

Stayed at IBEROSTAR Paraiso Del Mar from 8-24 to 8-30 and I must say it was nice, the staff, food, drinks and entertainment was awesome. The hotel grounds were very beautiful. I’ve traveled to many islands, but never stayed at hotel as big as IBEROSTAR Paraiso Del Mar, 4 hotels in one. Love it!!! Jesus the concierge was very nice and helpful, he helped me from the time I got there until the time I left. I would stay here again and would recommend anyone who’s visiting Riviera Maya to stay here, you won’t go wrong!!! I would also recommend doing zip lining, if you like being Adventurous

Scammed! Bait & switch! Please read and take note.

We are still here and it is a very nice resort.... BUT, we were taken advantage of by this resorts spa services. My fiancée (Jacqueline) and her friend were relaxing poolside when I joined them. I was asked to watch their belongings as they were offered a deal for a one hour massage for $50 U.S. each. They went to the massage area, by the pool, for their massage. When they walked in they both RECONFIRMED TWICE that the price was $100 U.S. total and the staff agreed both times. Once both massages were completed the billing slip was made (billed to our room) for 2400 Pesos ($136 US). Jacky wrote in the US $ spot $100 and signed for it. When she was given her copy back she noticed the spa employee had scratched out the $100 US. They both left and rejoined me and, at that time, did the conversion. They were both livid and went to the concierge to file a complaint. The appropriate person wasn't available but they would be contacted. The appropriate person did contact them and they were told the complaint would be investigated. Jacky & our friend even reminded them that a massage on the beach was $55 US (why would they choose a massage that was $25 US more expensive???) but were told that they weren't Iberostar employees even though it has the Iberostar sign and the staff are wearing Iberostar shirts and had Iberostar nametags. Later, they were told that they would be meeting with the Manager/Concierge/the two spa employees. The resort, after he said/she said, said they would give them a reduced price of 2127 pesos ($120 US). How generous of them to still scam them after a "bait & switch". Long story short... it doesn't matter how careful and diligent you can be to make sure that you are charged properly, Iberostar will still SCAM you out of your money. Don't use their extra services as we have found out the expensive way!

Terrible customer service!

Maid service terrible! No towels, no coffee, not even ice on our floor, no elevators, a/c set so you couldn't lower the temperature - never got cold. Marble floors everywhere that were extremely slippery. Very dirty beach with seaweed & debris. Transportation to buffet & lobby terrible! Had to call over & over to get someone to come to get us, 20-30 wait. Pools filled with cups, bugs & cigarette butts! Over priced resort. Will NOT be back!

Traveled 9/2-9/9 with my wife.(58&60) We have traveled to Punta Cana & Mexico to all inclusive for about 12 yrs.Immigration was fairly quick. Do not lose bottom of card they give you. You need it when you leave. Bus ride about 45 mins because we had to stop at 3 other resorts. Going back to airport about 20 mins didnt stop for anybody else Check in went smooth. Got our reservations to the restaurants right after check in no problem getting what we wanted.Concierge were very helpful. Room was in building 15 right in middle of resort. 1st floor could see pool and one of the pool bars. It was about 1/4 mile to beach or to main lobby. Not a bad walk. You go path through jungle area or back road where shuttle was. Shuttle service was hit or miss. Room was nice bed and pillows a little firm for me. My wife was ok with it. No problem with maid cleaning room or frig restocked. Left $2 tip each day.If we needed extra water, beer, or soda we just left note for maid and she took care of it.Room thermostat set at 22 the lowest it would go. Just called to have them lower it to 18. Didnt help much room didnt get really cool till early morning but with air on and fan running not to bad. Beach or pool chairs never a problem unless you want front row at beach get there by 830/900. Water was crystal clear and smooth as glass when we were there.Could see your feet the whole time.Just lucky i guess. No seaweed at all. Just depends on if any storms around or time of year. Ate at Brazilian (good but some meats not hot enough or not done enough to my likings.) Mediterranean (Ok Had steak -done good. Lobster a little gritty and not much taste) Japanese very good no complaints. Buffet breakfasts were good nice selection. Main one more, one by beach a little less. Buffet lunch by beach had nice selection. Didnt go to main buffet for lunch. Buffet for dinner was hit or miss. Few different items each night depending on what you like. Some things could be a little hotter. Did see food inspector two different times checking thinks out. Sports bar very nice area and very good food. Staff( Joel) was the best on the resort i thought. Ate there one night(just walk in). Also would go to after eating for drinks and sit in ac. Quite and not to many people. Great place. Grill at beach was also nice place to get lunch( burgers, dogs, chips & salsa, rice, fries, some days chicken or beef.) Just watch out for coati they will steal your food. Not there everyday. Shopping center has a nice taco place, coffee bar, ice cream place, candy place, bar also all inculded. Alcohol was not a problem had top brands just ask for it and they will put it in you drinks. Amounts no problem just ask for more or less what ever your taste. Soda used in drinks taste watered down. Beer is on tap and is light or dark Dos Equis pretty good. Del mar Resort is on one side of pool Beach Resort on other. Two different lobbies and main buffet(some nights only dinner buffet open) but share restaurants and theater. Shows at night a little corny but i have seen ones like this at other resorts. No local live entertainment in lobby at night ,would be nice.(just a dj) Staff was ok. Pool didnt seem very clean. Pool wait staff hit or miss. Could clean up a little better(empty glasses and garbage around pool better). Pool bars get busy in afternoons when people come up from beach. Weekends bad when local people come in. Can get loud and a few drunks.Walking in jungle area is very dark. Better on back road or use shuttle.Did not tip everytime at bars, still got good service. Bus to Playa Del Carmen is $5 each way. Different times to go and come back. Vendors in town can be very pushy .But if you need souvenir good place to go. Remember to barter price. Had vendors on resort one night, at beach every day walking by. Over all nice resort could use some changes and updating. Would go back. Prefer Punta Cana

This was the second time that we had stayed at this particular Iberostar resort (the first time being at the Paraiso side). First class all the way. The room was very good. This is by far the most accessible resort we've been to. There are ramps and walkways all along the beach allowing for vacationers with disabilities to easily enjoy the entire place. The only exception was that the building don't have elevators - BUT the hotel places you on the ground floor if you have access issues. The food was fabulous at the buffets and the a la carte restaurants were delicious - specially the Mexican and the Brazilian. The wait staff treated us fantastic. Our server for breakfasts and lunches at the buffet restaurant near the beach remembered us from our first visit there the year before. His name is Jacinta!! Ask for him by name - you aren't likely to regret it! (I know that some resort workers say they remember someone from a previous visit, but he actually recalled details about my particular food allergies). The Star Friends made the experience incredibly fun without being pushy or overly insistent on participation. The whole team (Lalo, Sexy Papi, Karla, Lupita, Giovani, Liliana, Miguel, Alonso, Cesar, and the newest member who had her first day at work while we were there, Graciella) were so much fun and they always had something going on somewhere either at the beach or by the pools.
