Customer Ratings & Reviews

This hotel is all inclusive and was very nice. You have to stay at the Royal part. The other part of the property has kids Great restaurants and activities. It’s about 1300 acres there monkeys in the trees and great entertainment at night. We played golf. A nice course. You can rent ur clubs About 200.00 a round. We took the zip line excursion which was very safe and went to the town of tamarind which had a great Resturant on the beach. We also went on a tri hull sail boat. And went snorkeling. Great trip with friends.
Our recent trip to the Westin Playa Conchal to celebrate my husband's birthday was wonderful. If you enjoy viewing wildlife (lots of Howler monkeys, families of coatis, iguanas, birds) amongst a beautiful landscape, this is the place to be! All of the staff, from room service to the resort shuttle drivers to the restaurant waiters and pool bartenders were amazing - very friendly and accommodating. We found the hotel food to be hit and miss. Highlights of our trip included 2 excursions booked through Erik Garcia (not affiliated with the hotel) who can be found on the beach (wearing blue shirt). We found him to be very friendly, knowledgeable, reliable and honest. He answered all of our questions which made it easy for us to decide on which excursions we would enjoy. The personalized excursions he put together were fantastic and our guide, Christian, who took us on the two trips exceeded our expectations. We would highly recommend Erik and Christian. You won't be disappointed. Staying at the Westin Playa Conchal was a wonderful experience however we prefer resorts where you can lounge on the beach not just around the pool. Otherwise, we would recommend this resort for an interesting and relaxing vacation.
We stayed at the Westin for 6 nights late may 2019. It rained the entire day 4 out od the 6 nights but it was still warm enough to swim. The hotel was amazing and very relaxing. We never felt like it was crowded at all. The service was great. We stayed at the Royal Beach Club and thought it was well worth it. The breakfast was much better there and the pool was relaxing. It was also nice having our own lounge for snacks and assistance during the day. The food at the hotel was hit or miss. It was definitely good but not amazing. We loved La Sabana and Mangler. The BEST part of our trip was the tours with Erik Garica. His tours are more personalized and private than those with the other companies. Our amazing guide Bryan took us on 2 trips. One to Rio Celeste, hanging bridges, and a sloth sanctuary and one to Rincon De La Vieja to zipline, horseback ride, hot springs, and waterfalls. Bryan is very kind and helpful. I would recommend him to anyone. We already miss Bryan! Thank you Erik and Bryan for the best trip ever.
From the moment you arrive, you have everything you will need at your fingertips. They have it all covered -the food, the beach, the pool, the wildlife, and the entertainment. While we booked excursions for nearly every day of our two week stay, we could have had a fabulous time had we never left the resort. We booked excursions through Andrei (Conchal Fun) and he was amazing as well. Schedule one day to be pampered at the amazing spa. We went in the middle of May and the rains really had not arrived, so it was a perfect time to visit. The rain moved in the last day of our stay (May 24). We enjoyed all the food but our favorite restaurants for dinner were the Faisanella and Manglar, you don't want to miss these. Be sure to book reservations for both as soon as you arrive. We loved the pizza at the Spirula. FYI, there is an umbrella in your room (which you might need). Bug spray is a must - bring some but some is available in the stores. Suntan lotion is another must - you are close to the equator. I recommend booking excursions before you arrive. There are people on the beach that will offer excursions but it was much better to have all that decided before arriving. The "vendors" on the beach are not a big deal as some others have reported. Also, it isn't a ton of "vendors" - just a few. We loved all of the employees at this resort, every single person was friendly and patient with our English.
You will not be disappointed.
This was our second stay at the Westin Golf Resort. It was as good or better as the first time. The best thing this hotel has to offer is their service. The employees were what made our trips even better. Each one is professional, friendly, funny and helpful. Many remembered our names and called out to us and we strolled around the grounds. Observing (and listening to) the Howler Monkeys in the trees by our room was a blast. And watching the coatimundi's and Iguanas was such a treat. Our room was immaculate. The restaurants were delicious. Many things to discover on the property as well as off. We were there May 15-19. Beginning of rainy season. First few days were cloudy - which was nice because it kept the temperatures down. The last two days rained off and on. Umbrellas are provided in your room and we brought our own rain ponchos. No matter the weather, there is always a covered golf cart right around the corner to pick you up and whisk you away to your destination. Be sure to book at least some of your excursions with Eric. He is not with Westin, but is just outside of the hotel entrance to the beach and wears a hat that says 'Eric'. We used him both vacations and couldn't have been happier. He is honest, offers a good price, and is totally dependable. He only hires the best people to take you on these adventures. If you don't believe me just read the 100's of reviews he has on TripAdvisor. If you decide to choose the Westin Golf Resort, you will not be disappointed. Costa Rica is a wonderful country with warm, welcoming people.
