Playcar Vacation 2016

The service of the entire staff was excellent. We enjoyed the buffet and the specialty restaurants. There were plenty of activities during the day. The entertainment in the evening very good. We were walking distance to town, shopping and additional restaurants. Special thanks to Diego and Ramon on the Activities Team for all they did to make our stay so enjoyable. More>

Similar to some of the other reviews here, I was underwhelmed with our experience. We had requested (several times) a room with a minimum of 2 beds (we asked for 3) and were given one king-size upon check in. While we were moved promptly, the other room was just okay - including a broken toilet for the entire extent of our stay. We were there to watch TV, but it's nice to have the option. It never worked either. The food in the main dining was poor and sometimes getting a table or coffee was a challenge. The nice guy that cleaned our rooms and the beach were the only highlights and the service around the pool was fine. But the to say it's a 4 star is massive stretch. More>

❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ Love Allegro Playacar

We stayed at Allegro from Jan 5-19 2016 and while it was not our first visit, it was the first time I brought my 11 year old grandson. Allegro has been bought by the Barcelo chain and you can really see the positive changes they are making. The staff, as always, are what makes the stay perfect. Polite, friendly, and efficient, they go out of their way to make sure you have the best vacation possible. I'd like to thank Humberto, Manny, Manuel, Daniel, Alex, Erica and Ivan, to name just a few, for making our stay at this nicely sized beautiful resort perfect. It's like seeing family again ❤️ We will be returning next year and I am excited to see all the changes they have made. More>

2 Star. NEVER Again

The beach was beautiful and the bartenders, waiters and entertainment staff were great. That's the extent of the positives we experienced here though. Our first night we got to the hotel at 10 and were given the most run down and dirty room (uncleaned bathroom, crumbs in the sheets etc.) that was located a stones throw from the theatre and had two double beds instead of a king. This happened to many people at the resort that we spoke with. In the morning we rushed to the front desk to have our room changed and after some reluctance they gave us a King room on the second floor. The rooms are very run down and we knew that they would be dated coming to this resort, however we were not prepared for our bathroom to reak of sulphur or to be basically sharing rooms with four other parties as the roof is indeed just straw separating you from the outside (birds, carts going by, the people in the rooms next to you). This is no joke, you could literally have a conversation with the people in the other room. Breakfast and Lunch were okay, although repetitive we enjoyed the omlette station (because it was the only thing that was warm) and the food served down by the pool area was always satisfactory. Dinner however was always awful. Cold. Repetitive. Very select few options. Thankfully we went on excursions for three days and experienced some fabulous buffets while away. The timeshare people were particularly awful as well. We got hosed into going to the Xcaret resort for what they told us was a buffet and photos with parrots and monkeys and relaxing on their lagoon. No. It was a three hour sales pitch to buy a timeshare where they refused to let us leave and go back to the resort. After we made it quite clear that we were uninterested in purchasing one (we're 24 for god sake) the salesman became even more pushy and almost hostile. Worst part of the trip and we missed out on ours at the beach that day despite asking to leave. All in all we would not return here even after the renovations that are set to be done. The beach is beautiful but there are a hundred other better hotels in the same price range on the same stretch of beach. Not worth it. More>
