The Resort did live up to my expectations. Breezes has a good reputation and maybe the other Breezes live up to it. This one did not. The food was boring at best. There was not much to do there at night. The spa is the best thing they have. The water sports were good. I will not return to Curacao a .. More>

"SUPER CLUB" my behind. This was the worst resort we have been to in the past seven(7) years of going to the Caribbean. Not much selection for food. Bar service was horrendous. and they would only use 5oz plastic cups, so you had to order 4-5 at a time just to make it worth going back to your table .. More>

Good resort - Great Scuba Diving

Despite all the reviews saying this resort is not a great place to go, it's not like they describe. Breezes is one of the few resorts on the island. It's strong point isn't an expansive white sand beach (but the beach is wonderful), or the most luxurious and modern facilities, but where it is. Curacao is an amazing place and you can definitely explore the island from Breezes resort. The public bus runs right in front of the resort and takes you to the heart of downtown Willemstad, a UNESCO world heritage site with colourful dutch style colonial buildings and great shopping, in just a couple of minutes. The scuba diving is excellent from just off the break-wall at the resort. We saw dozens of species of fish and a healthy lush coral reef at a depth of 20-60 feet. No need to go deeper than that to see spectacular Carribean aquatic life. We did all our diving with the Dive Bus, not the resort's dive provider, because of a family recommendation, you can get to them by walking out of the lobby and turning right, or wading around the resort wall on the far end of the beach and crossing the road. They are right next door. We booked a two-dive boat dive with them to take us to another part of the island, but did most of our dives just off of the resort breakwall. Some friends on the trip who are more experienced divers rented a van to get all over the island do new dive sites. If you aren't a diver, the resort has beautiful pools and a great beach to lounge by. Bring your water-shoes to go swimming as it's a little rocky a few feet out. The food was good, if not a little bland to suit all tastes. They could maybe incorporate more local fare into the menu. If you are travelling with friends, get everyone to make reservations at the restaurants for more than just the 2 people in their room and then you can join them on their reservation and attend the restaurants more and the buffet less. The Japanese and Italian had great food, while the BBQ had nice sunsets and atmosphere. The rooms are a little dated and in need of minor repairs but clean, cool, and well attended by the cleaning staff. We were in the tower, but on the far side from the resort and at the opposite end to the Disco and it was very quiet and comfy. The room was huge (larger than an ocean-view in another building) and would be good for a family with kids. The only real trouble we had on the entire trip was that we couldn't find a bureau de change to exchange Canadian money for Guilders despite the fact that the travel agent said that they would. DO NOT fly Thomas Cook airlines. They changed the times of the flights to awful hours after we had already paid fully, were late departing due to airplane repairs. On the way home the stewardess would not stop making loud announcements every 20 min despite it being a midnight to 5am flight. Pay a bit extra and take Air Canada or Continental.

Can't Beat It - Kids-Family & Couples Vacation All in One!

We just returned from a weeks vacation with our two children and we travelled with friends and their two children and we had the best time! I can't imagine for the cost of this trip to have found a better vacation that provided ample fun for the kids, family and adults all at the same time. The Breezes kids club caters to your children when they are out of your care. They take them all day or any part of the day you want. They will feed them and entertain them while the grown-ups enjoy some solitude, or activities on their own. The staff are awesome, planning activities based on what the kids feel like doing as well as offering many planned activities. Our kids enjoyed basics like swimming, crafts & games, however the highlights were the trip to the Sea Aquarium, learning Trapeze, sailing on the Hobiecat, Rockclimbing, Kayaking, Disco Dance parties, movie nights, and the evening shows. Rose, Marvette, Roxi, Giselle, Margaret and Tearson were fabulous and the kids miss them already. After hours childcare with Rose allowed us the freedom to enjoy dinner reservations and evening activities knowing our children were well cared for and attended in our room. She is a grandmother of 7 and loves being with children. Our 8 year old can't stop talking about her adventures on the Trapeze. The trainers Omar, Jason & Emmanuel were fabulous instructors that helped her learn the basic skills, how to do a catch, and the plunge. The highlight of her week was being in the Breezes Circus show. The bar and restaurant staff were always pleasant and willing to help out. The buffet foods were more than satisfactory although the al a carte restaurants were our favourites. Make sure to get reservations for all of them! If you are interested in Scuba Diving and are not certified, definitely take the class in the pool and enjoy your first dive off the beac with an instructor. My husband absolutely loved it and is now hooked and wants to get his PADI. If you are certified, you can go out everyday! The watersports, kayaks, waterbikes, hobbiecats, windsurfing and snorkelling is so much fun. It's amazing how much sealife you can see in the water here. I am not much of a swimmer and there was plenty of fish even in the shallow water and even more out to to the rock barrier. The entertainment staff keep things fun with trivia, music, contests, sumo wrestling and bouncy boxing were a great laugh. There is music and entertainment on the pool deck nightly and then the disco opens at 11:00. If you are wanting late night action this is not the place to find it, however there are many clubs in the area you could go to. If you have children you probably don't want to be near the action by "The Tower" as there is evening noise. We stayed in "The Pelican" which overlooks the volleyball and beach bar area, with a balcony view of the ocean. This resort is older and the rooms are aging however very clean and comfortable. I would say the rooms are only a 3* if that is an issue for you. Really the beds were comfy and that's all the time you spend in your room. There is a flat screen TV with an english kids channel if needed. All in all, loved it here and would definitely like to go back. Breezes more than met our needs. The fact that our children were so entertained that we could enjoy romantic couple time was worth every penny. It was the perfect family vacation. The island of Curacao is friendly, safe and beautiful and we will miss our time there. The McGowans Waterloo, ON, Canada
