Ok but some annoyances
It was my third time, in the summer, as a kiting destination. Each time (3) we had to request to change rooms upon arrival (next day or so), and each time (3) the card/key malfunctionned during our stay. This time the hot water pressure was a joke, the ac was noisy, and the toilet malfunctionned. If you can bear with the music at the pool all the time and accept to retreat to your room for a quieter place (you still hear the music) it is an ok place. This time the wifi was decent near the central area but did not make it to our room. Ended up buying a local sim card and cheap internet package (3$us for 5G /5 days) to compensate. A lot of kids and teenagers. Imposible to take a hot tub it was flooded with kids (15-20]. I think next time we will go for a condo, getting to old (60+) for the crowd & never ending noise. On the plus side, the staff did try to be nice but have a heafty workload, do not xpect service during rush periods. Early and late with a litle tip will make things friendly.
Decent resort with much room for improvement
We stayed at this resort for two nights, although originally planned for three-- our flight from Miami was rebooked to the next day, so we needed to inform the resort that we would be arriving a day late. The number for the hotel was unreachable for a majority of the time we tried calling, but once we were finally able to reach them it was a simple fix. When we got to the resort, they gave us a room that was off of the main property, in what looked like a strip mall in a parking lot, and was a small, outdated two-bedroom apartment; we originally booked a single room with a king bed. Aside from the condition of that facility and the apartment, it had no wifi (free wifi was advertised) and not even a phone to reach the front desk. That room was unacceptable for the amount that we paid, and frankly they should shut down that portion of the resort. It is a far walk from any of the resort amenities, and is accessible from the street which could be dangerous. We returned to the front desk, and after some discussion, were able to change rooms to a much nicer room on the resort property. This new room was what we originally expected, however the wifi was spotty at best, and the shower had no hot water. Otherwise, the room was clean and spacious, with a balcony overlooking the beach and the pool. We had no other issues with the room. The amenities at the resort were overall pretty nice-- the beach was very nice, there were a couple of nice pools to hang out in, and the buffet was decent. However, there were no attendants walking around to take drink orders (as is common at these types of resorts) and there was only one bar serving drinks for the "all inclusive" package, near the main pool-- the other areas had bars you'd have to spend extra money on. There were a lot of activities to choose from, and the resort had a full gym and spa, which was nice. Overall, this was a decent resort, with room for much improvement. They really should update their rooms/facilities, improve the wifi throughout the resort, and expand access to the "all inclusive" portions of the resort package. We enjoyed our time here despite the bumps in the road, but would likely choose another destination in the future.
They say you only write reviews for 2 reasons right?
Unfortunately, I'm disappointed with the service here. Rooms were dreadfully cold and event after asking for more blankets I didn't get a good nights sleep. I'm aware the A/C could be turned off but the humidity makes the rooms very moist and more uncomfortable. Food and beverage is very subpar even at the restaurants that require reservations several days prior. ALL -inclusive minus the wine very strange there and all the mixed drinks were local shelf quality no name-brands for anything. I would recommend staying at a resort closer to the airport like Iberostar.
The hotel is a bit old, it needs an update. Overall it’s a nice place, the food is very good. The animation team is amazing, they are nice and funny. There are activities all day long, nice place to stay.
Beautiful, affordable and comfortable place for family !
Me and my family stayed from July 9 to July 16, 2019. It was one of my best vacations. We were afraid of going after all the news on tourists dying at D.R but everything went well. Here's my comments on various points..... FOOD: Great variety of food. Each night, at the buffet, they would represent a different country with decorations and special dishes from those countries. The restaurants at the resort were good as well. ENTERTAINMENT: During the day, at certain times, the entertainers would play games and do dances near the pool. When they would leave, there was no music. It was dead during a few hours. They should always have music near the pool especially when they leave, it's more fun. At 9:00 pm there was game nights for kids right before the late show. At 9:30 pm, the dancers would put up a magnificent show. They are extremely talented. Just a small remark, the stage is too small for them and lacking air conditioning at the theater. At night, kids should not be allowed to those shows which are more suitable for teens and adults. CLEANNESS: The rooms were cleaned, we always had hot water, towels but no fridge. The restaurants were also cleaned at all times. The pools were a bit dirty, it could be improved. GIFT SHOP: Nice souvenirs, a bit of everything but bring your own sunscreen. One bottle which is 8 canadian dollars here in Montreal costs around 26 canadian dollars there. Wow !!! more on next page.....
