Let me first start off by saying that we stayed at this resort in September of 2014. I'm writing this review in May of 2015. We loved this resort so much that we are in the process of booking our second trip here. I have virtually nothing bad to say about this resort.
1. Beach - we are beach bums and this was THE BEST BEACH I HAVE EVER BEEN TO. We upgraded to the Platinum Club and we had such quiet space on the beach we were never bothered unless it was for another drink. Our server on the beach was amazing, our drinks were never empty. He even treated us to a bottle of champagne one day. The beach was impeccable, views for days. I could not say enough about this beach. Truly the most beautiful beach at any resort I have ever been to and I've stayed in different places of Mexico as well as US Virgin Islands.
2. Pool - In the afternoon the pool was great. After laying on the beach all day it's nice to go to the swim up bar and wash off the salt water and have a drink in the pool.
3. Rooms - I loved the room layout. Sometimes at nice resorts the bathroom is not private enough but the room was clean and well layed out. The room was in the platinum part of the resort so we were only a few hundred feet from the beach and we had a very very short walk to it.
4. Restaurants - Loved all the restaurants. We don't eat fish so our preferred location was the steak house. We ate there almost every night. We ventured out to the Italian style restaurant which was good. Portions were a little small BUT you can order as much as you want!! Breakfast buffet was great. The resort does not skim on their staff. They have more than enough staff to accommodate the amount of people at the resort and the service did not disappoint.
5. Staff - Staff was great! Everyone knew our names and treated us with kindness and like we were local celebrities. We enjoyed the company of some more than others but we loved the staff. We did not participate in any sales speeches, it's not mandatory so if you just tell them you aren't interested, they may not be happy but they have to accept it.
6. Casino - They say they have table games but they really only have two roulette tables and two blackjack tables. The people there will WATCH YOU LIKE A HAWK. If you plan to play, plan to be watched. Not only do they watch you, but they watch their staff. In America there's a little more trust but it definitely took some getting used to. We didn't end up winners and we left with a buzz and memory of a fun time.
Returning - We are planning to make this our yearly trip spot. Once a year we would like to make this our second home. We loved it here and could not have enough great things to say.
Excursions - The must-do is the trip to Hoyo Azul (blue hole). If you book multiple excursions with the guy in the lobby and pay cash, you can negotiate and get a deal. Highly recommend.
Money - Bring your tip money with you. Don't plan to get money at the resort. The exchange fees are very very high and the ATM was almost always out of money.
Watch your belongings - We had our brand new cell phone sitting beside us at one of the stops for the shuttle that takes you around the resort and we turned around and it was GONE. Nobody returned it and we were calling twice a day to the lost and found. Never to be seen again.
Wifi - Was free with the platinum upgrade but if you're really smart and read this full review, you'll know to ask the people on the beach for the code to the next doors wifi. We did that and had free wifi on the beach all day. Wifi was otherwise only available in the platinum lobby which had only two computers, so if you plan to use them, plan to wait 5 minutes for one to be free. They were also very slow but we didn't go there to spend time on the computer.
The ONLY COMPLAINT - the beds were uncomfortable. Similar to sleeping on the ground. It might be wise for the hotel to invest in some 2 inch mattress covers or even some new mattresses possibly in the platinum club to start. This doesn't stop us from coming back.

My husband and I are in our late twenties & have just returned from 2 weeks here. First time visiting the DR and we were not disappointed. Hotel, staff, location, beach, food - all excellent. The grounds are beautiful & the natural wildlife especially the peacocks make for a nice walk round the resort. I didn't get his name but there was one particular gardener who went out of his way to bring us fresh coconuts most mornings. Having the choice of all the different restaurants made each night enjoyable with a change of scenery. Restaurant Chopin in particular has a lovely backdrop. We did the sushi making which was good fun, parasailing, dirt boogies & I very highly recommend Saona Island!! No words to describe that place other then pure paradise! The starfish in the natural ocean pool is my highlight. I would certainly recommend this hotel & location to anyone & we are looking to return. Oh and all the info about taking a voltage converter!? Don't bother, my GHD straighteners heated up fine, phones charged & the hairdryer provided is more then ample. Take US dollars only as they don't seem to want the Dominican peso as much. Other then that... Enjoy as we did.

My husband & I had a fantastic time at Bavaro Princess. We were there in 2011 for a friend's wedding and decided to come back a 2nd time for our honeymoon. The food was great, everything was spotlessly clean, the service fantastic and special mention goes to Mariel at the Platinum Beach Bar who was very friendly! I'd recommend going Platinum all the way! It was worth it! The weather was perfect too...we went on the booze cruise snorkeling excursion, had massages on the beach. We look forward to going back again, but this time, we'll bring our little one (we didn't want a family-moon on this trip).

We stayed at bavaro princess from May 9th for a week , we had the honeymoon suite. We arrived at the resort at 1 pm so the lady at front desk gave us our bracelet and informations but we were told the room was not ready until 3 which is the time of check in , it didn't bother us our lugages were taking care of so we went on discovering the resort and have a drink . Over all we had an amazing vacation I read a lot of good reviews and saw some bad ones but we still decided to go to this resorts with all good comments , the bad ones I guess those people really had a bad luck or they are just people that see more negatives then positive . There is nothing perfect in life so why complain for stupid little things , your vacation is what you make out of it . The staff are very polite and welcoming , at the restaurants and the buffet the service was amazing the food was good with a lot of choices , you have to keep in mind you are in the south and not in Manhattan . This is a very big resort with beautiful grounds and garden always being taking care of which livery peacocks walking and birds :))

My wife, children, and parents visited the Bavaro Princess as part of a time share. Initially, we were placed near the water treatment plant, and asked to be moved. It wasn't an issue with smell, but was an issue with the view. The staff accommodated our request, and we moved closer to the beach. Other reviewers mentioned the size of the resort, and that's no exaggeration. You'll need the shuttle, depending on where you stay, to get either to the main house or to the beach. The resort is clean and well maintained.
Rooms are all suites, which is good for families spending 6 nights at the resort. They are clean and spacious. You'll have to request both wash cloths and blankets, as they don't come with the room. I think it's a way for housekeeping to get tips. There is a channel that shows pornographic movies, it looks like the old HBO channel that you didn't pay for, but could still make out the images on the screen.
Food was ok. About what you'd expect at an all-inclusive. I would suggest the hibachi restaurant, but be sure to get there early, because it's small and is very popular. Lunch is fairly standard. Best dinner nights were Dominican and Mexican.
The staff clears the beach of debris every morning; the beach is clean. Be sure to claim your space early as folks do that early.
We spent our time at the pool close to the beach. It's kid friendly, but the there is a swim up bar that makes the acquisition of adult beverages very easy. Bar staff are very accommodating.
This is our first time in the DR, and overall, we were pleased with the resort.

Recommended for GroupsThe Bavaro Princess is extraordinary in size, with over 96 acres of endless landscape, some of it tamed, some of it wild. Fanned -shaped palms, wandering peacocks flaunting their plumage, flowering trees, trails through mangroves, jungle with lagoons and natural springs, only begin to describe the abundance, of nature's beauty.
