Excellent Kids Club!!

The kids club is awesome. They have a great pool with cool slides outside of the club. Inside they have a beautiful club with AC, toys, video games, movies and snacks. Anairis aka Minnie is amazing with the kids, she treats them as if they are her own. she is invested in all of the activities and greets them when she sees them around the resort. You can tell that she loves her job and most of all the children.

The good, the bad, and the ugly.

I'd like to think I'm subjective in my reviews, but I disliked this resort more than any other place I've been to in the last 10 years. It's not all bad, and plenty of people will have good experiences so let me explain why in hopes that you don't get stuck in our situation. Trip Reason: I didn't book this place, I came here for a wedding so I had no choice. Rooms: ------- They have villas and then there's the motel section. Yes, MOTEL. This hotel itself is very large, google the actual map of the resort, it's probably not what you'd expect. If you're too far to the beach or the shore you'll have to take a gas powered trolley which isn't enjoyable. Looking at the back of the map you'll see a U shaped building behind the lobby pool. It's a two story motel. It's OLD... It's musty... It's TERRIBLE!!!! We were thrown into here... I looked up the reviews and expected one of their nice villas, but our whole wedding party was in these terrible suites. There was never mention of this or pictures of these rooms online. Our friends were upgraded to a suite (because their A/C unit fell through the ceiling) and the villas are beautiful. If you're in one of those, you will thoroughly enjoy it, just make sure you get one that's somewhere near the middle to avoid needing the trolley. Our room had a leaking roof, it was fixed somewhat, but the room was so incredibly damp.. clothing was always wet feeling, pieces of paper we brought in would be soft, and the sheets were always uncomfortable. The bed sheets did not actually fit the beds, the didn't cover the whole bed. I have no words for this. Lastly, I want to stress this. I realized the coffee cups in each room are not replaced once you use them, they are wiped with a rag for you to re-use. I realized a few days in the small black imperfection in my cup was still in the cup, and then again. That's disgusting. Food: ------- We have one night at the buffet where it was FANTASTIC. But there were some gross ones too. For breakfast go to the omelette guy and have him make you scrambled eggs instead of the gross ones they have out at the buffet. There were a couple of so/so reservation places for dinners. (Note: good luck booking dinner after 7pm if you aren't paying for the upgraded class at the resort). The night time food was burgers/hot dogs/fried chicken at the beach. Decent late night binge food. You can't drink the water there, and I don't think everything is cleaned properly, but there's no way of knowing what to avoid or not. I've never had travellers stomach on a trip until this trip. I was stomach sick quite a bit, and about 50% of the people in the wedding party also were sick. It really put a hamper on things of course. Go somewhere like Jamaica where you don't have to worry about water contamination concerns. It's like this all over Dominican. Gross. Beach/Pools: ----------------- Beautiful beach. Not over crowded, decent chairs, they clean it daily. It's not the best set-up on the beach, I walked to some of the hotels beside us, and wow. But I really enjoyed the beach, the water was clear and warm, and the bar was accessible and the lunch buffet is right there too. Two pools, the one by the lobby is quiet, has a small bar beside it and a great place to relax. The main pool near the beach has the water bar, is most likely full of piss, and loud with entertainment. We still enjoyed both but liked the quiet pool the most if we weren't at the beach. WiFi: ------- Get the WiFi Hotspots when you check in at the front desk. They are a few $ per day and highly worth it. The WiFi in the lobby always disconnects and is slow. It's most likely like this in order to sell the WiFi units, but I'd buy it regardless, you can use it anywhere, it's a portable cellular device, so you can take it to the beach, your room, on an excursion and it'll be a lot cheaper than a data plan with your provide. Especially for two or more people, as you can connect multiple devices to them. We didn't know about them until our last few days. People: ---------- Locals, or resort workers and family must use the resort when they aren't working. The quiet pool, as I mentioned, was often full of locals. The staff were nice, but many didn't speak english. This was a challenge. I wasn't impressed with house keepings cleaning. Apparently the couple getting married had some challenges with the wedding plans and bookings, but I can't speak to it, because it wasn't my experience. Disco/Casino: ------------------- You have to walk past the front gate to get into this place. So locals can come here as well and do. Also prostitutes fill up the disco and are very aggressive. No one returned to the disco after the first night (Clearly). You can smoke in the disco/casino which I guess I'm not use to. You have to pay for drinks here, even when gambling. We had one friend take home just under 1k USD from the Casino over the course of a few days of blackjack so don't think that the place isn't legit, it is. That's about all I can think of, I've been home for about a month now. I certainly would not return, but take everything as a grain of salt. If I didn't get sick from the food I'd probably have enjoyed it more. If we weren't in the terrible motel section I certainly would have enjoyed it more. I think you can have a great experience here, we just didn't and I hope I help someone dodge that motel section by writing this review. kthxbai.

Great Resort

It is a very beautiful, well maintained resort. Main lobby needs updating. It's an old resort but renovated. I would love to give 5 star review for this resort but I will give 4.5 because of the main area not renovated. The official staff and workers go extra mile in this resort to help you. No wonder they have got the certificate of excellence. If you are looking for a bling-bling modern top notch resort, this is NOT for you. This is a very simple clean and well maintained resort. I would not hesitate to come back to this resort at an time. I got free upgrade from junior suite to the bungalows close to beach. I have bin to many resorts in the past, this is one of the best room I ever saw in Punta Cana. It was a large bungalow-flat with living room area and jacuzzie and renovated bathrooms and All. Spacious balcony to relax. Courtesy shuttle is always running to save u the walk. I am a business person and I always like to have Internet where ever I go. Internet wifi is a secret which no one usually tells you. I read from a previous review. You can rent a Internet wifi device from lobby for $5 per day and a $50 deposit. It's a very small device, half the size of an iPhone. You can carry around in the beach, all over and it's a high speed Internet-unlimited. You can attach as many devices you like. This was very helpful to me. Beach quality is amazing with beach bar and restaurant. Well maintained beach with every day activities. I was not too impressed with the pool but people were enjoying. I loved the quality of the food. Lobsters and crab legs, shrimps, oysters, mussels and different kind of fishes. I love sea food and this place was the best. I felt that the variety of the food and deserts was not a lot but it was satisfactory. For party - nightlife - club scene - disco This resort has it all. They have a combined disco for 3 resorts. And there is a 2nd disco in the Casino which is outside the resort which caters local people. No cover charge for both discos, free entry and you can get 2 drinks for free. Location is great. You can walk outside the resort to local bars and night clubs. Don't need a taxi. Lots of locals try to sell you there products, but it's every where. It's safe and lots of security. BE CAREFUL: do not wear expensive jewelry when you go outside resort. Things could happen. There is good and bad in every country.

Great Resort!

It is a beautiful resort, we stayed at the 350s it is very close to the beach, pool and restaurants. I was a bit worried about the resort and wifi from the previous comments. But everything worked out so well! We rented a portable WiFi for 6 days so we can get online anywhere! Even when we went on excursions! But the free wifi in the lobby worked very well as well! I like the bungalow suite very much, I feel this is the Caribbean style of living! If you are looking for regular hotel kinds of rooms, this is not for you. The buffet food was ok, but the A La Carte restaurants are nice. Overall I like this resort very much and will definitely recommend it ! The only thing is that my friend lost his cellphone on the beach, still can't find it :(

My husband and I arrived on the 22rd Sep and stayed for 8 days. We ended up arriving a day early, and had purchased the Platinum Package for the 7 nights, we added the extra day at the last minute, they were great about helping out. Every employee there was more then gracious. We had friends that were at the Carribe, each time we want to go they picked us up, both ways. Edgar at the Platinum lounge and the Jose Alt was part of the concierge service both were incredible. Our daughter joined us the for part of the week, they made sure we were in rooms close to each other. The platinum upgrade was more then worth it. The temperature was very very very hot, and humid. So be prepared however laying on the beach with a breeze not so bad. We enjoyed the food, some was better then others, but always could find something we enjoyed. The drinks were great, loved the caipirinha drink, muddled lime and special rum. This a huge resort, we were in platinum 797 it was a 150 feet or so from the beach and across from the platinum lounge, very convenient.
