Wanting to do something special for our son, we decided to have a staycation at the Marriott. From the moment we arrived, we were greeted with aloha and felt right at home! When we checked in, Terrance assisted us and made my whole family feel so special. Little gifts and refreshments for my kids, and cool beverages to keep them entertained. Mentioning it was my sons birthday... to our surprise, Malia from guests services had the sweetest gift basket delivered. Being a 4yr old, any little treat is so appreciated! The room/amenities were awesome! We asked for a room by the kids pool on the ground floor which was so convenient-especially having a stroller. Kyle, who appeared to be hotel security was also nothing but helpful!! Lastly, the bartender at the pool, awesome. She was obviously busy but very attentive. Amazing staff!! Wonderful experience!! 5++++ stars!! Thank you again to Terrance, Malia, Kyle, and the wonderful pool bartender!! We will be back soon!!
Stayed 5 nights here, booked on points. Still a few hundred dollars after resort fees and parking. Situated between two beaches (Wailea and Ulua) on some picturesque lava rocks looking toward west Maui and Lana'i. Resort is large and varied, with a lot to do. Infinity pool is great, and both beaches are worth checking out. Room was clean, refrigerator worked well and had enough space for our needs, and a microwave was brought to our room on request for the duration of our stay. That was really helpful in cutting costs as we could make our own breakfast in the room each morning. The balcony with clothes-drying rack was nice, and we could even see a bit of ocean and the island of Kahoʻolawe. Resort brought us a bottle of champagne and a fresh pineapple on the house to celebrate our engagement (the reason for our trip), which we really appreciated. Only negative I have is that we tried to book the free intro to scuba lesson that is included with the resort fee and the instructor never called us back. We didn't follow up as we had plans on subsequent days that would've prevented us from doing it.
Beautiful Resort but not respected as a Marriott member(silver or gold)
We are gold but I made the reservation in my wives name as silver to use up points in her account. I spoke with a manager and she said she would add my name for a gold reservation. Our balcony overlooked a employee service road and parking lot. Felt like I booked from a third party site instead of Marriott. This is the main reason I rated my stay average. The WiFi was a hassle. The staff was great. The place is well run and the grounds and everything was great. I wouldn’t stay again cause there are to many other places that respect Marriott status.
Not the WORST, but far from the best
I really wish I had better things to say about our stay at The Wailea Beach Resort. I will say that the views are absolutely gorgeous and that Maui itself is breathtaking. Unfortunately, that’s really where the good in this review ends. For us, things hadn’t gone right since check in. We arrived on a Friday, (celebrating our honeymoon by the way-which I told about 10 different people 10 different times). We couldn’t check in right away because we arrived early and the room was not available. Okay, no big deal-pretty standard stuff. We waited about two hours for our room to be ready. I booked a garden view room (my fault) and when we got to the room we discovered that the “garden” was in fact the lobby. Yes, our “garden view” room was looking directly down on the lobby. One plus- if you were at the right angle, you had a very teeny tiny view of the ocean. The room itself was also pretty small- not a huge deal, because who goes to Maui and spends time in their room, but a little extra space would have been nice. Anyway, my husband and I decided to go to the front desk to see if there were any other rooms available. We were willing to take the same type of room with a different view or even upgrade to a larger room or suite. We explained at the front desk that it was our honeymoon and we wanted to get the full experience. We were told nothing was available that day, but the woman at the front desk ASSURED us that she was going to “take care of it personally” and that we could come back to the desk the next day and they could move our room for us then. Except, SURPRISE, when I went to the desk the next day another (very kind) woman had no idea what I was talking about. She did offer to move us to the same size room with a ground floor view of the pool the FOLLOWING day, but at that point I figured it didn’t make sense because I wanted to be settled into a room. The adult infinity pool is gorgeous. Terri who works at that pool is AMAZING and has a wonderful energy about her. My husband and I decided since we weren’t splurging on a fancy room we would get a cabana. No cabanas were available there at the adult pool, so we rented a cabana at one of the other pools for two days. On the second day of our cabana rental, the pool attendant (not Terri) was literally nowhere to be found whenever we needed him. I’m sure he was serving a lot of people, but you would think that those who pay money for a cabana should receive a little more attentive service, but no. If you like a drink after dinner, apart from the one dinner restaurant, there is no lobby bar to enjoy a drink or hang out later on in the evening. However, they do offer a shuttle service to nearby restaurants which is nice, and the people running the luggage holding area/shuttle service are wonderfully helpful and nice. That being said, the final straw came on my last night there. I took a shower, wrapped a clean towel from the pile around my clean body, only to realize after the fact that there was some kind of brown colored stain on the towel. I don’t know what it was, but you can certainly use your imagination with what it looked like. Regardless of what it was or wasn’t, imagine putting a dirty towel from a fresh, clean pile of towels around your clean body. Absolutely disgusting. At this point I called to complain, spoke the the manager Marisol who apologized profusely, offered to bring new towels, and that she would waive our 35 dollar a night resort fee. Very kind of her, I appreciated it, but honestly, for what we paid per night and it being a Marriott hotel, I really expected so much more, especially for our honeymoon. When it came down to it, nobody made us feel special for it being our honeymoon (obviously it’s very common for people to honeymoon here so I guess nobody cares). Just to put it in perspective, we stayed in California at a Loews hotel right before we came here and received a free upgrade for our special occasion. Of course that can’t always be the case, but it would’ve been nice for it to have been acknowledged- I only mentioned it to every single person we saw. I’d LOVE to go back to Maui-and despite its pitfalls this hotel DOES have amazing views-but I wouldn’t stay here again.
Really a 4.5 out of 5
This is your true resort experience in Hawaii: - Check in experience was amazing. Really made is special for our honeymoon - even gave us a complimentary cabana for the next day. - Beautifully maintained grounds. We loved the adult pool (no children allowed!) - its an infinity pool overlooking the ocean. - We had a ocean facing suite on the 2nd floor of building 7. Comfortable bed, nice balcony to relax, living area and walk in shower. Only criticisms: - Our ocean facing room had a huge tree blocking the view. So did not really get what we wanted. - The toilet is strangely located very close to the shower, with a door closing the toilet and shower. Seemed strange. We would definitely stay here on a next visit!
