Amazing!!! I every way.
Another super holiday. Thank you Windjammer Landing. We look forward to our return in December 2019. Service, food and entertainment all fantastic, again. A place we bought into 12 years ago, as timeshare owners, we have no regrets, way would we.
St Lucia - On the Bucket list of Holidays
Although our holiday was in June 2019, we felt is necessary to write a review. My wife and I were supposed to be booked into a completely different resort, however their hillside lift broke down two weeks before we were due to arrive. With some careful and delicate complaining to our booking company and manoeuvring we were booked into Windjammer. We were so glad we did! The staff at Windjammer’s were absolutely amazing, friendly, polite and willing to help at every turn and the Ace of all the staff, to us, was the car hire lady, Windy. Her attitude was absolutely amazing, friendly and helpful, suggested places for us to visit and see, helped with the car hire and was so professional. We believe a person like this has the right attitude to be in a much higher position in her company or the hotel itself and we believe she is an asset to your resort albeit working on the car hire desk. The apartments we stayed in were just amazing, views to die for, cleaning service were exceptional. The front of house staff were also so helpful and friendly, as were the restaurant and bar staff. The drivers running the shuttles to the apartments were friendly, polite and wonderful people too - many to be singled out, all very nice lovely chaps. I realize this sounds unbelievable but – what can I say, if you doubt me, go and try! Oh, and lastly, preferred taxi driver (onsite), Hector, is a really helpful chap willing to go the extra mile and will take you anywhere and be your personal guide for the whole island, for a fee, was brilliant. Because we had such a great experience at Winjammer Landing and St Lucia is no longer on the “bucket list”, we are planning to go back soon.
Amazing gem that you MUST visit
I researched for hours looking for the perfect resort to fit my family's needs. This resort checked the majority of the boxes and did not disappoint. It is very unique in that it is mainly villas built into the side of a mountain. You could easily stay here and never leave, as it has everything for the perfect stay. We have two adult sons and the villa (#2) was perfect, as they had their own floor with an indoor and outdoor seating area. We never waited more than 5 minutes for the shuttle van to take us to the lobby. In the main area are located all but 1 of the restaurants, Papa Don's. The ONLY thing that did not check all our boxes was the beach. While it is beautiful, there is not much of it. So if long walks on the beach are something you like, you will settle here for a short walk. Staff - The staff is VERY friendly and accommodating. Zero complaints. Food - The food was very good. It is more on the expensive side as is the case in all large resorts. We were surprised that there was not more shellfish, but we found that to be the case on the island in general, as we did eat at other places (Rodney Bay and Soufriere) Inclusive vs non inclusive - You do have a choice. We have an adult son who does not drink alcohol and we are not huge eaters. We chose to go the non inclusive route. We stopped at a grocery in Castries on the way from the airport and bought Piton beer, rum and punch, and food for lunch. Breakfast is included in the price regardless of your choice. Their buffet is amazing and huge with options for everyone. We ended up spending only half of what the extra charge would have been. You need to know YOUR families needs as to which option would be better. You will have to sign a ticket every time you charge regardless of which option you pick. Restaurants - The Dragonfly serves breakfast and was amazing. It was the only meal we ate there. We never ate at Embers. Jammers was great for lunch and dinner. No complaints. Upper Deck is right next to Jammers, with both facing the beach. We had the best snapper ever. Papa Don's is the one restaurant not on the beach and about half way up the mountain. It is a charming open air restaurant, as all of them are. It was probably the best meal we had. Two of us enjoyed the shrimp risotto and the shrimp was fresh and delicious. The pizza was amazing. I had read many comments about cats everywhere. There are cats, mainly roaming the restaurants. They do not bother you. Activities - They give you a schedule when you check in. They do a fantastic job of scheduling a wide variety of activities every day from exercise to games to water sports. There was music every night at Jammers. Shops - They are two gift shops in the main area that have some nice gifts, shirts, hats, etc. They also have a mart with drinks and food and alcohol. I was impressed with the selection. Misc - They are very picky about their beach towels. You MUST have you cards to get a towel at the beach. It is next to Embers. You leave the cards and get them back when you return your towels. You also place a monetary deposit for the towels that you get back when you check out. We did not know this when we booked. The shuttle service is longer from the lobby to the villas. They also can arrange a taxi and driver to go into the various towns. If you are prone to car sickness, you will need something traveling to and from the airport and to other towns on the island. We have traveled to most of the islands and this is by far the most mountainous. There is also a spa on site, but we did not use it. There are also several pools. The main one is near Jammers. They did a great job with a water aerobics class. Excursions - The hotel did a wonderful job booking our two excursions. One was a private catamaran through Endless Summer tours. We traveled the Caribbean side down to the Pitons. It docked at Soufriere, where a driver met us. He took us to the Sulfur Springs and Toreill waterfall and back to town for lunch. Afterwards, we stopped at two places to snorkel. The BEST day! Another trip was to Howelton Estates above Castries (30 minutes) for the bean to bar experience where we made our own chocolate bar. It was a great outing. They have a really nice gift shop there too. On the return we shopped at the market in Castries. Not as big as some on other islands but the people were nice and NOT pushy. There are beautiful mahogany pieces at great prices. We went into Rodney Bay to shop and eat one day. The mall area wasnt what I expected and we walked from there to Spinnakers on the beach to eat. Airport and security - Arriving was a breeze. Our luggage was off the plane very fast. Customs was easy too. There is stand outside for Windjammer where my name was displayed and our driver was waiting. I had faxed our flight information and booked this ahead of time. You pay the driver $90US when you get to the hotel. We arranged for a driver ahead of time to take us back. Security leaving was very odd in my opinion. Everyone was stopped 6 times before getting on the plane. We were asked the same questions two different times. We were asked nothing landing in Atlanta (U.S.) Not a bad experience; just odd and some odd questions. The airport there is small, but there are shops and places to get food. I wanted to be very thorough on this review and put out some information that I never found with others. This is a place we would return to in a heartbeat. The resort is amazing and so is the island. You really don't want to miss venturing out into the various towns. We never went anywhere on the Atlantic side, but everywhere else was so beautiful. We WILL return.
Little Greece in the Caribbean
This is a beautiful resort with a vibe that s friendly and family oriented. The resort looks like something in Greece with it s white villa designs. ...beautiful.The only issue I had was with the restaurants . The prices are very high and value for money low. Food portions are small and does not offer much variety.
Amazing vacation as always :)
I’ve stayed at Windjammer on several occasions.. this trip was with my grandchildren and they had a phenomenal experience! The staff at the kids club were wonderful and allowed me to have some “me time”... the Managing Director Scott S. and the General Manager Lenny C. together with their excellent staff made our 3 week vacation absolutely amazing... we will definitely be back it is always a pleasure to stay at this resort.
