Relaxing time in Paradise

This resort is clean and relaxing. The low key small scale of it makes it very appealing. If you want a relaxing vacation this is the place for it!!

We stayed at Allegra Playa Car in 2015. Since then there have been some updates, which were all very nice with the exception of the removal of the grass umbrellas on the beach. They were replaced with palm trees. We appreciated not being attacked by time share people. They now approach it as a vacation club, with much less aggression. The entertainment staff is not as good as back in 2015. The resorts in the area usually put on a nice super bowl evening. All the bars on 5th avenue were running the super bowl on an English speaking channel. They really dropped the ball on it this year. Victor chose to run the biggest night of American football in Spanish. All of the audience with the exception of about six people spoke English. During the commercials they would turn up the lights so you could not see the screen so Victor could play football trivia games with the audience. One time, they turned up the lights while the kicker was going for the extra point. Some of the entertainment staff were much friendlier than others. Some would not even make eye contact.

The wait-staff was excellent. The great ones remembered us from day-to-day. The beach was awesome!!! The front desk staff was not all that helpful. The "concierge" only wanted to sell us a timeshare. Our bathroom smelled like a sewer and the bath water came out brown each time we turned it on. There were certain areas of the grounds that always smelled like sewer and the public bathrooms were gross. The buffet was ok but we did not enjoy any of the restaurants. The entertainment was so-so; there was even a time when they stopped translating in English because there weren't enough Americans and Canadians in the audience. That was a little frustrating.

we had trouble with our room the first and second night. once we overcame the room issues the resort was great. I understand the resort had some remodeling done. the room I was in should not have been listed as available. The resort was able to find me a more accommodating room.

Facility was worn and dirty, swimming pools were filthy and had no filtration or water treatment, swim up bar was controlled by ignorant parents with toddlers sitting at the bar all day, the food service was poor quality, nothing like our previous trips to this area, witnessed a child pissing in pool after parent removed diaper, air conditioned spaces weren't air conditioned, entertainment was lousy, people overall not courteous at all, just a cheap resort overall, wouldn't recommend it to anyone!!!!!!!

bed bugs after being upgraded

Jun 21 2016
My wife and I arrived at our hotel the lobby was very aged the marble countertop sticky and the particular person checking Us in someone unattentive. After checking in we went to our room very dark had a smell we took a look at the sheets and there was hair on the sheets and disdain. I went to the front desk complaint about this they were very apologetic he said we will upgrade you it will be the same kind of room only closer to the beach ok. The room in the condition of the room still not good stains on the tables on the floor we had twin beds this time one had hair when did not. I told my wife I would sleep on the air bed she could have the other. She needed to leave immediately however we could not make arrangements with Apple fo leave. During the three-day period my wife experienced a lot of bed bug bites we know these are bed bugs because they're not sand fleas and looking at the conditions of the mattress how healthy they looked under the sheets with the cheap foam cushion on top it was bed bugs not mosquitoes and gnats and fleas bed bugs we even looked it up online and there were some sample pictures that matched what my wife had exactly this was pretty much torture for her. On the fourth day we were able to speak to an Apple representative and make arrangements to get out of that place we transferred next door to the Royal Hideaway Hey sister Resorts of where we were staying. We did have to pay significantly for the upgrade but it was well worth the money it was good to leave where we were. As for the Royal Hideaway perfect. Donn ovshak Oklahoma City Oklahoma USA

I usually need to spend valuable vacation time on the phone to confirm my departure transfer to the airport. It would be beneficial to to streamline this procedure.

The beach is one of the best. The food is adequate but we didn't come here for a food trip but for the sun and surf. The staff is amazing. We had to change rooms and Ivan and Ivonne were so kind and helpful and exceeded our expectations with a complimentary message. The room we were in (5711) was outstanding. I like the small feel of the resort and that it doesn't feel like a "cattle call". You get to know others because you run into them regularly.

Lovely hotel and wonderful service

I have just arrived home from a week here with friends. 09th Jan-16th we had the most wonderful time. On arrival we were greeted by very friendly staff Miss Fanny Gomez. Our room had champagne and strawberries and a big banner across the door as it was our anniversary. Rooms were beautiful and clean, with hairdryer ironing board and iron. Each room had a relaxing hammock on the balcony. The beach is beautiful and the grounds are kept immaculate. The food was great and was different every day. Highly recommend the steak in the Mexican restaurant. We were looked after so well every time we walked into the restaurants. I would like to give recognition to Humberto and Alejandro who made sure our specialty eggs were ordered every morning. We were not hassled at all by time share people as suggested in other reviews. entertainment was standard for hotels but the entertainment team were great at getting people involved. For a good evening out or just a visit to the shops pop down to 5th ave only a 20 min walk from the hotel. This hotel is excellent value for money and we had the best holiday and will definitely return.

My experience at Playacar was amazing! The entertainment folks were friendly (shout out to Ale!). There was always plenty to do during the day and the food was plentiful and there was always a variety. They really kept the liquor and the fun flowing. The rooms were small and cozy and each room has its own hammock. My only complaint is that the rooms are smaller than what you would expect (compared to US style hotel rooms) and smelled a little funny and at night there's not much other than go to the empty discoclub or the show but the surrounding areas, not the shopping area, but if you leave the guarded area, there are some really fun places to check out: cigar shops, clothing, artisan crafts, etc.)

Great Resort. Highly Recommend This Site

A great beach, wonderful staff. The food was great for this type of vacation. I was never bored or disappointed with the buffet. In fact I looked forward to the variety and flare shown Room and view were much better than anticipated In the evening the resort was quiet and peaceful. Never felt crowded either at the pool or the beach. Always chairs available. Appreciated the “quiet” pool. Was great for just swimming and reading.

Very insensitive staff after a major injury.

We really like the rooms, the buffet, the beach. But after suffering a major injury on their equipment by the pool which required major surgery down there; not one staff member so much as asked how I was or what happened for the 2 days before I was admitted to the hospital for surgery. They were aware of the incident because we required a wheelchair and my foot ankle was swollen like a balloon and black and blue. And I had seen the nurse/doctor at the resort. In the end my leg was broken in two places requiring plates and screws etc. The other leg was injured as well. Feeling so ignored by all of the staff made an already traumatic experience even worse.
