Was very disappointed upon entering room. Very old and dingy, very clean, but everything in room was falling apart. Hardly any places to plug in phones, etc. Had a coffee maker on a little bench in front of window with no where to plug in. The plugs that were there were falling out of the wall Smallest hotel room I have ever been in, and was supposed to accommodate 3 adults. Was no room to walk between the 2 beds. No place to put suitcases, no place to change clothes. The temperature in the room was a constant 80 degrees, and did not go below that for the 2 days we were there. The rest of the resort was very nice, however, the room was uninhabitable as far as I was concerned. We were upgraded to their sister resort next door, which was very nice. Jesus was very helpful in getting us moved. More>

An excellent memorable 10days with my daughter

This was my second holiday at the Allegro Playacar and I enjoyed it just as much the 1st time, if not more. I travelled alone 18months ago, and this time travelled with my 5yr old daughter. Both times I have met lovely people and embraced the wonderful mexican culture. The staff, throughout the hotel were brilliant : welcoming, helpful, friendly, happy and clearly enjoy giving the best of their job to ensure guests have a great time. My daughter enjoyed the kids club, and in particular Joannah, who was outstanding at her job. Thank you for giving her so much confidence in the water !! It was a pleasure getting to know her. I was able to enjoy the various activities during this time and relax by the lovely, well kept pools whilst enjoying some delicious cocktails. I chose an upstairs room as I liked the space and the thatched roof. The rooms are basic but very functional and we wanted for nothing. Cleaned daily to a high standard by Martha. So many of the staff made us feel welcome, to name a few : Manuel, Miguel, "duck"!, Joannah, Christian, Alan and Anderson. Great entertainers who never failed to get the crowd going and create a really good atmosphere. My daughter went home with so many wonderful memories of her first experience to Mexico. Thank you ! We'll be back, I have no doubt about it. Keep doing what you're doing. More>

Nice small Resort in a gated community

For a 3.5* rated we expected less however very pleasantly surprised by the service, cleanliness, well maintained resort and the food was better than average. Been to Mexico lots of times and we really liked the location and security they provide in Playacar - I would highly recommend any resort in this area. It was within walking distance to Playa Del Carmen so always lots to do without spending a lot on cabs all the time. We are first club members and felt that the rooms were dated but clean. I would have liked a larger first club area as only enough lounge chairs for 8 people. WE generally stayed by the main pool however most days it was difficult to find two chairs. Beach is large with beautiful white sand - one of the best beaches I have been to in the Mayan. People from all over the world stayed there - there was separate buildings for the Italians - we found it was hard to find many English speaking people. All in all a very good vacation More>

Our fourth trip to our second home

This is our fourth time in 2 years at this Jewel on the beach. As usual the staff at the Allegro out did themselves again. From Miguel the GM to Ivan and Christian in guest experience, top shelf professionals. Our room was right at the beach 5801 and was great with a beautiful view of the beach ( thank you Yvonne ). And our favorite bartenders Nestor Manuel great job as usual keeping our drinks fresh lol. At the Buffet Humberto Freddie Louis Angel and of course the food and beverage Manager Diego what a great person who really cares about us having everything we need. The beach was spotless as usual with a few days of seaweed which is something that is all over the carribean and has nothing to do with the resort. To sum everything up this is my home away from home. We are already planning our next visit at the beginning of April for another 2 weeks. I'm sorry if I forgot anyone as I know I have but you know that I appreciate all that you all do for our group of 4. See you all in April cannot wait. Your Friends Kevin and Breda! More>
