Good enjoyable stay
Nice, clean, slightly dated rooms. Excellent wifi, Buffet - a bit repetitive however lots of good fruit, can always find something good especially Mexican selections; al la carts - ok, good service. Excellent beach with lots of lounges in shade or sun. Nice clean pools. Drinks were fine. Coffee excellent. Free purified water easily available near rooms. East smooth check-in and check-out. Easy walk to 5th ave. Friendly staff. Hard to break larger bills so bring lots of 20 peso/ $1 notes for tips, All resort amenities easily accessible. Enjoy
Good but could and should be better
Just back from a week at VWM. We were here about 10 years ago and we were happy to see it was still a good affordable option. The good - the beach, the staff ,food at the a la cartes. resort was clean as humanly possible. The Ok- the 2nd room, food at the buffet , drinks. self serve in most things. buffet was repetitive.... never want to see a hot dog again . served at every meal. The bad - the 1st room. south side ground floor. incredible musty odor.... almost hard to breathe. finally complained enough that they " found" a room that night at 10 pm we could move to when there were none at check in at 9 pm. gratefull one became available. The pillows and beds...... awful . still sore 5 days later. The towels. 20 grit sandpaper. The shows..... sorry , once you've seen one you've had enough. lip synching gets old by show # 3. this is not just a VWM issue . it's an all inclusive problem. they haven't changed across 3 countries and 20 years. to us and a lot we talked to,they have run their course and its time for a change. The kids try hard..... it's just time after 20 years and 20 resorts.... boring! We wish resorts would start to offer live music for a couple of hours at least a few nights a week. And that doesn't mean karaoke. people would love to hear both local music as well as top 40 to dance to. Lastly, to me , a true test of how much a hotel cares about your review is how they answer to it. The cookie cutter customer speak is tired and saying the comments have been passed on to the proper department for upgrading is fine..... but rarely the truth..... while this hotel is good and we would return, the issues they have are not new to my review and have been ongoing for a very long time. Yet, they have seemingly done nothing about the issues seeing they all still exist and not just my thoughts ..... read back a few dozen a watch the pattern. If you truly value our patronage, it's time to actually make some changes. Start with the beds , pillows , and towels and work from there . dont say you will pass it on..... actually do it. we would love to return , but not if the same complaints appear over and over again.
My family enjoyed immensely our stay at this resort. The staff is beyond belief kind, polite, friendly and welcoming, be it a receptionist, bartender, maid or a gardener. Resort itself is immaculate, gardens are beautifully kept, rooms are spotless and well maintained. Dining options offer good variety with many options to choose from, even for picky eaters like myself. We also enjoyed many of the activities offered (and I highly recommend you try): morning yoga on the beach is an enchanting experience, Zumba class is bound to get one moving, and aquatic fitness class is just plain fun. The beach is fantastic, we couldn't keep away. Overall, one of our best vacations to date. Teeny side note, if you value your innards, stay away from a-la-carts - they are delicious, but you will very very deeply regret the consequences.
Upon arrival check in went smoothly. We were assigned our room but really given direction on how to get there. Our room was close to the pool and a short walk to the beach. It was night time when we arrived so we only had the snack bar to choose from to eat. Rooms are very basic. Wifi works great. You are charged for the safe which seems silly to me because its already there in the room anyways . The buffet restaurant is very warm and crowded. The food is just ok. Nothing was really ever warm and the food was very repetitive. Also I had to chase someone every morning to get coffee. This is a " serve yourself " kind of resort. You are not offered drinks you get them yourself. The buffet only has wine and beer to choose from. The ala cartes were great. Great service and good food. The beach is really pretty ( this saved the resort for me ) . Theres plenty of chairs so you don't need to play the save game every morning. The waves are quite strong so maybe not the best choice for small kids. The pool is alright. Crowded and loud with lots of kids. I loved the coffee bar in the morning and the guys who work there are great. Very fast and friendly. Would I return? No I've been to much better resorts in the playacar area
Best beach and blue water, sand is very soft, no rocks at all in or out of the water. The staff was great from service, bartenders, to cleaning, check in and out, activity people especially Jonathan! Extremely safe area was gated. Short and safe walk to downtown area where all kinds of shopping and food experiences. Great waiter Alberto at Mexican resort restaurant!! Definitely would go back.
