We had a large group of 20 people. We stayed for a week . Overall , it was average. The hotel rooms were decent . The general lobby, pools were also ok. Everything was open , and not air conditioned . So it was very hot and humid in the lobby . Most lobbies in resorts are by the beach so it is breezy. However, this lobby was not. So most evenings were very humid , and the fans did not really give much of a breeze . The restaurants were also average . The food was quite bland in most restaurants . I felt that the food in the buffet was just as good as the a la carte restaurants . The pool was very nice . The drinks , again , average . The wifi was only in the lobby , and even that was not great . Overall , average resort. The service was probably the best part. The waiters, etc were actually very attentive and helpful . We found the sales people for time shares very annoying as they harassed us a lot in the lobby area . They stood outside the buffet restaurant all the time and were quite rude at times when we declined to listen to their sales pitch.

Not bad!

Travelled to this resort with my parents. Beach is lovely, nice and quiet, except there is the addition of added loud music from the entrainment, the same as around the pool areas; of this isn't your thing, then this resort isn't for you. The beach also has a lot of seaweed which isn't cleared daily like many other resorts in Punta Cana which I've visited. The rooms are tired, but kept to a high standard of cleanliness for what they are. Water pressure on showers aren't amazing, but not the worst I've experienced. The hotel has a lot of trees and tropical scenery which is nice, but in my opinion is to far spread out. They do offer a free "taxi" service around the perimeter of the hotel; but this is often full. The humidity can get to you around the entertainment and lobby bar, if you struggle with the heat, this hotel really isn't for you. The lobby and entertainment area gets next to no breeze, due to its proximity from the beach area, and how sheltered it is. The hotel offers WIFI however this is done for $5 per day + $50 deposit. The wifi is poor. The hotel does offers 4G reception devices as WIFI which do not work well at the best of times, leaving FaceTime as a thing of the past as it struggles to maintain a decent signal anywhere in the hotel - not a downside, just a side note to think about if you wish to retain contact back home. The hotel also only offer 2 bottles of water per day to each room, and charge $2 for additional bottles - which I find appalling for a supposed 5* hotel!!! They will also charge for additional tea, coffee and minibar items. They only use house drinks, brands are charged at a premium. In summary, the hotel is tired, and I'm desperate need of a refurbishment , and in my eyes, not worth the money they charge. The infrastructure needs upgrading to bring it in line with other hotels. I'm appalled at how any hotel has the audacity to charge for an "all inclusive" minibar, but most of all water. The food is delightful, even in the buffet restaurants, however one of the A la carte restaurants is chargeable, in addition to the cafe/restaurant on the beach! (Which they won't tell you till they bring you the bill) There are A LOT more sales people trying to sell you things and excursion in the hotel to much hotels which are endorsed by the hotel. Staff are very friendly.

Nice but not great

We may have had high expectations for this resort but unfortunately they were not met. The beach is the best part of this resort. The water is great and the sand is clean with no rocks. The staff is friendly and very helpful. We upgraded to Platinum and would highly recommend it. This gives you access to the private beach with more comfortable accommodations with a private bar. You also have access to a concierge that can make reservations to the restaurants for you, rather than waiting for a spot. The negatives were the mosquitoes. The rooms had gaps in the doors and nothing was done to remediate the mosquitoes from getting into the rooms. We had several requests for additional towels or other amenities and it look way to long for someone to arrive, sometimes over an hour. The food was good but everyone in our family had stomach trouble by the end of our trip. What I did hate were things like, lose your beach towel; pay $20, wrist bracelet falls off; pay $47, lost dinner coupon, your SOL. This isn't behaviour of a 5 star resort, this is what you expect from Motel 6. The shows were also mediocre, the animation staff was great for the pool but evening production quality was gravely lacking. With regards to the pool, expect more of a party crowd rather than a laid back environment. One other thing to consider which really angered me was the currency exchange booth. Every hotel I've ever been to will exchange guests currency for just about the exchange rate. This hotel had an exchange booth that exchange dollars for pesos at a rate of 65 to 1 when the rate was 47 to 1. A major rip-off and another way this hotell was taking advantage of their customers.
