Review has nothing to do with any hurricanes, rain or wind damage. Paid for upgrade To Platinum. I believe that is a joke. Spoke to other guest who described their rooms and showed them pics of ours and theirs was much nicer. I think platinum meant OLD. Walked into room and it smelled of glue or something, found out was fresh epoxy on shower/floor. Bathroom was nasty with dirty chalking, chipped tiles and rain shower hanging loose from wall. Bedroom and main area floors and walls were always damp and we were always slipping on floor. Bed and pillows had odor. My Moms room phone never worked and her sheets and pillows smelled worse than ours. No room service, no drink wait staff at pool had to go to swim up bar for drinks. All food was greasy and tasted like stale spoiled olive oil. And the most horrific smell of my life (worse than a sewage plant) swamp area that we had to drive through on shuttle to lobby/main buffet/theater!!

The hotel grounds, hotel room, and facilities were wonderful. Although there were numerous specialty restaurants there were no reservations in the wait was it at least one hour to get a table. The worst part of the trip is that four out of six of us developed significant travelers diarrhea. The beach was beautiful except for the significant amount of seaweed in the water and on the beach. Wine Room was infested with mosquitoes The staff was nice and overall it was a good vacation

While an all inclusive means everything, be expected to feel obligated to tip everyone or be asked to tip them. The staff, the peddlers on the beach, the locals selling their , everyone wants tipped. It got to the point of being annoying.

Our overall experience was good but we were disappointed with food quality and our hotel. Not only did 3 of the 5 of us get sick but we really thought the taste/presentation was way off for this quality of a resort. Also each room was provided with 2 beers in the frig each day and no liquor nor could we request extra beer without being charged. Room service was also extra. Our room was clean and the resort nice (yet very big). We have traveled to Cancun before and always had good quality food/drink. DR did not match up in our minds.

I took this trip to celebrate my bday with my teenager and we loved it. The hotel was beautiful and the staff was very friendly. It felt like home away from home. The one thing my daughter and I loved about it was it was a hotel for everyone no matter the age. It was family-friendly, couple-friendly, single-friendly, every friendly you can think of Bavaro Princess has it. And with having all of that the hotel did not tell crowded.

The platinum suites, resort landscaping and beach area were excellent. . However the food was below standard due to the flies and birds eating in the buffet areas. The restaurants were extremely hot which again was not the best environment for food in the buffet areas. We had a great time and we didn't starve but we were very careful in our food selections.

Platinum upgrade not worth the money nor on par with other Princess resorts

I only purchased the upgrade due to my experience at the Princess resort in Rivera Maya in Mexico. Unfortunately the experience was no where near the same. The drink choices were no different then regular the rooms weren't as nice there was no private pool area. I felt as if I completely wanted my money. The food was subpar. The lobster dinner was terrible. I feel as tho I could've stayed somewhere much better for the price we paid and I travel rather frequently. The trip was just ok. Our rooms weren't cleaned as well as they should have even with topping every day. Room service was slow, if they even answered the telephone when called.

A group of us were at Bavaro Princess for a wedding from Oct 8-13. About half the group stayed in Platinum Suites, and half the group in Jr. Garden Suites. First off, I'll say there was still some recovery work needed from the hurricanes (path from main lobby to bungalow area and the eco area were both flooded; gourmet restaurant/disco pub were closed for repairs), and due to low guest numbers they were rotating which restaurants they had open, but I've tried not to let that influence the review. Rooms: Platinum rooms were nice, in great shape, and very spacious. The Jr. Garden Suites were also quite nice, though their location is much less ideal (far from beach and from the a la carte restaurants). Service: The service was a bit hit or miss. Most of the time it was pretty good, but sometimes it was very slow (e.g. during dinner one night, I walked to a different area of the resort, got 2 drinks, came back, finished a drink, and only after that - about 30min later - did the drinks we'd ordered arrive). There were also a number of times when bars or restaurants closed earlier than scheduled (e.g. bars being fully shut 15min before schedule). Restaurant & Bars: I had low expectations for the food at an all inclusive, and was pleasantly surprised. It's not high-end fine dining, but for the most part I think the food was about as good as I could have hoped for. I was extremely happy with my steak at El Gaucho, Teppanyaki offered a fun Benihana style experience, and the buffets had plenty of options including some tasty local offerings. My only complaint would be that when ordering a la carte, it'd be nice if you weren't limited to 1 app/1 main/1 dessert, as I often was left hungry after a meal at those restaurants. With respect to hours, no issue with the restaurants, but I was disappointed that the snack bar - the only non-a la carte option open in the bungalow area - was closed at 6pm each day. For bars, the majority of them closed at 6pm, and the late night bar by the beach didn't open early enough - after an early dinner there's nowhere to get a drink for several hours, barring a trek on the shuttle out to the main lobby bar. Platinum Experience: This was probably the most disappointing part of the stay. The hotel deserves a strong 3 star rating if not for platinum issues. The "premium" alcohols are not available at many of the restaurants (e.g. the steakhouse) which was disappointing. We went to one of the neighboring Princess resorts, and even after showing our bracelets the security guard was trying to kick us off. We had to angrily argue our right to be there before we were allowed to stay. Most importantly, the service in the platinum lounge was atrocious. It's nowhere near the service you get at any other bar on the resort, half the time the bartender is nowhere to be found, and they shut it down more than an hour ahead of schedule some nights. It felt like the only thing we really got out of platinum was better beach chairs, and the ability to make restaurant reservations.

A poor honeymoon having stayed in the same group in Mexico we had high expectations of our visit we arrived in the early stages of hurricane Irma and firstly was not informed at ALL about the hurricane or the precautions the hotel were taking. we had booked honeymoon suite as it was our honeymoon and were given no additions apart from 2 dinners in the "paying" restaurant which when we had arrived to - were closed on both occasions and they had booked them for us! - and 2x 20 min spa sessions which we had no complaints about as it was a lovely experience and both said we would pay to go back. we were then hit by the hurricane and the hotel put in really good measures to ensure everyone was safe. we had arrived on a Tuesday and unfortunately due to the weather didn't get to experience the pools until the Saturday. we both agreed that the large pool was the best place to stay as there was not much else to do all day. the food wasn't great - although some nights were better than others. We also tried the al a carte restaurants which were very good quality although we did wait over 1 1/2 for our main meal 2 nights as they had "forgot" our order and no one noticed! we didn't make too much of a fuss though as it was included in the package. We have no complaints about the staff whatsoever and feel that they do carry the hotel and its amenities - some staff which stood our on the bars were Claudio and angelito who were at the pool bar for the vast majority of our 2 week holiday and made us feel welcome and looked after. we would especially commend the animation team who really did make our stay a bit more - I hate saying Bearable. they were constantly bright and bubbly and realy put their all in all day long - which I have to say they did work A LOT of hours. From first thing in the morning all the way through to after the evening show they were switched on and really seemed to love their jobs. Willis was a stand out for us as he went above and beyond his job - not only did he remember everyones names, our back stories and what kind of activites we liked he and a few of the other team during a bad rainstorm sat with a lady who has a cast on for a good 2/3 hours to keep her and her mum company as she couldn't get the cast wet and then helped them to their room after. We wouldn't return and would hope that some improvements can be made to make this resort worth the money.

We have been here 6 times and each time is such a wonderful stay that this year we've decided to up the number of days to 10! We always stay Platinum and are NEVER disappointed. The staff goes well out of their way to make us happy every day! The restaurants are wonderful but we like the buffets best! We travel with 2 others and between the 4 of us, we can all eat what we want.

The reason i chose this hotel is because 3 years ago i stayed in Grand Rivera princess in Mexico and was amazing, Unfortunately it was not the same standard but it was still a nice stay. Checking in was smooth and efficient, the only way to get to the room is by getting a bus due to Hurricane Maria that cause a little swamp (not a big issue). Room was lovely ... It's lovely that all rooms have a Jacuzzi another reason why i choose this hotel. Very spacious which i loved felt like a small apartment. The A/C was a bit annoying due to the sound but that is no ones fault i guess. Gracias Rosa por arreglar nuestra habitacion muy bonita. The Beach is amazing the highlight of this resort, lovely sand and water. Food was nice, i really like the fact that everyday was something different. No complaints there :) Overall, it was a comfortable stay there is a few things i would of like it to have e.g WIFI in the entire hotel and costumer service could have been better. Most staff members didn't seem happy working and thank you too those who always had a smile on their face. It was my partners B-day and i organised a cake and balloons to be prepared which was a lovely gesture from the hotel to him. WARNING: Royal Holiday Club Reps There is a few members of royal holiday advertising their service outside the main buffet in the lobby. They will confuse you (sales tactic) by saying they will help you book an excursion and in fact it's a way for you to go and waste over 60 minuets of your time to join a scheme of 30 years for accommodation. Don't do it if you don't feel comfortable.. We ended up joining this nonsense which kinda ruined our experience as it was done at the hotel. Would i rate the hotel 5*? ... No 4* as i had the expectation from Grand Rivera Princess in Mexico and that very different....Would i go back? Yes, i like that you leave the hotel you see locals. Thank you for making my stay enjoyable :) I met wonderful people at the hotel.

Nice resort ,Clean room,good service ,food was great ,the grounds are beautiful ,and people very friendly ,the only negative thing i would give to this resort was when we arrived they told us because it was are first time in this resort ,we had the option to choose some kind of gift basket with some shirts and other stuff or a welcome breakfast ,that was the worse mistake we did agree on that ,because next morning they were there to bring us to this hall to try to sell us time shares ,i was very upset they were not honest with us and tried to lie to us about this ,and when we told them we were NOT interested they got upset with us saying why we are wasting their time ,i try to explain they didn't told us the truth thats why we were there ,but this was a lesson for us never again ,so please this is an advise for everyone who's thinking of visiting this resort ,their all there at the entrance of the buffets trying to sell you this time shares very annoying ,this is for the management team WE ARE THERE BECAUSE WE WANT TO RELAX AND NOT TO DO BUSINESS SO PLEASE SPOT THIS ANNOYING WAY TO BOTHER PEOPLE !!!!!!
