Had a great time at this hotel, in a Very beautiful setting, the beach was out of this world, truly 🌡🍹🌞 The buffet was great for the first week, but did get a little fed up with it by the second week, breakfast was good lost of choice. The Italian and Mexican restaurant where beautiful, food to really enjoy and the staff where great, helpful and could not do enough for you, these where manual, george , migel and alonzo on the bar, believe they all need rewards, unlike some, such as Antony on reception very rude and dismissive Then there was the short fat Italian lady on the entertainment crew who was even ruder, turned her head away when I asked her a question, but believe it was because I was English, only witnessed her speaking to people from her own country, very pig headed 🐷 The rooms where ok, yes they needed a little updating, but nothing to serious. I truly enjoyed myself and was glad I picked this hotel, got a good deal from love holidays.com and it was worth every penny, in fact it's the best all inclusive I've ever been to, if you wanted cocktails all day, that's what you got I would also like to mention erika, David and Alex waiters around the pool and lobby, and off course migel and baby face πŸ‘on the pool bar at night wonderful people, they put the rest of staff to shame You will all be missed ❀️ Would I go back, the answer is a big fat yes Only complaint no free wifi, but go to Starbucks two min walk from hotel and you get it free Have a lovely time πŸŒ΅πŸΉπŸŒ…πŸŒ΅πŸΉπŸŒ…πŸŒ΅πŸΉπŸŒ… More>

Quality of stay depends on the location of the room

A good stay, fairly quiet in April / May when we arrived. To echo what everyone else has said. Rooms are a little tired but clean and functional. If you have a room by the beach, expect noise from the pool and daytime entertainment. If you are unlucky enough to get a room by reception you'll have the entertainment blasting through your windows. The blocks in the middle of the site are the best. No draw space to put anything, but there are shelves in the hanging space. Hot water was a bit hit and miss during our stay, it was generally tepid at best. Food in the main restaurant was very good and fairly varied, but best to get there early as some dishes were never replenished. Internet is very expensive, walk out of the hotel, turn left, walk for five minutes and on the right at the end of the shops is a Starbucks where there is free internet. More>

Allegro Playacar - the best spot in Mexico!

This was my first trip to Mexico, I was there with three kids under 11 and we all had a brilliant time. Journey from the airport to the hotel is an easy 45 minute trip. The resort is literally on the beach and the most beautiful beach - white sand, crystal clear water and not busy even though it was school holiday season. The swimming pools are both great - one quiet and one with a pool bar and a fun buzz around it but not too over the top. The staff and other guests were friendly. The food is amazing, plenty of it and always something on offer regardless of the time of day that you may fancy eating and the variety is impressive. Breakfast was a huge hit with the kids (and me). The pool bar in particular was great and drinks (including cocktails) are made properly (often not the case when it is all inclusive). You could happily spend all your time in resort with the pool, beach and many activities if that is what you like doing (table tennis, beach volleyball, pottery painting, giant chess, water aerobics etc etc) or there are so many places to go and visit outside the resort also which are easy to organise, good value and involve more beautiful places and/or exciting adventures. I was amazed at how many options you have when you holiday in Mexico. Our highlights - amazing weather & snorkelling with turtles. Book it - you'll have a great holiday! More>

Good Resort

Just got back from a 5 night stay at allegro playacar. Overall we had a very good time. The two restaurants(Italian and Mexican) were very good. The breakfast buffet was average. Lunch at the pool everyday was good. Some of the dinner buffets like the Italian were very good but others like the international weren't as good but you could always find something to eat at the buffet. The beach and pool were amazing. The staff was very good. The shows were average except for the Michael Jackson show which is a must see. The room isn't great at all but it didn't bother us because we weren't in the room that much. We didn't get bothered with the timeshare stuff. They had a guy who approached people but he only came up to once us and I said no thanks and he left us alone. Just tell them you are leaving the next day and they wont bother you. 5th avenue of Playa del Carmen is a 20 minute walk away. It felt safe to walk outside of the hotel which was nice. Overall it was a great time and you cant beat the price. A lot of people are on here complaining but for the price you cant beat it. We booked it with cheap Caribbean. Its not a 5 star place by any means and people shouldn't expect a 5 star place. If you want a 5 star place, you are going to have to spend a lot more money. More>

Took our young grandaughters for a week , rooms were spotless and contrary to some reviews about the beds ... They were so comfy, never slept so well . Yes the rooms are dated but they serve the purpose .. Water was hot, plenty of storage. My only complaint is that the food was a bit cold some nights but on the whole was perfectly adequate , we didn't use the 2 on site restaurants due to having the young children but it's fine to take them . The pools and beach were quiet and beautiful , no rowdiness .the entertainment was good especially the Michael Jackson tribute .. Not any entertainment for young ones tho .. All in all a good holiday and we would go back in a heartbeat . More>
