Bavaro Princess & Apple Vacations
Nov 26 2018
We repeatedly asked Apple to assure all 5 rooms were within a reasonable distance. We had people on the other side of the resort. Wi-Fi was only available in the lobby, so we could not use texting to stay in contact. This was Very disturbing. Room air conditioning was leaking all over the floor, making it very slippery. Hotel allows hawkers into the resort, so every time you leave the buffet area you are accosted by people trying to sell you excursions, and they are Very pushy. The buffet is closed during main times for lunch (10am-1pm). Two of the main restaurants ran out of items we ordered for dinner. The room lighting was very poor and dimly lit. It was okayish for what we were in there for, but it made reading very difficult. 8 out of 10 of us ended up with bowel issues from the food there. We did not use anything other than bottled water, and did not eat off the resort.

Great trip!!

Had a really good trip, absolutely didn't want to come back, only complaints were the wifi at the resort itself, was pretty terrible and the Apple Representative at the resort was pushy and rude. Other than that we had a great time and can't wait to go back again!

August Vacation
Aug 19 2018
We had a lovely time at the Bavarro Princess hotel August 6-12. All the staff were very helpful and friendly. The only major disappointment was the beach. There was a huge amount of seaweed washing up. The sand on the beach was lovely, but the seaweed made the sand near the water disgusting. No walking along the beach for me because that would include piles of seaweed! Getting into the water required wading through a stew of green weeds. Once you got out a ways, the water was slightly better to be in. Happily there was one day (out of 6) that the seaweed was far less dense and we did swim that afternoon. The hotel staff was definitely trying to gather it up and carry it away, but there is just no way they could keep up.

The staff was very friendly, pleasant and many times humorous and were a delight to be around. They certainly earned our respect and we truly valued their hard work and dedication. The resort itself could use some updating and maintenance. The beach had quite a bit of seaweed at the water's edge which kept us from fully enjoying it. Also we did not appreciate being approached or "harassed" by certain members who were very persistent in trying to get us to invest in premium vacation upgrades. We were promised certain miscellaneous items for our time and never received any items.

We went on this trip with friends so we had a good time regardless but there were several issues we had with our stay that have caused us to not want to stay at this resort again. #1 - our key to our room stopped working 5 different times during our stay. Luckily we were close to our friends rooms a couple of the times because I had to use the restroom and it's quite a trek from our room to a public bathroom and the trolleys are not dependable at all times of the day. Twice when this happened we were returning to our room for the night and had to go to the lobby to get new keys. At first they tried to tell us that it was because we kept our key by our phone/credit card but then found out it was an issue with the lock itself. Super frustrating. #2 - the service. Every morning at breakfast we had to ask for water or coffee at the buffet. We were never greeted or asked if we needed anything. We got a letter the day before we left saying that the workers in the DR were going on strike so I don't know if that affected things or what. Our room and one of the other rooms had no hot water for half the trip. Our minibar wasn't filled the 2nd day we were there and since you can't drink the water, having the bottles in your room is a must. #3 - the food was not good. The Italian restaurant was not very Italian. It's not clear what or how much you could order. We couldn't get into the Teppenyaki restaurant the entire time. The 'romantic' dinner at Liceys was not good or romantic. The hotel itself is beautiful. The grounds and beaches were beautiful. But this is not a luxury resort. Everytime we talked to the staff about the key or the water they made you feel stupid as if you just didn't know how to use a key card or a shower. No apologies or offering for the inconvenience. We love Punta Cana but will be skipping this resort in the future.

Deceptive charges from hotel are frustrating (TripAdvisor Review Title also)
Jul 26 2018
This is from my most recent published TripAdvisor Review: I was hoping my 100th TripAdvisor review would be a big celebration of an experience that was nothing less than spectacular. Unfortunately for us, last week’s stay was a smidge past average but definitely NOT a “good” experience, overall. The best parts about our stay was: 1) the AMSTAR (Apple’s DR company?) rep, Ellina 2) the wait staff at restaurants and bar areas were great! (Extra tips might have influenced their kind attentiveness!) 3) the fact we did not pay an arm and a leg for a so-so experience (but we still grit our teeth a little when we think of even paying for such meh experience). If you’re thinking the casino is “on-site” as the name of the resort indicates, it’s not. It’s off the resort, across the street. We’ve done all-inclusives before, so we had some expectations (if your travel package comes with charter flights-EXPECT TO BE DELAYED-six “charter flights” later and NOT ONE has been on time YET! Not a half our or hour late, we’re talking a couple hours to 3 1/2 hours delayed). When we checked in (after a long day of delayed travel), Remy (front desk associate) was so polite and helpful. When reviewing the resort, the map of the resort, restaurants that do “not need reservations but you can always get a reservation if you’re a platinum guest”-we asked, “What would the cost be to upgrade to Platinum?” (Other than close proximity to the beach-a vendor-free private beach-and 24 hour room service that’s “free”-other room type guests pay for room service-I’m still not sure what “perks” there are to upgrading. Remy went behind he wall that separates the front desk from the person who apparently makes all the decisions and returned to tell us all the platinum rooms were booked (no beach view/direct walkway access) but they’d send staff in to make our regular room “just like platinum” and add nice robes and house shoes we could wear while we stayed (no differences in the structure of the rooms, apparently?) it’d be a $700 fee to upgrade to platinum for our Sunday evening to Friday morning stay, to stay in the same regular room but have a different color bracelet and a nice, rented robe/house shoes outfit. No thank you, Remy. We stayed at a Grand Riviera Princess (Playa del Carmen) in July of 2013 and had some expectations of an increased price; for our 8 day, 7 night stay there, our platinum upgrade cost was a little more than $250. I dug out our old receipts just to make sure I wa

Large Room but uncomfortable beds
Jul 25 2018
The room was very nice and spacious but the beds were totally uncomfortable and hard as a rock. I asked for a topper and they brought a thin mattress pad that did not help. We have stayed in All inclusive hotels for 20+ years and this was the worst food I have ever had. We only did the buffet so I am not sure about the specialty restaurants. The service was non existent. We had to get everything ourselves which was fine but they often ran out of glasses for beverages. The beach was a seaweed mess and they tried to clean it up all week but they just used their hands and trash bags to there was a 20 ft wide area of seaweed as you entered the beach. Very gross and stinky

Overall Good

My experience at this resort was overall good. The resort is HUGE but offers free shuttles that transport you around the property which was very convenient. My room 015 was directly in front of the beach, snack bar and pool. A very great location. I arrived the day before my birthday so once I got to the room per my request,it was decorated with balloons which was an added surprise considering I wasn't sure they would do it. I also received as fruit platter, dessert plate & bottle of Champagne for booking durectly on their website which was another great surprise. The pool and beach area was clean and well attentive, they offer a swim up bar and various daily activities which was nice. The snack bar was ok for a quick burger n fries but the buffet across from it was nice. They offer several restaurants that you can dine at WITHOUT a reservation which was a huge plus. For my bday I went to the Hibachi Restaurant and it was entertaining and a lot of fun. I was even able to cook. We also caught a few shows FREE that were amazing, one being The Lion King. Considering I'm not much of a drinker, the few I had weren't watered down and the service everywhere was amazing. CON: The reason for 4 stars is the mosquitoes were unbearable. My daughter got bitten up very badly which made it very uncomfortable for her the 4 days we were there. Although we were able to get $12 "mosquito repellent" from the market there it didn't help AT ALL. I saw the staff driving around fumigating but it didn't help and my daughter's legs look deformed for being bit so badly. I saw other guests bit up badly and scratching as well. Another thing is it's extremely difficult to enjoy your vacation, sitting at the beach and or pool because people are constantly haggling you to buy a tour or something from them. Made the experience quite frustrating. Overall great resort but I probably wouldn't return unless I could be sure the mosquitoes were more under control.

Nice place, go for the Platinum service

This was a nice place to stay. We bought the platinum package with our trip and it was worth it. Only complaint is the Royal Vacations time share scam artists. God those guys were annoying. I watched on tell a guest he was the manager of the platinum area and they had to go with him. The beach and restaurants were good as well. We enjoyed the pool and the service. We will definitely be going back but this time when they try to sucker us into the time share sales pitch we can tell them to back off and walk away.
