Get to Know Mexico
From vibrant culture to breathtaking coastlines, Mexico offers the kind of experiences that bring people together and leave a lasting impression. Mexico is home to 35 UNESCO World Heritage Sites and more than 3,800 miles of coastline. From mountains and cenotes to vibrant culture, cuisine, and festivals, every visit offers something new to discover1. Mexico also boasts modern, bustling cities and the rich history of the Aztec and Mayan people who thrived long before the Spanish arrived in the 1500s. It’s no wonder nature lovers, adventure seekers, history buffs, and beach lovers flock here.
The climate is warm year-round in the south and coastal areas, and the north is arid with hot summers and cool winters. The rainy season is June through early November, with peak months for hurricanes in September and October. November through May typically provides the best weather.
Visitors from the U.S. can do so without a visa. You’ll need a valid passport with at least 6 months’ validity, and a Multiple Digital Migration Form (obtainable from airlines, travel agencies, or ports of entry). Bring cash so you can support local businesses, as many street vendors and shops are cash only. Other than that, be sure to pack a rain jacket, reef-safe sunscreen, and a swimsuit2.
Where to Go in Mexico
Cancun
Cancun is among the best places in Mexico to visit, with a lively downtown, mouthwatering street food, breathtaking beaches, nearby access to Mayan ruins Chichen Itza, and cenotes (natural sinkholes with crystal clear water). You can also take ferries to Isla Mujeres and Isla Holbox for easy day trips, or from June to September, take a tour to see some gentle whale sharks.
Treat your sweetheart to adults-only havens like Secrets® The Vine Cancun, or take the whole family to resorts like Royalton Splash Riviera Cancun.
Riviera Maya
Riviera Maya is the laid-back alternative to boisterous Cancun. Its proximity to the world’s second-largest coral reef makes it ideal for water sports enthusiasts. Explore the only coastal ruins in the area at Tulum, take kids of all ages to eco-park Xcaret, which boasts more than 50 natural and cultural attractions, or snorkel with sea turtles and spend an afternoon at La Buena Vida Beach Club with your beloved in Akumal3.
If relaxation and adventure are your vibe, you’ll love Riviera Maya and resorts like Riu Playacar or the Conde Nast award-winning Iberostar Grand Paraiso.
Cozumel
Directly across the Caribbean Sea from Playa del Carmen on the Mesoamerican Barrier Reef, Cozumel is the ideal vacation destination for world-class diving and snorkeling with extensive coral sea life and incredible visibility.
On the west side, you’ll find stunning resorts like Dreams Cozumel Cape Resort & Spa and Secrets® Aura Cozumel amid white sand beaches, while the east side is less developed. Nature lovers should visit Punta Sur Ecological Park and climb the lighthouse for epic 360-degree views4.
Puerto Vallarta
Located between the sparkling Bay of Banderas and the Sierra Madre Mountains, Puerto Vallarta boasts white and golden sand beaches, world-class hotels like Dreams Vallarta Bay Resort & Spa and Melia Puerto Vallarta, and plenty of eco-tourism, making it one of the best vacation destinations in Mexico.
Dive or snorkel at Los Arcos National Marine Park. Sample some of the most delectable cuisine in the country on a local food tour, explore charming Zona Romantica, experience colorful street art, historic architecture, or walk the lively malecon5.
Los Cabos
Los Cabos is where you'll find golden sunsets over the Sea of Cortez, joyful laughter in sparkling pools, and unforgettable desert views. Rent a kayak and paddle out to iconic “El Arco,” an arched rock formation at Land’s End, with your companions for some epic bonding time.
From December to March, go whale watching with a conservation-minded tour, as Los Cabos is one of the best places in the world to witness majestic humpback whales6.
Kick back and relax at one of the world-class resorts like Breathless Cabo San Lucas Resort & Spa or Grand Fiesta Americana Los Cabos.

Mazatlán
Known as the pearl of the Pacific, Mazatlán is a wondrous blend of history, culture, and nature. Whether you're offshore fishing for the big one, hiking up to El Faro Lighthouse, catching a show at the historic Angela Peralta Theater, or just logging some serious beach time at stunning resorts like Riu Emerald Bay or Pueblo Bonito Emerald Bay Resort and Spa, every day here is a new chapter in your story7.
With so many incredible destinations to choose from, Mexico is the perfect place to reconnect, celebrate, and create lasting memories. With Apple Vacations, planning your getaway is simple, with Exclusive Perks and all-inclusive vacation packages designed with you in mind.
