Great resort but miserable staff!

Pros: beautiful and clean beach, clean resort, pools are clean as well, maid service is excellent you are never missing anything, and suites are very nice. Cons: beach drink service was horrible unless you are being served by Claudio, my boyfriend and I ordered drinks a number of times and never got them. The staff, for the most part with exception of a few were very unpleasant and miserable. Also, animation was very repetitive. However, I would definitely recommend this resort as the cons are things you could live without!! Overall very happy with my stay at this resort!! More>

We visted the the Bavaro Princess All Suites Resort Sat June 4 - 11, 2016. We did NOT do platinum, b/c it was going to add about $2K to our package (8 days, two adults and two kids)... if you can get it for a deal when you book, it may be worth it, but honestly we were treated so well, I can't see why I'd pay that much more for it. When we pulled up to the hotel, we were pleasantly surprised at how pretty the property was, and the wildlife that is right up front. They unloaded our luggage and Mr. "Love" (can't remember his first name) swiftly took us up to check in, had fruity drinks brought to us, and got us our room very close to the pool/beach area. Kudos to a very easy check in experience! Next we took the shuttle to our room and our luggage showed up just a few minutes later. The room was already set up so that each of the kids had their own twin rollaway bed and we had the main king. I believe all of the rooms are the same set up, even in platinum... for being in the harsh beach weather, they do a great job of maintaining the buildings, landscaping, and property in general. You will see the landscapers in green always doing some kind of property maintenance.. if you ask nicely, they can get you a fresh coconut right from the tree, and open it with a machete! Definitely worth a $5 tip! (we always take a couple of straps of $5s and $1s to all inclusive resorts... even thought tips are included, these people work harder, smile, and wait on you better than the average US servers/bartenders that we tip 20%+ for crapy service.... so please pay it forward!!!) I could walk up and the bartenders always knew what I drank.. and the beach waitstaff did too... so definitely worth tipping the staff... The people whining about the shuttle service, should have enjoyed the walk through the "ecological trail" that went through the property. we stayed way down by the pool/beach and it was maybe a 5-7 minute walk to the front of the resort. I don't know how people think it is a long walk or that it was inconvenient, or how people said it was a 20 min walk.. not even close... enjoy walking the beautiful property! Restaurants/Bars - again I can't stress enough to take some tip money. These people really do a good job with smiles and do not get the normal 20%+ that we give in the states. Since we were NOT platinum, we had to actually go and get on a list like any normal restaurant here in the states. The longest we ever had to wait was maybe 30 minutes (Japanese Hibachi)... the good thing is you can always enjoy drinks while you wait! We thought the Ate at all of the included restaurants (never could figure out the non included ones.. so didn't even try)... all were good for all inclusive. Pescador - seafood place, we ate at twice... b/c we were able to get in quickly both times. The sea bass ins't like the chilean that i'm used to.. it had more of a catfish taste and texture. The red snapper was much better imo. The Japanese was the longest wait.. but it was worth it. They seat you two times, once for appetizers, then at the teppanyaki table. Shrimp, chicken, and steak.. we did buffet mostly for breakfast, you can get eggs cooked to order, crepes, omelets, etc.. would be nice if the fans worked a bit better, b/c it is hard to eat when it is so humid... which reminds me the Steakhouse does not have A/C, so it is hot. The table next to us got our food, but they didn't say anything, so after sitting for a long time, we had to re-order our food. The staff was so apologetic, and accommodating.. but the people that took our food, should have said something. So I place that on them.. not the staff... the hamburgers and pizza both looked pretty bad.. they could work on that.. the rest was all good for all inclusive. The beach was so pretty. Soft white sand, no sea shells or rocks, just powdery heaven. We made a point to go down before breakfast and claim a nice shade hut with some towels and chairs. After breakfast we'd go down and enjoy the beach. A tropical storm had stirred up the water, so it wasn't as calm or clear as normal, but it finally calmed down and cleared up late in the week. We were able to attract some fish with some bread and snorkeling was pretty good the last day. Some tips: 1. Book a bike ride with Gregory in animation either the day you arrive or the next day. This will allow you to ride the entire property on a bike and really give you a good idea of how to get around.. and also see the entire property. Really great tour guide! 2. Wallking off of the property to shop is not recommended, we got hounded by people as soon as we walked off of the property, and it kind of freaked out my kids lol. 3. Pirate ship snorkeling, shark, and stingray tour is worth it -- Elvis took great care of us! 4. Get up early just to save a good shade spot on the beach! 5. Take tip money 6. Bring an insulated tumbler to keep your drinks cold, and to be green. The waiters/bartenders will fill our large tumblers vs using the plastic cups that the ice melts so fast in. Plus less trash. 7. The shows, Animation group did a good job of entertaining us..kudos to them and the Dominican Justin Bieber!!! ;) 8. Take bug spray and spray your ankles and backs of your knees especially at night. Note they do actually have a mosquito fog truck that I saw driving around early in the morning too. 9. Bring lots of sunscreen we used 3 big cans over the week 10. The peacocks and flamingos are everywhere.. they make for some great photo ops. 11. The beach sales people are annoying. but hey.. they aren't any more annoying than those guys at the mall kiosks in the US.. or the door to door salesman.. so be nice.. just say no gracias.. but you can normally get a pretty good deal through them too! 12. They have Stoli Vodka and other brand name alcohols if you ask;) Overall we had a great time.. and would visit this resort again if we went back. More>

I'm late giving this review. In 2013, my husband and I took our first resort vacation together and decided on Bavaro Princess in Punta Cana, DR. We went in October for a week. I can definately say that this was a fabulous vacation. The service was amazing. Our room was always spotless. The fridge always well stocked and the food delicious. Also the beach was very well maintained. The place looked like a post card. If i were to return to Punta Cana again, I would go there again. More>

Best customer service ever !!!!

WOW.......as a Las Vegas and being in the service industry I was pleasantly surprised. All the things you hear about the DR are true, at least we are at the Bavaro Princess resort. The staff couldn't do enough for you. The rooms were clean, the pool is great, and the grounds were beautiful. Ross and Mickey at the concierge desk are simply the best. Bartenders Raphy and Qui Qui were great!!!! If you're looking for a reasonably priced escape I would recommend this resort. I will return!!!! More>

Upon booking our stay at Bavaro we read other reviews. I would like to touch on many of those areas that we read about. First, check in was very easy. One review we read said to get the Internet card or hot spot upon check in. We were very glad we did this as the "free" wifi was not readily available. We put a $50 cash deposit down and were charged $6 per day. Upon checking out we received our $50 cash back. It was well worth it. Everyone was extremely friendly, we especially liked Tony, the pool bar tender, Gregory, Hector, and Justin Bieber. The entertainment was fun! The people selling on the beach were not pushy and really did not bother us unless we wanted to be bothered. The rooms were wonderful, comfortable beds and very clean. Food and drinks were plentiful with something for everyone. They were not skimpy on bottled water or alcohol in the drinks. The A/C in one of our rooms was not able to be adjusted. We got a room close to the main pool which was ideal. We had no problems getting beach or pool chairs. If you want a specific spot or want to ensure a spot in the shade I do advise getting there early to put out your towels and something (magazine or a book) to identify it is your spot. We used the gym one day and we were impressed by the size and amount of equipment available. The resort was huge so it is advised you keep your map on you when going to restaurants, etc. in case you get lost or off track. I would definitely recommend this resort and hope to go back for another visit in the future. More>
