My first time at this resort and it was amazing, the staff was very friendly and the food was excellent. The main buffet eating area was under renovation so they moved everything down towards the beach and pool eating area which was nice as well. Juan was one of the managers of the buffet/dining area made sure that everyone, not just my family but everyone had a great dinning experience, this man was very professional and treated everyone as if they were VIPs. Whenever you're eating in the dining area look for a gentleman by the name of Henry, this guy was awesome, whenever our glasses or empty he made sure they were full, whenever our tables were dirty he made sure they were clean, this gentleman went above and beyond to make sure our stay was relaxing and stress free. While we were there we tried a lot of the other restaurants that they had available and I must say they were all great, but the one that stood out the most to me was the Mexican restaurant I believe this was ran by A gentleman by the name of Francisco, he ran the place as if it were his own restaurant and again very professional and made sure everyone was happy. There was one manager there who was not very friendly I believe his name was Joaquim, this type of business may not be for him, didn't like the idea of him treating his workers as if they were dumb, you don’t call out employees in front of public and belittle them, perhaps he should have spoken to them one-on-one and behind closed doors. Swallow your pride and treat everyone the way you would want to be treated. Other than that…… awesome place and would definitely recommend this two others.
I love this hotel we arrive next Saturday October 12. We are a large group that goes every year! My son got engaged and married at this hotel. The staff are so friendly and accommodate our requests every year! Hoping they won’t disappoint this year! All the a la carte restaurants are the best and have the best managers. We are all welcomed every year looking forward to seeing all my favorites Julio, Jorge’s,Raul, Noel, Gabriel and more!!! A lot of first timers this year that I have told great things about this hotel! Love to my staff Debbie Noel
Horrible experience with transportation booked through hotel AVOID KULUBA TOURS!!!!
We went to this hotel with 29 people to celebrate my cousin’s bachelorette. She booked transportation through the hotel (KULUBA TOURS) for all of us to and from airport. We waited for more than 30 mins for van. Once it got there, were not given enough space for a group of 11, one person had to sit on the floor all 45 mins to hotel. Next day I tried to give Kuluba tours my flight info for transportation to catch return flight. I was told to provide everyone’s flight info... I didn’t even know some girls since they were my cousin’s friends. I did not have a way of contacting all those people. I was not accommodated at all. This man told me I would be changed extra $20 per person to take me and my sister to airport at time our flight departed. This man wanted me to leave with the whole group at what ever time that was. I then made my own arrangements to go back since they couldn’t guarantee to take us at the time our flight departed. I told him I would only pay for service given (one -way to hotel) They went ahead and charged full fare on my cousin’s card without her permission or mine for my fare and my sister’s. Hotel was ok, staff very friendly and hard working, food average, front desk did not help with this problem. AVOID KULUBA TOURS!!!! I can’t stress it enough AVOID KULUBA TOURS!!!! AVOID KULUBA TOURS!!!! AVOID KULUBA TOURS!!!!
Average Review for an Average Resort - Look Elsewhere First
As they say you get what you pay for in life, and this place is a great example of that. I paid $100 per night which wasn’t bad for ‘all inclusive’ However it is not a truly all inclusive resort. Pretty much every comment I have below here is mentioned in other reviews but here they are anyway. Good - good beach - plenty of deck chairs with shade - extremely friendly and helpful staff in the restaurants and bars - clean (if basic) rooms with great cleaning staff - well kept resort with staff constantly cleaning and checking water in the pools etc - adult only pool ( a welcome relief from the multiple groups of screaming children) Bad - they give you just two bottles of water on arrival and you’re not allowed to refill them at any of the water stations, a pathetic situation given the heat. Even in the gym you can’t refill your bottle. - Rude check in staff (I had to deal with three people as one had to leave and the other two seemed to be doing different roles), especially compared to the friendly restaurant and bar staff. Check in staff just tell you you can’t use the safe in the room unless you pay extra (I’ve never even heard of that before, bad practice), tell you you’ll lose $20 if you misplace a towel and then tell you you only have limited use of the restaurants for dinner outside of the canteen, before handing you a map and sending you on your way. Definitely the worst check in experience I’ve ever had, not once did they say welcome or offer any help or assistance. They just told you all the rules and limitations of the resort and sent you away. - smoke everywhere, the resort seems to be encourage smoking with ash trays everywhere and people smoking all over the resort, on the lounge chairs, in the pools. - the gym is extremely hot and with just a fan to cool it, and extremely rude staff in the gym. - the canteen food is very cheap and limited. Appreciate it’s hard to mass produce good food but some of it was inedible and I am not a picky eater. - rock hard pillows in the room - annoying staff who go from lounge chair to lounge chair all day trying to get you to do their activities, interrupting what you’re doing and not taking no for an answer It’s not a bad resort, but it’s not a good one either, i would definitely look at other options before booking this one. Note to management - A few minor changes such as not charging for water in the Mexican heat and having your check in staff actually seem to care like the staff who clean up the plates in the restaurants would go a long way. Not charging for the safe in the room (which is already in place!) would also help.
Don't waste your $$ (Seriously don't)
Simply put, this is the absolute worst “All Inclusive” I have ever stayed at. There was absolutely nothing “resort-ish” about this place. I have NEVER experienced such disrespect from a front office/concierge. At any other hotel/motel the front desk is always trying to accommodate their guest and make them feel as if they’re actually wanted there. Well not this place!! I’m a bride to be and I decided to have my bachelorette party in Playa. Key word: BRIDE, you would think they would try to accommodate a simple request in order to hope I have my honeymoon/babymoon there but no, zero care on their end. Did I mention I brought 25 people with me? I called a few days before we all arrived hoping I could make a reservation at one of their 3 restaurants. I was told I had to do this in person. I ask my cousin to make the reservation since she was the first to arrive. She’s told she needs all the room numbers. We get there and attempt to make the reservations now that we have all the room numbers and we are told they cannot accommodate such a large group because there wasn’t enough space. Never did they mention this on the phone or when my cousin inquired the day before. 5 of my guests went to the restaurant and walked into an empty restaurant, they have video and photos to prove it. So as Cardie B said in Love & Hip Hop, “WHAT WAS THE REASON?!?!?!?!?!”. Determined to not let the dinner fiasco get us down we decided to hit the pool only to find out they no longer have their swim up bar! My cousin informs me there is an “adult only” pool on the other side of the hotel. Pretty cool pool and AMAZING bartender named Margarito however the people were there more on the retired spectrum. Not an issue for me but worth mentioning. At the end of the night we decide to go dancing to the “Disco” located in the resort. There is NO bar inside the disco you have to walk back down the stairs and order from the lobby bar. What in the actual F*** is that about? How do you have a disco but no bar?? Let’s move on to the snack bar. GROSS! My breakfast consisted of green tea tasting coffee and a sweet bread. Everything there was bland and repetitive. Even the cheeseburger was a disappointment. The agua frescas were tasty though. As for the rooms, my sister upgraded our room so we could have an “Ocean View”. That’s another crash grab scheme they do. Our view was obstructed by construction equipment. We could see the ocean if we stood on our tip toes. The rooms offer no drinking water other than 2 bottles for your entire stay, if you want more you have to buy them. This is important because the faucet/shower water is not safe to drink or safe to brush your teeth with. No face towels! No mini fridge stocking (thought this was an all-inclusive?). The AC had 2 settings, freezing and hell. The rooms were clean so big props to the house keeping staff!!! I could go on but the more I type the angrier I get. I will NEVER stay at this resort or any affiliated resorts again. My advice, pay more and be treated with respect and better accommodations. The Princess resort is a very good option, I stayed there and had the complete opposite experience. Gracias por absolutamente NADA! Hasta Nunca!
