A little older resort than the new El Arco next door. However the Palmar facilities and room are very well kept-up and nice. The pool(s) at the Palmer I think are much better than the Arco and better than many of the other newer places that I could see as well. Very good location and incredible views from the main restaurants and beach. Staff was great, very nice, the check-in/out was seamless and frankly I don't get some of these negative reviews. I would definitely come back to the Palmer. Although we did not attend the shows, they were outside and could tell were very good. A few things about Cabo to keep in mind. Inflation has hit for sure, the deals are still around but are fewer and you have to dig at bit for them. The taxis are WAY over priced however if you're in a hurry they make a nice option as you can grab anytime in a matter of seconds. If not in a rush, take the city bus which you can catch across the street for great deal in transporting to town and the nearby Walmart. Also there is Uber but you have to look. WiFi is not readily avail like the in the states and seems everyone charges for it. I elected no WiFi and frankly it was nice not to be tethered to my phone for once. The friendly folks at Walmart called me a Uber a few times for a quick trip back to the resort and at reasonable price. The surf can be super strong, make sure to see the color of the flags each day on the beach. If *red* they mean it and stay out of the water~don't ignore the life guards.
Villa Del Palmar is one of three in the Villa group which are all situated next to each other. Although it is the oldest in the Villa group it is well maintained and all staff is ready to assist in any way. The room attendant came in most times twice at day to check on things. We also like the fact the resort in on the beach and close to the city center. We were also impressed with the Chef at the nightly dinner show. Our family decided to attend one of the buffet dinner shows one evening. One of my daughters has Celiac disease which requires gluten free diet. When my daughter told the Matradee of her illness he indicated that he would talk to the chef. About 20 minutes later the Chef prepared a special plate with meat and vegetables all gluten free. He also prepared a desert plate and again all were gluten free.
Best vacation ever
My husband and I just returned from our second all inclusive stay at Villa del Palmar. We love everything about the resort...all of the workers from the front desk to the concierge to the servers and managers were so friendly and welcoming. The newly updated rooms were immaculately clean and beautiful. The pools are great. The restaurants are incredible. We stayed in the resort for our entire stay and couldn't be happier with our trip. We treated ourselves to the couples massage. It is amazing. The beach is beautiful, the water so clean and blue but a little rough. That is the only downside but obviously that is not something that the resort can control. We LOVE Villa del Palmar and look forward to going back for years to come.
A Really Pleasant Experience
My wife and I spent our romantic Anniversary week there and had a great time. The outdoor/view vibe in Bella California Restaurant was excellent... as was the service. Wilder and Kenia at the check-in always remembered our names and table preferences... and we thoroughly enjoyed the breakfast service, and travel advice, from Mirasol. Our all-time favorite was the service from Cesar at Tortuga Terrace during the shows (they were nice too!). Can't pass up thanks to a couple of our favorite bartenders Melqui & Lesley. If there had been late night latin dancing it would have my 5th star. My favorite menu for variety was definitely at the Sports Bar surprisingly. Loved it. Every employee we encountered seemed to care about their work and pleasing the guests. A lot of kids were there too (not in a bothersome way at all) so it's obviously a family destination as well. I have to honestly say.... we'll be back!
Good location poor service
Good rooms with kitchenette. Really nice location. Bella Restaurant was the best. Now main thing is the hospitality level was really poor. Don’t fall in all inclusive trap. Very expensive and not worth it. Worse coffees served in morning. Activities they sell are highly marked up. Prefer to go outside and make a deal. They get shady when serving alcohol brands in your all inclusive package. Not very truthful will only server house local cheap brand. Even though you ask for better ones. The guy at checkin was also not courteous.
